What a day! This week’s episode is brought to you by TCG fan and subscriber, Steve, who invited us to visit his silver Ferrari collection.And drive his 430 Scuderia! At last, we get to drive this lightweight V8 legend.
So this week it’s the Ferrari Challenge Stradale versus 430 Scuderia in a feature-length review on British roads. Damian has never driven a ‘Scud’ before, and this is the perfect opportunity to pitch the two cars against each other.
Which car will win? Which sounds the best? Which is the more accomplished overall drive? Will TheCarGuys prefer the Scuderia and replace the Challenge Stradale? Will they ever give the 430 back to Steve? All these questions and more will be answered in this week’s episode.

And it really is a shame to lose these noises, when realistically super and hyper cars could happily stay as they were and not cause global warming. Blanket rules as always, don’t make sense. By all means, make mainstream cars change to help the environment, clean energy and electric cars if we have to. But it’s unnecessary to kill off special cars.

Absolutely. It's hugely important how much pollution my Ford Focus puts out, because there are loads of them. With Ferraris the numbers are small enough not to matter. They should have an exclusion for low-volume manufacturers. (So, Porsche would still be screwed, but that's there fault for making SUVs.)

i was thinking about this through the whole video.. i am ruling out buying a new car and going with a 4 year old one just to avoid the ppf so manufactures are going to be losing a lot of sales if people like me want some sounds from their car

One of my least favorite Ferrari colors is the Russo Corsa. IMO the two favorite colors are the silvers and the Blu Corsa.

One of my happiest life moments was briefly driving a Ferrari f430 Spyder. Just up and down my street, but I'll never forget it. That generation holds a significant place in my heart and imagination. Even though I'm mostly a 911 guy right now, the f430 is probably the only Ferrari I'd jump at if I had a chance.

It's the 5 valves per cylinder that make the CS sound so awesome. F355 had the same setup and hence the magical exhaust note everyone loves. Ferrari haven't done 5 valves per cylinder since the 360 & CS.

What a great comparison... These supercars are iconic! At the end of the day the Challenge Stradale is still one of my favourites... The eco-movement helps us all to maintain to keep those cars running longer... Therefore the different way of thinking is much appreciated and we can drive or favourites cars longer... :-)

I absolutely love the simple steering wheel and rudimentary vents on the 360! I can't stand all the clutter you get on steering wheels nowadays. These Ferrari's look so good in silver! I particularly have always loved the rear lights on the Scuderia from day 1. While i do love the rawness of the earlier Ferrari's, the 458 Speciale & 488 Pista definitely have the looks and performance.

VERY WELL DONE. The split views were the only way to communicate those changes well. Straight forward, conversation style descriptions based on ample seat-time experience. No pathetic attempt to be “cool”, “hip”, or conversely, dorky. Thanks, I don’t want my time back.

I've driven the "normal" 360 and the sound of the V8 was intoxicating, something you remember for the rest of your life. I can't imagine the sound of those special edition Ferrari V8s, they must be fantastic! Thanks for another great vid..

Great video. I owned a 2004 CS and I miss it every time I think about it. That sound is amazing and the video just doesn't do it justice. You need to be inside the car to really understand it. I was waiting for the interview with Steve. Did he decide to buy one? Did he enjoy the rawness and music of the CS over his other cars? I'm really curious what he thought. Great video. Thank you!

The Scuderia for me is a way better car, noticeably quicker. the CS a fun car though, but the Scud is more edgy, I felt scared driving it, where as the CS is a much tamer animal. raw in feel, but just doesn't have that edge of your seat sensation that the Scud. has.

Great stuff. You guys have hit it out of the ballpark with this one (I don’t know what the equivalent in cricket is to this American saying). Shmee just did a triple Ferrari vid today. Cool cosmic coincidence. It’d be awesome to see both of your channels do a collab. I’m a Shmee fan too but I do appreciate the level of quality editing you incorporate into your vids unlike other auto ‘tubers. It hasn’t gone unnoticed. Keep doing what you’re doing. The views and subs will come. Just be patient.

TheCarGuys.TV U bet and yeah great edit/prod. Where I live I’m surrounded by the Hollywood machine. Not in the industry myself. How do you Brits say, “Not my cup of tea?” But I do think I have an eye for that kinda thing. In the vein of 3’s today, I like the transitions, variety of camera angles and steady camera. What I don’t like as much is other auto’tubers with their convenient one-cut approach with that swirling around they do whatever that swirling around thing is that they are constantly doing. Makes me feel sea sick after awhile. I know that it takes longer to put out vids by putting in that level of effort but it shows. Besides, I’d rather dine at the Ritz with TheCarGuys than at McDonalds with other ‘tubers. Oh, and you guys are funny too! But don’t cuss (for the kids). Your mum would agree. Cheerio, y’all!

I like the mood of this video. Despite the fact, that some cars are older, nothing bad was said about it. Even when some design features were smaller or "not that good" compared to the newer ones, it was poetic descibed and put in place. Excellent video!

Great comparisons. I reckon I prefer the looks of the 430 out of them all: it's a very close thing with the 458, but the 430 has a much nicer interior for me - always hated the vents in the 458 and the 488.

Having owned two of each of those, I agree with you. The performance difference isn’t much different for the Scud and it’s nowhere near as beautiful. The Scud is a fantastic car but the CS is just so special.

With 458 Speciale and soon Pista Spider in the garage I would have thought it would be one or other of the CS and the Scud - unless you are in a particularly completist mood. Which seems to be the conclusion you reached. Terrific video, btw. Keep them coming!! 👍

Proper video Damian..cheers! I was nodding in agreement with everything you were saying. Both epic cars of course but the CS is still the one. The hardcore variants aren't meant to be refined! CS gearbox adds to the experience of driving it. Also Scud noise sounds synthetic after a CS! Look forward to the next video. Cheers, Chris

“Grandad can still Dance”. Terrific Summation right there of the Challenge Stradale. Love your channel Damian. Think what this video says is just how special that sound and drive is. My money, which it isn’t, would never let go of the 360 special edition. Raw, visceral, brutal. One of the anchors to Ferrari lineage in your terrific garage and in keeping with The company’s core values. Great video as always !!

Two of my all time favourite cars...but i have to say that I like the Scuderia a bit more. I love how brutal they are. (In the Scuderia you should stay flat on the upshifts, that will make the gear changes faster and will give you that brutal kick on the back).

Owning a Scud I’m a bit biased. Of the same camp as a certain Chris Harris and would/did take the Scud over the CS just due to the “pants” transmission in the CS and the still modern speed of the Scud. Agree that a manual CS would be the pinnacle!! Great review!!

I had the privilege to drive many times a yellow gated manual CS with titanium exhaust. There's nothing better than it !! It's orgasmic! And i've driven tens of supercars (for work). 430 Scuderia was a close second.

I disagree Re: The Scuderia. Chris Harris summed it up perfectly. Wonderful car. Best of the bunch. Wonderful noises from both the old boys, but the Scud sounds even better to me.
