Hi Cathy - Instead of pin basting on the floor, purchase some large mattbaord and cut it to the size of your dining room table, it may take two sheets. Use some dollar store rubber shelf liner under neath to keep it from sliding. This will save your back, save your knees and protect your table top. Highly recommend doing this. It stores easily behind a shelving unit, dresser or china cabinet when not in use. This is what I do to protect my dining room table where I both cut, sew and baste. Hope this helps you or anyone else!! Have a fabulous day and greetings from a rainy day in MN!!!!

Kudos to you for producing that gorgeous napping quilt in two days! You and Paul do an amazing job making these videos for us. I started watching this with morning coffee and had to pause halfway through so I could go off to my first ever quilting class. Now it's evening and I watched the end with a whole new appreciation of how tired you must have been at the end of two solid days. My shoulders hurt and my brain is mush after a simple beginner's class about piecing rectangles, half square triangles, and flying geese.

Wow..I love this! You are brave to do this and film it! lol I did a Sew Can She 3 yard quilt pattern in a week, around regular life. And it about did me in. I was so happy to gift it at a special friend’s party but never again. I realized I really don’t like to sew all day and I was moving from step to step quickly and didn’t have time to savor any of it. What a project! It came out beautifully, great colors, and it looks soft :) Yup quilting is slow work, from picking the colors, to deciding a pattern, and on and on, but when we're done it is a fabulous feeling!!! I do not have a long arm either and have really been trying to figure out what kind of a quilt finisher I am. Each quilt in the last year I've experimented with straight stitching and free motion. I always struggled with the free motion, but I discovered a different way to go about it and I just have to share. Its totally set me free to enjoy adding free motion as filler to my straight stitching. I watched an interview with a quilt shop owner that said she free motions with her feed dogs up! My brain just couldn't wrap my head around what she said, I went straight to my machine put my free motion foot on and gave it a try. Oh my gosh, I felt like I won the lottery. You free motion just like you would otherwise, but for me my stitches were so even, which never happened with dog feeds down no matter how much I practiced. Its made finishing my quilts so much fun to mix the straight stitching with free motion. Anyway, long winded, sorry, but I just had to share, and maybe you've already tried this :)

I completely understand the reminder to not ‘hunch’ your shoulders. I did that all the time. I have found relief by extending the table surface to the left of my sewing machine to take the weight of the quilt sandwich while I quilt. To do that I put my ironing board at the same height of my sewing table and snuggle them together. The extra surface really helps me to relax my shoulders. Give it a try and see if it works for you. Love the video❤

Well done, Cathy and Paul In completing your Quilt and videoing the whole weekend. I think you demonstrate admirably how fatiguing it is both physically and mentally and that we often underestimate how long a certain process can take. My time limits are set by my muscle groups due to a disability and I normally allow myself a month to complete a quilt for a gift. Anything less than that and I'm congratulating myself. I make mistakes if I rush it and want to enjoy the process. Rest your poor brain and body as you have to return to work now! Have a snack and a nap under your new quilt.

Bamboo batting is honestly the best … I love it (I bought a whole roll of it and I’ve never been disappointed with any quilt I’ve made with it). It’s just so pleasant to work with.

I love to sew and sing to Disney movies as well!! I just decided this morning to make a quilt for a bridal shower, that is one June 23rd. I will be doing a lot of singing in the next few weeks! I love the linen quilt, cannot wait to make one myself.

I used to hate doing the quilt sandwich but I watched a YT video of Rob Appell showing how to use a table or kitchen island . Having bought the clamps that he recommended I gave it a try and now I actually enjoy the process and it takes half the time 👏🏽

The quilt is beautiful and does look cozy. As I watched this video, I'm working on a quilt top for charity. It's for my quilt guild so we have to turn in volunteer hours So I'm trying to keep track as I go. It's amazing how long things take. I keep thinking "man, I'm slow". 🤣

Loved, loved, loved watching this! The quilt is wonderful and I also love your choice of binding fabric. ❤❤I hope you were able to snuggle under it for a long rest day next!! I want to make this quilt soon for myself (not in a marathon but casually over a couple of weeks ((a month)) maybe). I wonder… I think I’ll watch again and write out time spent for each step! It would help in planning what to do when. I like to plan. Plans of mine rarely go as planned, lol. But a goal is good - do you know what I mean? Thank you so very much for sharing with us! 😊

I LOVVVVVVVVE your quilt 😭 I love process videos and this was SO good!! It shows REAL expectations...I always feel like I'm soooooo slow, forgetting all of the smoke and mirrors that goes into editing to make everyone appear to be so fast at quilting. I used Winline bamboo batting in my last quilt, and it's my favorite batting I've used. I haven't tried wool or silk batting yet, but eventually I will.

I enjoyed your warm and soothing video, a first for for me. I liked that you admitted creating a quilt is a long process and exhausting. All the other videos I have watched gave the impression it was quick and easy. I decide on my pattern, purchase the fabic.laundry it,iron it, lay it out, cut it and then it's time to sew! I make mistakes and start over which I see no others doing. So far, all my quilts are gifts which are created just for the recipients with lots of love.❤ Thank you for your honest well presented video. I feel better about my quilting.
