I've watched every JG video (including this one at least twice), and I've been trying for two years to get my two cats to just...coexist without fighting. I kept my timid cat in my office with me for two months (fifth or sixth time I've done the whole, reintroduce them from scratch, closed door, treats, pet gate, treats and toys, etc.) When they finally progressed to calmly looking at each other (and even sharing toys!) through the gate for several weeks, I tried opening the gate. For two days, everything was good. Napoleon cat came in, all curious-like, but any time things got tense I intervened. I thought we were making progress. Then this morning, timid cat slunk out (and yes, I've been working on building up her confidence for well over a year! Including JG's supplements for both of them!) and unfortunately, went into the laundry room right before Napoleon cat came around the corner. Timid cat felt trapped in the small laundry room, and all of a sudden screams and fur flying. Sigh. I can't watch them 24/7. All I can do I guess is ONLY allow them into the same space when I'm actively there to watch them. These two are so difficult.

OMG 😩 I literally have the same problem I feel so bad for my timid cat because he loves his cat dad (who’s attacking him) n jus wants to be his friend n jus loves to play but my Cat tht be attacking its like he has some type of anger for the timid cat but for no reason I show both of them equal love and play time but sometimes I have to lock up the angry cat in the cat because he be stalking my timid cat down and I can’t watch them all day so it’s ALOT n I’m not giving none of my cats away, I have 2 girls and 2 boys and he only act like tht with his Son, he licks his daughter n don’t mess with his sister but if he does she snaps at him lol so he knows not to mess with her I yell w. The stern voice as well but most the times I’m late to the attack and I jus hear my timid cat scream and come running to see fur flying and my aggressive cat running off he knws he’s doing something bad too cus every time I come to check he meows, runs off and hides the attacks use to be not as much but it’s worst basically every day he’s hunting and attacking him and idk what to do it’s stressful for me but more for my timid cat I just want them to get along 💙

My cat is an indoor cat and she loses her mind(she is the mellowest cat ever) when she hears and sees the neighborhood cats fighting in her yard. Her little 8lb self broke a brand new window screen to tear out after them. She flails her extremely muscular body against the glass if I close the windows which I have to do now. But I recently discovered one thing that will break the spell when she hears/sees them is to say Lickie. Her lickie treats are her fav thing in the world. Since I discovered that, my windows are safe again. As long as I’m in the room when it happens. Which it usually is cuz they generally fight outside my bedroom window around 1am. Oy!

Years ago, I heard some blood-curtling squeals coming through the window, and when I opened the blinds, my cat was sitting calmly on the window sill, waiting to be let in, while two males were in the midst of a very loud, angry staredown, which had taken on a life of its own. To stop them from killing each other, I dumped a big pitcher of water on them and watched them scurry in opposite directions. I like to think I saved their owners some sizable vet bills and that maybe, having found a common enemy in me, they eventually learned to get along.

Another thing that might help is intimacy film on your window (or the lower part of it) that blurs the sight. I found this helped a lot with my cat who was turning crazy every morning around 4-5 am, which turned out to be due to a new cat in the neighbourhood passing by every morning on the fire escape stairs right in front of it. Turns out if she can't make eye contact with the cat or read its body language clearly, she stays calm and doesn't scream.

I have a large multi-cat household (10 cats: all rescues whom I got neutered right after adopting them). The fights between the cats are endless, usually caused by a couple of super-aggressive cats (one male / one female). I can indeed stop the fights that these two want to initiate with other cats, by using just a verbal command, but only when I am physically present in the room. On many occasions, the fights happen when I am in another part of the house or out. I get very distraught when I am faced with such a situation because I feel so mad and helpless. However, the female cat's behaviour has improved quite a bit lately as she seems to have taken note of my frustration with her. But the opposite seems to be happening with the male cat whose aggressive behaviour is going crescendo. I love him very much, but I feel that I have reached now the end of my tether! Not many solutions at my disposal. I live in a country where re-homing a cat is simply mission impossible. The only option I started to consider is to let him live outdoors where he could join a community of strays living not far from my house. He is used to them as he does hang out with them when I let him out during the day. But these strays (whom I feed daily / I have also managed to get most of them neutered) are exposed to all kinds of dangers, especially dog attacks (large numbers of stray dogs tend to roam the neighbourhood at night). One thing is sure: the situation has to change soon as I may be able to physically, emotionally and mentally carry-on single-handedly taking care of all the rescues and strays that come my way while trying to meet the demands of a very hectic job. However, I cannot continue to deal, at the same time, with the high tension and drama generated on a daily basis by the aggressive behaviour of that one kitty. Would be grateful for any tip or piece of advice.

Something I added to this protocol is progressively associate it with a voice prompt. I knew my cats understood simple voice commands, so every time I split a stare down, I'd say the same word ("Nice"), preferably with no stress, tension or threat in my voice (aiming to model 'calm and friendly' and not add to the tension already there) and praise and reward them when they walked away by their own volition or before I actually reached them to separate them. With consistency, I ended up often being able to break a stare down by just saying "Nice" from where I was sitting without always having to physically intervene! Granted, this wasn't effective 100% of the time, I still occasionally had to get up and do it, but effective enough that I saw their relationship noticeably improve over time. (written in past tense because my boy passed away this year and now my missie is an only child)

You are so right. I live with four cats, two male, two female and they go through cycles of this, not too often, but I do not like it, so as soon as it starts I snap my fingers at them and stern voiced demand that it stop. They are so used to that they tend to stop with only the finger snap now. All of a sudden they remember something they have to do elsewhere.

My tip is don't have a singlet and let it fester if you are ever going to want multiples. Two is a good place to start, 2 kittens from the same litter is the best good choice. A cat that has been an only cat for years will often want to be an only cat forever. That, and gradualism. Don't push your luck. Picture a cat's comfort zone like a bubble. Treat it how you would treat a bubble. Slowly. Carefully. Nudge it. Carefully.

We adopted a 6 month old stray kitten a year ago, our oldest cat did not like it. We did the correct acclimation/introduction and they can eat together and generally just kinda avoid each other, but every so often he'll get playful and she HATES that, so the hissing and fighting starts from her end only. His main goal is to play, she wants to be left alone. As soon as I hear the hissing I'll say "hey!" loudly and distract the younger one. We also have our middle cat who sometimes will referee and distract the younger one with grooming or a playful wrestle so our old lady can escape under the bed.

I have 3 cats that were born feral and still (5 years for 2 litter mates who have hated each other from the start). Then another who became an orphan that I felt sorry for and let him come in. That’s 2 males and 1 female. Then there’s the neighbor’s male cat, a short hair that they think it’s ok for him to live outside all year with no shelter! So that’s 3 males and 1 female that I just inherited over time. I know cats are very territorial. They all hate each other but so far don’t fight tooth and claw but there’s a good bit of glaring and chasing. So far the one being chase finds a place to hide and somehow they work it out. They eat in the same room but I let 2 eat on my table because one male will take their food. The stress of tension in my apartment is very hard on me and them too. I feel that my first male gets depressed because I won’t let him get rid of the intruders. I don’t know how to make it better for all of us. I’ve tried pheromones that didn’t help. I’m 77 years old with a too soft heart. I fear I’m not really improving their lives. Can anyone help me? I spend all my time and energy procuring food and cleaning up after them. I have none left to play with them and playing with 4 cats is not possible for many reasons, especially competition.

Use a laser pointer - really you just have to sit and wherever you point the laser the cats will go. My son was using the laser at times to get the cats to shut his door when he was in bed and didn't want to get up. Question: Are your cats fixed? If they aren't then problems definitely will arise. Years ago I got two male kittens. My cousin who was a vet asked if they had been neutered yet, they were six months at the time. He said if I wait any longer they'd kill each other. Scent is also very important and should remain consistent. I don't know what you were doing with pheromones, but as an example, my youngest cat is a long-haired tabby and he had a matted belly so he needed to go to the groomer. They shaved his belly and gave him an anti-bacterial bath. When he came home, the other cats didn't recognize him due to his smell. It took three days until he wasn't growled at, hissed at, or spit at. Sure wished the groomer had mentioned this before the bath. So, lacking the energy for physical play, get a laser! Peace.

That must be really hard in an apartment. I think Jackson Galaxy mentioned in the live pre-video chat the utility of having multiple vertical-level spaces for cats. His books talk about that. I don't have a lot of money so my approach has been to try to create spaces for them so there are places for each cat to sit in a different window. There are places to sleep at floor level, and at couch or windowsill height, and on top of a tall bureau - cat beds all over the place, with plenty of options. I have bookcases and storage cabinets next to each other so my cats can jump from one to another. I've been watching Jackson's videos for a while and feel like he's such a great resource. Lately I'm thinking more about separating my cats for meals, so they are not in each other's line of sight when they're eating. It's fascinating watching how they play if they're both chasing a laser pointer at the same time. They take turns chasing the light, each in her own territory. One cat chases in the hallway and kitchen, but when I bring the light into the living room, the first cat stops at the threshold and the other cat takes up the chase in the living room, on and off the furniture. Then they will both chase up and down the stairs. It's interesting to watch because they always do it exactly the same way. They seem to have agreed upon the rules. I think they are far more complex animals than usually given credit for. I'm fortunate enough to have more than one room in my home, and I've noticed over time one cat tends to sleep in the iiving room while the other tends to prefer to sleep upstairs. One sleeps low and the other sleeps high. They take turns at two of three windows, but one cat consistently uses a window the other cat rarely, if ever, uses. So it does seem the key is to have multiple separate spaces at different levels where they can sleep, eat, look out the window, play, and use the litter box. Hope this helps! Sounds like you've got your hands full!

@@saradavies5809 thanks for suggestions. I have thought about a laser but not sure if it wd help. My older male is so domineering when I try to play with a toy attached to a long rod by a string the male played while the female watched longing to play but afraid to try bc she knew the male wd just pounce on her and take the toy away. After a few tries she gave up and just watched him play. I have thought because when they were litter mates he was. always with the mama cat and she was the runt and sickly when born. All the other three kittens took her food away if she started to eat from a bowl (I put out one for each). She started to wait for then to finish then she wd eat from the leftovers. She started to come to me and let me pet her after I put out the food. Eventually I fixed her a bowl and gave it to her inside. She gradually felt safe enough to come in and stay. Not long after that the male got sick with the virus that causes matting of the eyes. So i felt sorry for him and when he wanted to come in I let him. I have regretted that decision many times. But it’s too late now. After the 2nd litter was born my daughter got the local shelter to TNR. The moma cat and 3 of the kittens were trapped. My 2 included. The neighbor’s cat is neutered. That leaves the last one. He needs to go but I’m not sure if I can get him in the carrier and how do you keep one npo after midnight when there are 4 inside? I’m not sure if I can afford it and the neuter and all the food. I really should get two-one for each window upstairs. The last arrival is a cave dweller and a big trouble maker. Having high places for the others wd be ideal.

Yes, it IS VERY important to Intervene -- I remember that I am "Top- Cat"... and things CAN and SHOULD be done for ALL of them. You CAN help them all be at peace with each other. AND Yes, like Children, you RE-DIRECT. And, Support them ALL if you have multiples... (I do). That Breaking of Sight, Totally Cool. I have noticed that when 2 are having a bit of a trouble, that the others come in to, investigate, and will come in to the "pile" IF you don't Tend to the problem. I think it also important to LOVE and support EACH of them. I have seen people mistreat one cat over another because of the owner's Own Feelings, and THAT is considered Abuse. If there is a cat one is having a feeling problem with, one should find that kitty Another GOOD, loving and Supportive home for it. I have been a multiple cat owner for almost 50 years and this all I have found to be true. Thank You so VERY much Jackson.

I have 2 male cats among 7 that if either one of them gets crazy, the entire pack goes nuts. The worst part is that they are quite unpredictable. They dont have attitudes with us,but they have problems with my other cats. While the other cats can all live in harmony, these 2, Coffee and Latte are herendously territorial. Sometimes those 2 gang up on one cat, sometimes they even fight against each other. So I have no idea how to prevent or even fix their relationship rn

(If the boys are unneutered, that's good thing to start with to lower their aggression especially If this is regular thing. Doing it to both at the same time can help them recover in peace, but also isolating them while drugs are coming off is good. Weird chemical smell can provoke the other one and being still drugged up can leave them especially vurnable to eye scratches.) My two cat sisters used to be even more at odds. Things that seemed to help were: 1.) Have feeding alarm, they'll be a bit calmer when there is clear sign at right times each day. 2.) Feed the cats somewhat according to the hierarchy (place the boss cats food bowl down first). This is so much easier with just two off course, but there might be good practical tips somewhere. 3.) Provide more enrichment. I'm very much guilty of letting my girls becoming pent up balls of energy which can translate into anxiety and fighting. When trying to get back into it, using food toys (things that cats have to swat at to get kibble, throwing dry food etc. Throwing some kibble/refilling toy is good after feeding activity. You can fill up multiple toys and then toss some too maybe. Just gotta take care with their weight, and give them a bit less food during feeding to not give them so much surplus snack calories. If you have catio/separate cat friendly space you can try play with different cats when isolating the rest. Prioritizing trouble makers shouldn't leave others completely without playtime. Cat nip can help cats rustiness to playing and let more timid ones lose some steam. 4.) Give them more vertical/high spaces. Having more options for real estate makes stand offs less likely. If there is nice high shelve that you can only access through the scratchpole, it can lead to confrontantions. Try to add more connections so they wont block path from each other as much. 5.) More cat litter boxes and consider switching to wooden pebbles. Not having their smells compete against other cats as much can ease territorial vibes and is nicer for them. I gotta get box that helps to get rid off piss saw dust quicker, but otherwise I really like my current set up.

@@lulul0l039 Also another question about feeding cats: How much and how often should I feed my cat in a daily basis? Ive just watched The Food,The Bad and The Ugly and Ive realised Ive made a mistake. Now dont you worry we do give our cats wet food before, its just that we are not sure if we are giving them wet food as often as we should. Once my Mushi had kidney stones and I could not tell if it was because of the wet food or dry food. Im pretty sure its the dry food now, but Im still worry too much wet food would still have the same effect if Im not careful. Also just to let you know: My feeding routine is one wet food meal everyday, and we also mix it with rice to kinda balance it out. Is this actually a good or a bad move to feed them this way? And how should I improve it? Also what do you do to keep your cats in check when you have to go far and visit a family for a few days or sumtin? I've watched them go through it partly because I didn't know if they were playing or fighting, and partly because if they were fighting, I wanted to figure out what the fight was about. This is very helpful. We recently took in my Mom's 13-year-old tortie Patience, while having our own 14-year-old black cat Sable as the last of a litter of five kittens we raised from 10 days old (that's another story). Sable is willing to get along with Patience, but Patience is extremely territorial, even though she's the newcomer. So there have been moments (a lot of them) of bullying on Patience's part, practically pushing Sable into the bathroom, or a corner of a bedroom, or trapping her on the stairs and not letting her pass. Patience is the only one striking out and screaming. Sable just wants to move freely about her own home. My daughter and I have been looking for ways to mitigate this and help them get along. We'll try these techniques and see what we can do to relieve the stress. (It doesn't help that we recently had a fairly major disaster in the home -- sewer backup in the lower level -- that compromises the square footage of territory available for either cat to inhabit. Just another level of stress.)

I adopted my daughter's cat 4 years ago and he was so skittish from being abused by her ex boyfriend since kitten hood and then thrown out of their house and he had been attacked by a dog and outside cats. Well it took a while but he fell in love with me and my husband and I became a cat person! So I thought he needed another cat to play with and I adopted a ragdoll cat from a rescue who was supposed to get along with cats. Well they got in a fight 2x and my husband had to pull him off my original cat who was injured in his mouth. Long story short that's how I found you. Its been 2 years of following all your ideas and separation and slowly getting them integrated and then supervised integration with water sprays if there's any hint of aggression from the ragdoll. Now the original cat a tuxedo is the boss but not a mean boss lol and the ragdol Meeshak l is in love with Bingo who is beginning to like him. They play 2x a day and now share a room at night. They used to have their own rooms but they both prefer to share now! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and ideas with us. It was so stressful now it's so worth it.

My (former foster now adopted) cat often picks fights with a neighbor’s cat in the garden. Also attacks lizards & birds for fun. So now I start our days off telling him a ‘morning mantra’ that goes: I’m gonna let you go in the garden. Today, we are not going to pester the neighbor’s dog, she could really hurt you. We are also not going to pester or provoke the other neighborhood cats, especially the neighbor’s cat in the rear garden. Don’t go into his garden and if he provokes or bothers you, just come home. We’re also not going to hurt any little animals today. Leave the birds, lizards & other critters alone and don’t bring any home ». Felt silly at first to say that out loud to the cat… but it has actually helped 😅! Hardly any fights or critters brought back into the house since. 🤞 I have tried to break up my cat & the neighbor’s cat’s stare downs but they blatantly ignore me every time or look at me and return to their stare down… they’re also out of reach every time they fight so morning mantras it is 😅🤷🏼‍♀️

In an old housing situation, I had a roommate with an old man of a cat, angry at everyone, who HATED my 3-year old cat. They had a slow introduction, and got along fine with the other cats in the house, but it seemed Mr. Old Man just could not tolerate my mild boy. They would fluff up and growl whenever they got near, and we mad ethe mistake of trying to gently push them apart with our feet. Bad call. Many wounds. They got I to these awful scraps sometimes, but usually they'd stay in stare mode or just exchange a blow or two then chase the other off,but it was not good. We tried distracting them with toys, which to be fair, would WORK, until they both went after the same toy, hot up close to each other, and then flipped out. Eventually we wound up just locking my cat up in my room during the day, and their cat up during the night (especiallyif no one was home), but it was such an annoying solution, because they wanted to be out and about the house and not co fined to a single small room, but we didn't want to leave them alone together. We never did try the sight blocker, but again, that only really works if you're there to do it. Was there anything better to do in that situation?

Alright. I need help. A few months back, I lost a kitty to cancer. The other kitty in the house took it pretty hard. He became very clingy and very loud. Fast forward to about a month ago. I decide to rescue a kitty. She's 4 years old and a 4x declaw. She bites because of this. I have dealt with this before and know I'm a good choice to give her her best life. At first, everything was fine. She did not like the other kitty, but never attacked and neither did he. He stayed upstairs, she stayed downstairs. She could not care less about the dogs. She hangs out on top of bookshelves and fridges and cabinets. But then she started defecating in inappropriate places downstairs, even after the third litterbox was moved downstairs for her. Then, Halloween happened. The dogs were barking, the doorbell was ringing, children yelling. New kitty ventured upstairs and then the other kitty attacked her. So, I started introduction all over again. I isolated her in her room. After a week of this going well and eating peacefully on each side of the door, I did the environment swap. I kept them hidden from each other and let him into her room and let her into my room. Then put them back again. That evening, when I went to feed them, other kitty was waiting at the door to new kitty's room. I very carefully open the door and try to squeeze through with my legs in his face, but he's a living noodle and bursts into the room and attacks her without any obvious warning signs. No eye contact. No growling. No war stance. Mo tail flipping. Just BOOM. I start over. We're back to eating on each side of the door again. Today, he busts into the room again and attacks, no sound, no sight, just speed slithered in and took off at her the moment he spotted her. It'll be two weeks of isolation on Monday. She's such a sweet, affectionate kitty, who loves to play and be pet (carefully). I hate keeping her locked away. I'm afraid that, after the halloween incident, he realized she can't defend herself and this has emboldened him to go after her. I've even invested in pheromone diffusers (to no noticeable effect)

We have 6 cats, 5 are spayed/neutered while the one is not (Forrest) because of a risk 50/50 to live if we proceed with the surgery now (said by vet)... And 1 of the 5 cats is like an alpha (Meewa) who has been harming Forrest because he sprays... We know why he sprays because he sees a stray cat going near our home or when there's something new in the house (Mostly when my mom/sister brings something new). Meewa can smell this from another room and he would find Forrest and bully him, chase, smack him hard with claws out. Forrest doesn't fight back and just runs under the oven, in a carrier or the bedroom. Forrest has alot of scars and bald spots on him. We try to stop them when we can but when we re working, sleeping, doing stuff in another room and they are not in our sight we can't do anything but run to them and shout "Hey stop that!"... We can't also put Forrest in one room because he is friends with Mooncake. And Mooncake meows really loud when he wants something like go in a room, wants to be accompanied or just wants attention. He wakes up my partner with his meows and that stresses him, gets frustrated, and grumpy in the day bc of lack of sleep... Sometimes Meewa doesnt mind Forrest's presence and sometimes i have to be there when Forrest is using the cat litter as Meewa is focused in watching him. What can I do? We have to check after a few more months to see if Forrest's medical situation has improved and is able to be neutered.

I have one cat who has never quite fit in with the other three. She only has one eye, and had a rough start in life - which she doesn't appear able to shake off. She sometimes harasses my oldest cat, who only has three legs and was declawed by his original owner. She also growls and stares at the other two cats when they try to walk past her. There have been a couple ugly fights when I wasn't home, but if I see something brewing between two of them I now use the word "disengage", which they're learning. I always have a spray bottle on hand just in case, but usually verbal warnings, followed by physically stepping between them if that doesn't work, are enough to break the tension.

Even worse, the one that runs away is bitten from the back which inflicts very dangerous wounds, while the one that attacks is injured on the head (eyes are particularly vulnerable).

My aunt’s 2 cats, a senior male and a 5-6 year old female both altered, fight sometimes. The male is the antagonist and the poop 💩 starter. My Jack Russell terrier has broken them many of times by getting in between them a body blocking them. My Daisy usually protects the female and goes to her to push them apart, she’s never been hurt and the cats stop as soon as she comes running. She always protects the victim. Now my little dog is very jelly of the cats but she doesn’t like them fighting. We call her officer Daisy who likes keeping the peace

I once ended up staying at my parents after travelling abroad then coming back to the UK. I brought my cat with me too. My parents however had just had a cat that died so had bought another cat at the same time as I brought my cat. As my cat had been there before & was secure in the house but the new cat had temporarily been first in the house for literally a couple of weeks before I came with my cat, the 2 male cats ended up both territorially insecure. Therefore every time they got the chance, they would end up fighting each other. Most of the time if they were able to ignore each other, they were fine, just often if they were coming in & out of doors, if they found each other suddenly blocking the others path, they would feel affronted & might end up in a scrap. Mostly in those cases it was easy to separate each other. However one time, I was staying alone in the house looking after them while my parents had gone away on holiday. It was evening, then suddenly there was a small earthquake that went on for about a minute. It was really freaky with the whole foundations of the house shaking & books falling off the shelves. For some reason both cats decided they wanted to go to the safest place that ended up both of them going to the middle of the house upstairs, then they both ended up in the same spot, scared, & ultimately then turned into demons fighting to the death. Shouting at them was not possible. Putting my hands in the middle was not possible. The nearest thing to hand was literally a chair, I literally picked it up & stuck the chair legs in the middle of them. That then freaked them both out more than they were already freaked out with each other & woke them up out of their trance as they both sprinted off to their respective corners at the other ends of the house. I then locked one cat in the kitchen, & inevitably had to take my cat into my bedroom to let him lick his wounds in private. His hackles were up so badly, I could literally sense the static of his fur with my hand! At least they both survived!

I trained my aggressive, very territorial cat 2 phrases... Hey, Felix be nice! And... Go on!... At first, it was enough to pause her and grab the other cat, usually. Now, I can just say the words and the other cat will run and Felix will let them go. She requires more personal space than my other cats. She is very loving and kind to dogs and humans. Treats and toys are great... But my voice is always with me! It takes longer, but if you repeat the same phrases and response to each incident the cat will learn to predict what is going to happen and it will comfort them. Felix knows she was heard and the threat is going to go away. So she gives pause. Take care!

A cat found us in bad shape so we took her to the vet and are keeping her as we work with a cat Organization to find her a home. At first my other cat was ok then after time started to attack her. They have to be separated at all times. There is no stare down. It’s straight attack. She will run across a room and pounce on her.

I get what you are saying, my roommate wanted a second kitten and her older cat has refused to accept her. Now that the kitten is no longer the little kitten, they still do not get along. Part of me wants them to fight it out, but part of me knows that this will just result in further tension. We break them up if they fight and tend to separate them if one has to pass through the other's area, but every night when there are no humans, one goes out of their way to attack the other.

We own 8 cats. They do fight, but never to the point where they're ripping eachother's fur out. Just a quick scuffle most of the time, with warning growls to tell which ever other cat is bugging them to leave them alone. Claws are never usually extended in these. I usually hear it from my room, but when i do see a staredown, i break it up quickly. Our cats aren't prone to attacking us, usually just me getting between them, and shooing one of them will break it up. Only one of our cats has really attacked me, and that is only when she is overstimulated. I pace a lot, and she doesn't like it when i do. This is why i will usually guide her out when i see signs that she will soon start attacking my legs. Never anything serious though, just a small warning bite that doesn't even hurt at first. Though i know from experience they get worse if i don't guide her out. I am also this cat's human, and so she tags along with me around the house a lot of the time which makes it next to impossible to avoid these situations if i do decide to pace. It's a coping mechanism of mine. I won't lock her out of the rooms i pace in because for one, she hates closed doors, and will consistently scratch until i open it, but also it feels so wrong to just force her to stay away. She's a traumatized cat. She used to be my father's cat, but i was always her second favorite person. My father was rather abusive, and we had to put him away. After that, she started clingling to me, practically. She never let me out of her sight, and even now she doesn't let me out of her sight for too long, and it has been 6 years since my father was locked up. She gets worried about me too, and when she cuddles with me, she always has at least three of her paws touching me. These are the reasons i don't keep her separated. I think we both needed eachother after the mess we went through. My beloved Sabi is 11 now, and will be 12 next spring. I'm cherishing all the time i still have with her.

I'd be curious to hear if Jackson had any suggestions about this. Have you tried giving her something snuggly that has your scent on it, like a sweater? Maybe then you could close the door without freaking her out, because she'd be reassured by your scent - ?

@@saradavies5809 she honestly prefers my presence over anything else. When i'm out on trips, she stays in my room. Even when i'm in the bathroom, which has a door connected to my room, if i'm sick, or taking a while, she starts clawing the door. Even when she is in my room. I think she's scared of losing me like she lost my father.

Hi Jackson, you dont know me but I’ve been watching your content for a very long time. My one kitty of 13 years had to be put down in July do to cancer in his neck and mouth that was only causing him pain. There was no cure. My other kitty has distention in his stomach that seems to of developed after only 2 months and its seeming like it could be cancer or something bad because its a comfirmed infection and high white blood cell count. I didn’t notice because some of his normal actions over the years added up. He divided he didn’t want one type of hard food so i got him something more smelly and higher in protein. He seemed to plump up to me because of the belly but now i see it was an issue and he was actually losing weight. He is 14 and something and I can see it seems I may lose both my kitties this year. They have been my life and my comfort all this time. They give to me as much clear care and love as I have been giving to them which is something no one else does for me. They ask for only that and dont judge but love. Im scared tho think of what my life will be like without them. Im terrified of losing the only love that I feel has been without any expectations but to give as much as I receive. Ive never been without cats my whole life and never only has one so even this has been hard. I was grieving the loss of my beloved little son and now to lose another I dont know what to do. I know you dont know me, most likely no one will read this but i see your care and experience with cats and animals so I knew you’d get the pain

Not saying it would never get serious, but our cat "fights" tends to be a miscommunication of sorts. Siam wants to play. Nefertiti doesn't. Most of the time it ends with Nefertiti gaining the high ground (insert meme here) and Siam deciding to venture off somewhere else. True to his dominant breed, Siam is an attention/affection seeker and will take as much anyone will give him. Nefertiti likes it sometimes, but only when she's in the mood and not any sooner. So the "fight" goes like this: Siam goes to lick or play, Titi growls a "not now", Siam ignores it, Titi gives a sterner "No!" followed by a warning slap, Siam thinks "Oh, good! We're playing now", Titi repeats previous warning and slap, Titi then takes off to her perch, Siam follows her until a light bulb goes off, Siam realizes that Titi isn't playing and walks away pouting, and everything is finally zen. There's never been a stare down and we have no problems distracting Siam before things might get serious.

It's old as ancient time in their primal instinct that when a certain group come together there will be bound a showdown of high-achy of exclusivity of takes priority primary in mating or reward in a group and that position is constantly challenge. It's not their fault if they can't help it.

my oldest cat is a bit of a grump sometimes, and he'll bully the other cats away from the window if he wants to sit in the window by himself, and he does that stare down at their butts before he pounces. I've gotten really good at catching the moment before he's about to cause trouble and nipping it before it happens.

My dad used to close his shop down and make sure the cat was inside. He made the mistake of grabbing the cat by the tail from keeping it running outside before the door closed. That cat latched onto his leg and I’ve never seen someone scratched and tore up ever in my life. Looked like he got into a fight with a wolverine. Never grab a cat by the tail and pull it. Lol.

@@BrittMFH Jackson has a lot of tips on his channel, and there’s a lot of info on reintroducing tense cats on the clips from My Cat From Hell that Animal Planet has on KZfaq. Keep researching. I’m sure your Siamese will be able to leave your room without being a danger to the other cats eventually. Obviously the problem can’t just be fixed with medication. You’ll have to reintroduce the cats properly, since it wasn’t done right before.

I don't dare let the sound of multiple cats fighting play on speakers right now. My youngest moved back in with his six cats about two weeks ago. I have three cats who are pretty territorial. They'll fight over who gets to sit next to me. Please make a version of this that has your remarks but does NOT have the screaming cats. We all know what that sounds like anyway. I really have to keep my cats at this end of the house and his at the other, but everybody is on edge! Thank you.

Thank you, that was good information. I've seen that moment and I instinctively interrupted their sight of each other. I always knew that I shouldn't use my body or touch a cat who is in fighting mode. But I think that I might've used my legs before to block them from each other. I guess I am lucky that they remembered that they love me.
