I own 2022 Hybrid Hylander and LOVE it. Compared to the competition you can’t beat the value vs. other 3 row hybrids + Toyota’s reliability. The screen is SOOO nice even compared to higher end competitors! Hate the location of phone charger but the center console is so deep I’ve fit a half gallon of milk there 😂. Kelly’s right about third row…we use it in a pinch only (it’s small) but love it otherwise!

We were leaning heavily toward the Highlander until I checked out the lower and top tether anchors. Only one top tether in the back row and middle at that was a no go for me. Even as a family of 4, I still wanted more flexibilty!

One of the most interesting things we found out about our Highlander is that it is built on the same frame as the Camry. That gives the real size perspective. We find it perfect for every day for our family of 3. It's great for 4 over long trips with the 3rd seat down, and 5 for short in town trips with friends with the carseat in the middle back. Agree with all the highs and lows, especially about the third row. Great review!

On the platinum the rear view mirror is hooked up to backup camera so if there’s anything big obstructing your view can flip a button on the mirror and camera provides unobstructed view

I have a 16 XLE and I love it. Only thing I wish I have is Apple Car Play. Plenty of room, power and good gas mileage. We are glad to have the 3rd row for unexpected occupants for short trips to restaurants or shopping. Never for a long trip.

Finally so hard to find any videos on the highlander with car seats. We ordered a 2023 gas model platinum with the same colour interior. Expecting our 3rd in February so we will have 2 under 1 and a 7 year old in a booster. Opted for the captain chairs for the infant bucket seat and Evenflo 360 revolve. 7 year old will be in a booster in the 3rd row off to the side. That being said, im only 5’2” and hubby is 5’7” so leg room in the front seats and positioning of the captains chairs will be different for us.

Car seat tilt is cool, the problem I ran into is it is only good for the anchor, so once they are into the click tight seats that use the seat belt, you can't use the function of the carseat tilt

It’s a third row for dogs! That’s why we got our grand wagoneer. Baby in the 2nd row, labs in the 3rd. Works best with a bench 2nd row tho. Love this highlander, would be a great zipping around town car when you don’t need a school bus.

Choose an Atlas, Traverse, or Cherokee L over the Highlander? Yes, for better space… but those three are garbage. Poor quality, dependability, and insane deprecation. I’m not sure why KZfaq car bloggers don’t spend more time talking about longevity, cost per year, or depreciation rates. Does our generation really prioritize junky features over quality? Guess so. With that said. Very fair assessment otherwise and I definitely agree with your third row comment. SO true

I know everyone wants a suv now days, but I really love sedan. I would love to see which sedan would be good for family. Between Audi a6, bmw 5 series, Mercedes E class. Then maybe Honda accord, Toyota camary and Hyundai sonata. I’m shopping for a car but I can not find this information anywhere.

The '23 Highlander has the wireless charger on the shelf beneath the radio - right where you suggested. The gas version gets a turbo-4 instead of the V6. The vehicle seems perfect for Empty Nesters like us, who will get the Limited with a 2nd row bench and always have that 3rd row flat. Happy New Year and best wishes to your growing family!

The 3rd row makes trunk smaller…one of my boys uses it to sprawl out on road trips….but it is highly unusable..basically no leg room

Where are the anchor points in the 2nd row. You mentioned that there are 4 per seat. My wife is installing a seat right now in our Highlander.

I can easily fit my three elementary school children on the third seat but my biggest nightmare when the middle seat passengers suddenly slide their seats all the way back, that will definitely crush my little ones feet.😮

Spot on review with the Highlander. My wife and I were looking at different 3rd row seat SUVs. The Highlander is really a small SUV for 3 kids. There’s so much better options.

I'd love to see her review the 2023 Prius next year. Not your classic family car for sure but would like to see if it could work as a 2nd car for a small family.

Toyota came up with Grand Highlander just to solve the tightness of Highlander third-row seat. The hybrid version of the Grand Highlander it's going to have the same powertrain like the the one shown in this video.

I say yes...we bought it in feb n i have 17,000 on it already. Lots of room for four of us with captains chair. Hybrid is great averaging 39-40

Wish I knew about your KZfaq channel before I went and spent 4 hours at a Toyota dealer, negotiating price and then when the car was brought to us test driving and then they let us put our car seats in to find out that of course he doesn't fit in the third row. A Facebook user recommended your Facebook to me today.

Toyota is great in not making big family friendly cars. Highlander being the master followed by sienna. Last hopes in grand highlander, but pretty sure this one won't go to Europe... Atłas and Expedition are the best!

We really wanted to get a Toyota and hybrid would have been awesome. In the end, it was the third row space that we couldn’t live with having 3 kids.

The tiny third rows on Highlanders have always been a huge fail. If this works for you, you almost certainly don't need a three row SUV. So why pay for one? I have never understood it.

Great review. Continually disappointed with the Hylander. I just can’t get over how ugly it is, even though the hybrid gets amazing mileage.

After my experience with the Highlander Hybrid I can give my opinion as "NO!!! It's a terrible car! WHEN it loses power, A tow company will need to come and unlock your door. After gaining access the tow operator will be able to pull the lever that unlocks the hood. This will give access to the main charge port. A powerful (not the ones you can buy for $99.95) jump pack is then attached to the port. The operator must work quickly because the vehicle is power hungry. This energizes the brakes, steering, etc. The operator can then load the vehicle. It will almost certainly need to go to the dealer to get it operational. Power will then need to be supplied to unload the vehicle, and external power again applied to get the vehicle into the shop. When the vehicle loses power it becomes a giant, and expensive paperweight. Vehicles need to be reliable, not liabilities. Toyota had it right with the Landcruiser 60 series, but sadly they had to go and "improve" it.
