These are in my opinion the 10 best National Anthems in the world. I'm sorry if I didn't put your favorite in, but I had to choose. The list is primarily based on the music, not on the lyrics or whatever the country represents.

Our (USA) national anthem is actually very good when sung in a traditional style. It’s just we always have a bunch of over stylish pop singers singing it, which sometimes makes it seem like another song might be a better anthem, but really the Star Spangled Banner is a great song. I won’t say it’s the #1 most inspiring anthem, but it’s a good one.

Agree. I'm German, but the USA anthem is easily very good, but the craziest bunch of people who just wants attention comes out to sing it, and it sounds different every time. Unless you're a native American, you don't even understand what they're singing, cause they sing the lyrics in their own style and make it basically their own song in the end, which is very, very disappointing. Most of the times it doesn't even sound good. I'll never forget Fergie during the 2018 NBA all Star game in LA.

Es war das Jahr 1998. Ich war erst 10 Jahre alt. Ich wurde in Deutschland geboren und war in diesem Jahr in der 5. Klasse. In unserer Klasse mit 17 Schülern waren nur drei Deutsche Schüler. Alle anderen waren mit einem Migrationshintergrund. Ich war die einzige mit türkischen Wurzeln in meiner Klasse. Wir hatten Musikunterricht und unsere Musiklehrerin Frau Eberlein legte eine CD in das Tonbandgerät und bat uns, zu erraten, zu welchen Ländern die Nationalhymnen gehörten, die wir hören werden. Nachdem die ersten Nationalhymnen angehört und erraten wurden, begann plötzlich die türkische Nationalhymne an zu spielen. Als ich die ersten Töne der Nationalhymne hörte, bekam ich Gänsehaut und meine Augen füllten sich mit Tränen. Während die die türkische Nationalhymne weiter auf dem Band lief, machten meine Klassenkameraden Vermutungen, aber niemand kam auf die Idee, dass eine so schöne Nationalhymne zur Türkei gehören könnte. Unsere Lehrerin Frau Eberlein bemerkte, dass ich emotional wurde. Sie schaute mir in die Augen und wartete darauf, dass ich meine Hand hob und sagte, dass die Hymne „Türkische Nationalhymne“ sei. Aber ich konnte nicht sprechen, weil ich vor lauter Emotionen einen Kloß im Hals hatte. Türkische Hymne war zu Ende und Frau Eberlein fragte mich vor der ganzen Klasse: „Pınar, zu welchem Land gehört diese Hymne?“ Ich sagte mit ganzem Stolz: „Es gehört der TÜRKEI!“ Die Klasse war sehr überrascht, alle sahen mich erstaunt an. Ich begann Stimmen im Klassenzimmer zu hören, die sagten: „Wirklich? Echt jetzt? Ist das wahr?“ Anschließend wurde es ganz still im Klassenzimmer. Und in dem Moment drehte sich mein russischer Nebensizter Viktor zu mir und sagte: „Was für eine schöne Hymne habt ihr?!“ Ich verließ den Unterricht an diesem Tag voller Stolz. Diese schöne und stolze Erinnerung habe ich mein ganzes Leben lang nie vergessen und werde es nie vergessen. Hier lasse ich euch einen Link. For me, France and Russia are the best! And a special place in my heart is occupied by the anthem of the GDR.

The funny thing about that anthem is that they sing about "Germany united fatherland". It doesn't make sense to me, why are that lines in the anthem of the GDR? Did they consider the GDR as whole Germany or did they claim the FRG also as part of their territory? I know that in the constitution of the FRG there where an article said that they want the reunification, but did the GDR have that will as well?

@@felixro1006 Yes. Until 1971 one of the goals of the German Democratic Republic was the reunification of the german nation. From then on they just conform with the fact of the existence of two german states and inclusively the lyrics ceased to be sung in public events.

mattia dall'asta See we defeated you alone when we took our rightful territories and with help from our Other German Brothers but Italy backstabbed Austria and Fought then while they were fighting Serbia and Russia. So I think I can surely say Italy stole Clay from a Nation without really Fighting, instead hiding behind the Alps and fighting with American weapons. It’s easy to say Italy didn’t stole it but it’s true that it Appeals completely to south Tirol, with very many German speaking persons Still living there (I went to Italy you can’t lie to me) and I don’t see where Austria Hungary ‚stole‘ territory if there where German Tounge living in these Territories. And Italy was once part of the Great Empire with being under The Direct Rule of the Emperor. So with Italy being a once part of Austria-Hungary (Rightful son of the HRE) it is difficult to say they stole clay from Italy. It’s like saying Great Britain stole Territory from Canada, but otherwise it does. I hope you see the Pointe I’m going with this Conversation

All great anthems. Here are my personal Top Ten: 1-USSR/Russia. Come on, we all know it's the best. 2-South Africa. The only multi-language anthem in the world, making it especially powerful. 3-Germany. So good it survived WWII. That's pretty good. 4-Poland. Very stirring, especially when you remember the country's long struggle for independence. 5-India. Absolutely beautiful to listen to and it couldn't capture India's spiritual tradition better if it tried. 6-France. The Marseillaise really gets you fired up for action. To arms, citizens! 7-Japan. Very short but very classical. As with India, it really captures the country's unique culture. 8-Israel. A very somber anthem, reflecting the country's tumultuous history. 9-United States. As an American I can't leave this one out, although I personally like America the Beautiful better. 10-Denmark. Beautiful song that gives you the warm fuzzies.
