I know this song by Five Finger Death Punch means a lot to so many of you, including our veterans here at home. PTSD and other mental health disorders can absolutely be born from military conflicts, and you know how much I support getting help to those that need it. I am so grateful you all have pushed "Wrong Side Of Heaven" my way for so long. . . so much so, that I personally have donated to the Wounded Warrior Project and urge those of you that can support any veterans organizations in your country, please do so.
For those of you in the United States: www.woundedwarriorproject.org/

I am a vet with 2 tours of Iraq. I nearly took my own life 2 years ago. I watched the original video on the night I planned to end it. This song saved my life. I watched it 3 times and reached out for help. The Veteran's Administration has helped me put my life back on track. I still can't watch this video without crying. I can say 5FDP has saved my life and I will be a fan for the rest of my life.

These guys did a concert tour in Iraq and Afghanistan while I was deployed in 2009-2010 and I got to see them. It was just them and a couple hundred of us around a small stage. After, they shook hands and met with every one of us and talked to us like we were all just regular people seeing each other on the street. These guys are genuine.

I can not listen to 5FDP without crying. First, as a veteran listening to this and watching the video always just hits me hard. But secondly, my cousin used to take his youngest daughter to a lot of concerts and 5FDP invited her up on stage to headbang with them while they played and he got some cool pictures of it. He took his own life about a year and a half ago. So no matter what song I hear from them, I start bawling because his daughters no longer have a father, and I no longer have my elder cousin that taught me so much. Next month I'm going to take my daughter to her first concert, but I somehow doubt that either Rob Zombie or Alice Cooper are going to invite anyone on stage with them.

It's hard. I'm crying my fucking eyes out right now. They don't understand. You go home and your brothers are still there. And you can't help them! You want to go back and change something so they're alive. But if can't. And who do you blame? When you were right there and you could have done something or not done something. Who knows. But you're sitting right here and they're not. Why aren't they here? Why aren't they with thier family's right now? Why am I here and they aren't. You feel like you cheated or ran away. And they're still there fighting. And dying. And all you want to do is go and help them. If I had done a better job, they'd still be alive. Or maybe if I had died, they would have lived. All that's for sure is they're not here and I am. You are so torn. You get to see all the beautiful things. While they continue to fight. It's so fucked up. Why can't my brothers come home too? Did I... Nevermind. It's nothing. Everything is fine now. It's always been fine. I'm fine. I'm sorry. I. I have to g[now.sorru

At 22:34 he’s saying “you saved my life brother” after recognizing the man he served with. It’s isn’t just compassion and connect, it’s showing how different life after combat is for every vet. His reaction was hostility until he saw his brother in arms. This music video is so well done, it’s truly like a movie. It shows where all these men started and then life after war. So fucking cool.

The saddest part is that we shouldn't need them. If our country put a fraction of the resources we spend propping up other countries on taking care of those who fought for this country, we wouldn't need thousands of charities just to get vets the help they've earned many times over. It's absolutely disgraceful how this country treats veterans, and the most recent assault on their rights by the Biden administration is just another example of it.

Afghanistan combat veteran here, proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years and counting. First and foremost Thank you for your support. I absolutely have a love/hate relationship with this song. on one hand it's a beautiful song with meaningful lyrics that i see a bit of myself in. on the other hand as a veteran with PTSD this song always without fail makes me cry like a child. as much as I love to hear this song, there are times it's hard to bring myself to listen to it. however I also find when other things in life have me feeling down, I can listen to this song and let my raw emotions out so they aren't bottling up. Sadly this video mentions how 1 veteran takes their own life every 2 hours, and that is no longer the case, over the years there was a point where that number was as high as 45 veterans a day, and I believe the average is still aournd 22/ day or 1 veteran an hour.

What they did is silent to all but a very few, yet very loud in my mind. I have participated in several PTSD groups. I don't know that it will ever go away, we each have our own degree of coping. I struggle. But I also know they would kick my a$$ if I rang my own bell.

My dad had listened to 5FDP for years before I did, and even introduced me to their music. One day, he decided to play it on the living room TV and pulled up the music video. He had never seen the video for this song, and we sat together in tears through the whole video. He actually pointed out to me what it was he mouthed, and every time I hear this song that memory brings tears to my eyes. The story that the video alone tells, and then you add in the music and the text. What a masterpiece

I have no idea where anyone is or what happened to them after I got out. I never felt any connection with anyone I served with. In fact, it was quite the opposite most of the time. As a Veteran the best thing we can do going forwards is to not, as a country, solve our foreign problems with our military. We are not the worlds police force and our politicians on both side of the isle need to start remembering that. There seldom if ever the ones sending their own sons and daughters off to combat to suffer PTSD, devastating injuries or worse yet, death. In the present, our government needs to get their heads out of their asses and quit making veterans aid and care a political football. That would be an amazing start. We won’t even get into how criminally underfunded and inefficient the VA is.

I remember my first time hearing this song, I paused it and called my dad over and we both watched it. He teared up so much because he had some buddies that were transferred from his Navy unit, to combat and after the war they weren't given the proper love and care the Government should've given them. People call Five Finger Death Punch the Nickleback of metal, buuuut, I always loved Ivan Moody. I loved him since the band he was in before FFDP called Motograter. But yeah going back to talk about mine & my father's reaction to this, we both bawled our eyes out and I hugged him tight. He never experienced combat (Thank God), but he was supposed to be transferred to two battleships and got denied, but again Thank God he got denied both times because they came back destroyed, with little to no survivors, the survivors that did come back were severely wounded and even amongst the survivors, some were DOA. When he told me that... my heart sank. Because, if he indeed wasn't denied, I possibly would have never been born. On top of that, in 1991 he also suffered from ARDS (the stage of pneumonia that usually ends with death) and was saved with literally 5-10 minutes to spare before he would have been flatlined. I was born on November 2nd, 1994. So again... three incidents that would have resulted in me never being born.

I have watched so many of your reactions. I'm a choir guru and got about 80% of my music degree (voice) done before switching over to studying business because those hidden hours in music was killing me. 😂 That said... I'm also a combat vet with two back to back deployments to Iraq. Music was the one thing that kept me going so strongly whole over there. I was given the keys to a small chapel that wasn't being used. The chaplain gave me those keys because i told him i was a musician and he handed them over telling me the chapel had several instruments for me to feel free to go play. I got out in 2009 and didn't know about my mental issues until my PTSD about took me and my family out in 2015. I was in the middle of a horrible downward spiral that would've made my family homeless had we not had support from family and friends. Almost 9 years later, I'm still fighting to make it work. It sucks because much of this video is right. So many people and businesses throw around the words of support they think is necessary but without any heart. What I went through (and most of my friends from back then) becomes nothing more than a bullet point for the talking heads in society. It's a song like this that lets us know that there are people out there that really do try and see us. I've now had 13 friends die from either suicide or alcohol/drug addictions and 3 of those were car accidents while they were under the influence. It sucks... But we're out here doing what we can now.

As a 22 year old from a military family, and with my dad being in the army the first 17 years of my life, the song resonates with me too. I'm really close with my dad, and I'm one of few people he's opened up to about what he deals with. I haven't served myself, yet the song still hits me every time. Thank you so much! Most of us who serve have a passion for giving everything we can, and it can take quite a toll on our physical and mental health. I've recently had a 2nd surgery to the left side of my body. Each of my deployments cost me a relationship, including a fiance and a spouse. Severe sleep deprivation (averaging 2 hrs/night for 2 months) during one deployment significantly diminished my mental capacity / health, followed by pandemic isolation (no spouse to come home to) knocking me down further. Earlier this year, I was about 10% of who I was before that deployment. I've turned the corner and I'm on the mend, and my recovery has begun picking up speed but I still have a long road ahead. I'll retire soon and I'll be alright, but many have had a harder time than I.

I'm a veteran, but not a combat veteran--my wife is, and many of my military brothers and sisters are. I will never, ever pretend to know what they went through oversees when they were deployed, but I have never-ending compassion for any lingering effects, memories, and trauma incurred while fighting on behalf of our nation. This video gets me every time, especially that scene that you paused and spoke about human compassion. My best to all veterans, especially those suffering from demons due to their service.

I'm close friends with quite a few vets and active members. There has been one specific time, one of the brothers called me informing that another close vet friend of mine, named John, is ready to take his own life with the 1911 in his hand. I was the closest to him and drove well over 100 mph screaming my horn and flashing my LEDs to get through red lights and barge through his front door to pull him together with a former airman and friend on my tail to help. We got the pistol out of his hand and hugged him while he just crashed in tears and emotion. I have never seen John do that in my time knowing him. His trigger was yet another brother in arms, who took his own life in a tree a few days earlier with paper written with the words, "It's not worth living on Earth. May Odin deliver me to the halls of Valhalla." Still haunts me to this day that I almost lost John. Glad you enjoyed this song and bring forward that message. It is important. Thank you.

You have to check out Breaking Benjamin. Ben Burnley really has a ton of skill, power and melody in his voice. He can do everything ranging from powerful yet very melodic vocals and growling (like on 'Diary of Jane', which would be the best song to start your journey with them, and 'Evil Angel') all the way to singing with an angelic voice like on the song 'Ashes of Eden' which I would also highly recommend you listen to.

FFDP accompanied me during a difficult period in my life, which lasted 3 years. Ivan is the only vocalist who can make me emotional, mainly because of his anger and hatred in his voice. They're kind of like Nickelback, you either love them or you hate them. When you start listening to each of their songs, you can see that the theme is repeated but in different words. For people who are somehow hurt and need to vent emotionally, they are simply flawless. Everyone will find some song that will make you emotionally die inside. That's why I love them.

For me it is Jekyll and Hyde. That song literally takes me off this planet and disassociates me with reality. I work on the road, away from my family, often months at a time and unless you've done it, you don't know what that can do to people. No support system, just sitting on a island and misunderstood.

Couldn’t of said it better myself. They really are the best if you feel like you need to emotionally vent. Iv seen them live a few times now, and every time I come away feeling like Iv had an emotional release of some sort, like Iv let out all my hurt/anger, but in a positive energised way. As a band not only do that have a lead singer with an amazing voice, and amazing musicians, but I honestly don’t understand why they have so many haters considering the amazing lyrics, emotional/thought provoking music videos, and all the things that can make them relatable ie addiction, immigration, mental health ect.

I applaud you for your heartfelt and concise analysis of this song. It tears me up every time I hear it. The statistics cited in the video are 8 to 10 fold worse today. I'm a veteran of 30 years of service to our country. I've fought in every shooting war from Operation Urgent Fury in Grenade in 1983 to Afghanistan. When I retired in 2011, I went from the top of the totem pole to lower than the bottom. After seining what I've seen, and worse yet, doing what I've done in service to our country, transitioning to civilian life was utter hell for me. After being homeless for 5 years, salvation found me. The VA is undermanned, under budgeted, and overwhelmed. Combat veterans need to put aside their pride and seek out help, there is a lot out there. I'm doing much better these days, however, I will never be a human being again, it's too late for me. Anyway, I absolutely love your channel, you are awesome. If I may so bold, you are one of the most extraordinarily attractive women I have ever laid eyes upon! I am jealous of your husband, he's a very lucky man! Keep up the great work, love ya!!!!

This band has some of the hardest-hitting songs out there. Ivan Moody actually died for a few moments before being resuscitated, and his discussion of that is in the song "The Tragic Truth". The video is epic. The song "Wash It All Away" is one of their more popular songs with a great video. The song "Gone Away" (a cover of The Offspring original) is another one like this that shows what Veterans go through. "Remember Everything" is a fantastic song that speaks about household abuse and growing up with it. As a veteran, my favorite song of theirs is one that most never mention. It's a song called "Got Your Six". To me, it speaks to the fact that veterans take care of other veterans because it seems like we're the only ones looking out for each other. At the end of the day, none of us care about what branch we were in, where we served, or what we did. We just know that we have to be there for each other. I dedicate "Got Your Six" to all of us out there.

I remember I found this song in late elementary school. My brother spent 8 years as a grunt in the marines in Afghanistan, and everyday when we said the pledge of allegiance at school, I'd shed a tear just hoping that he'd come home. One of those days he came home and surprised me at school and we raced through a multiplication pop quiz in my class. He won of course. My brother is my hero for that and for that reason I shed another tear when I hear this song thinking about all he gave up, life, lives of friends, and liberty out of selflessness for us. God bless all who served!

She left 2 children behind one whom has severe issues and the other one who was too young to understand. I served 2002-2006 and everytime I see this video it's a gut punch. I always get emotional because I reflect on the friends and shipmates I lost (mostly due to their own hands or addiction). We have all felt despair, loneliness, helplessness, and in one way or another...forgotten. The best choice I ever made was to get help and go through therapy, it saved my life. I wasn't going to overtly end my life, but I was drinking myself to death. As of yesterday, I am five months sober and I feel like I finally have my life under control. The "system" (the VA) has failed so many of us. It isn't perfect, but I would like to think it is slowly getting better. Another great reaction, and thank you for what you do

It is difficult to watch this video without tears. Even without the visuals, the song has a lot of meaning and application. The vocals are haunting. One thing to note, there is a hard-to-hear track under the vocals where he isn't singing, but speaking the lyrics. That adds a kind of ghostly undertone. The production on this track is quite beautiful, in the way that it feels like it is meant to convey a message. You can feel the heartbreak in the lyrics.
