I have heard "25" by The Pretty Reckless being performed by my students for a long time now, and have seen this requested as we comb through your comments and suggestions. Our Patrons had enough and voted it on as their top song last month. So here we are! Taylor Momsen is just angelic. Let's find out why!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to The Pretty Reckless for the first time, performing "25”.

Elizabeth, Taylor did the Grinch somewhere around 6 y/o. What I think she meant at 11 y/o was... Being one of the top3 girls considered for the role Hannah Montana. Wondering what trajectory life would take if she had been offered that role...🤔 She has now called it a blessing in disguise... Which I agree because I Love her work in The Pretty Reckless

Suggest checking out *"Wild City"* and *"Back to the River"* from *The Pretty Reckless* for more awesomeness. This band is awesome, especially Taylor. But... the character of unplugged versions of these songs is different-not better or worse-from the studio/video version and ends up with different character than the original performance from which it was based. _It'd be completely awesome to see you provide compare and contrast studio versions against these intimate live performances._ (Ex.: How do vocalists and bands alter their approach to different performance settings?) ...while I'm at, recommend *"Superhuman"* from *Charlotte Wessels* (again!😛) 🤙🏼

Surprise review. Not many delve into Pretty Reckless. Marks for using the German word Dur for a major key, with diphthong being a small added bonus. So there's a lot of great Pretty Reckless songs: "Going to Hell," "House on a Hill," "Miss Nothing," "Make Me Wanna Die," and of course, "Heaven Knows." But if you really want to hear how deep the damage goes, the song you want is "Kill Me," where she goes into pretty explicit detail about what happened to her as a child star, among other things. If you check that one out, remember to buckle up and be ready for a real rollercoaster of negative emotion. And if you want to hear her and Lzzy Hale together, check out the cover that she, Lzzy, and Maria Brink from In This Moment released of Queen's "We Will Rock You," last year. There's a lot of menace in that cover.

I think Under the Water is also a very good, very dark song she did and goes well with "25". I've been hooked since someone showed me "Make Me Wanna Die" and there are almost no songs on any of her albums I would say are bad, some are just okay mind you, but none I'd skip and say it was bad.

When I first heard of the Pretty Reckless, I was inclined to write them off as a vanity project for a bored actress who thought she could sing. Then I listened, and really enjoyed the music, and saw some interviews with Taylor that made me think, “no, this girl really loves rock ‘n’ roll.” It’s been great watching her develop as an artist.

The best, most heart wrenching version was recorded live about 2 days after Chris' death. It's fan vid. So audio isn't perfect, but very good for what it is. However it's something very rare, a pure raw outpouring of grief and loss by a very talented artist. She had to pause several times to weep, but did an excellent job as she said "for Chris". Not only did she open for him that night, she waited for him after the show to thank him. She was one of the last people to see him alive. The next morning she found out he was dead.

I'm so glad Taylor Momsen and The Pretty Reckless are finally getting the appreciation they deserve. When their first album came out there were a lot of people thinking it was just a phase or a vanity project from a teenage actress looking to get some street cred, but I'm glad she's proven that she's a real deal rocker. Plus the music of the Pretty Reckless has been getting better with each new album, they have a number of pretty great songs. And since Lzzy Hale got mentioned, as much as I adore her voice, Halestorm's music leaves me quite indifferent by comparison to the Pretty Reckless. I find myself listening to their covers far more than their original songs. Lzzy absolutely rips on Dissident Aggressor.

Yeah, I remember her being mocked when she started music. Not just side eyed, but straight up mockery. It was really quite cruel stuff honestly. I find it interesting how her eyes add to the emotional impact of the song. She never looks up, at the viewer, always keeping her eyes closed or looking down ever so slightly, and deprived of that personal connection from having her look at you, it increases the context of listening to someone's private pain pouring out than it would otherwise.

There is not a single bad song she's recorded. She's has an absolutely stellar voice backed with life experience, desire, passion and wisdom. I've seen and heard many very famous singers s and she is absolutely the finest female vocalist today in rock, and maybe in and genre. Her band compliments her voice with the music they make together and is equally powerful. The song you reviewed is a sifter touch in mostly hard rocking songs, but listen to Harley...it could easily be a country hit. Just choose anything she sings, as absolutely nothing disappoints and she's a complete breath of fresh air in a worn out industry. Wonderful review !

It's been said already but I'm joining the chorus of voices in two things here: 1. you should definitely listen to the studio version of this song for full effect. 2. Maria Brink (from the band In This Moment) MUST be on your lookout as one of the next voices to react to on the channel!

Now you need to do a song from In This Moment, I recommend River of Fire, and then you can listen to their singer Maria Brink do We Will Rock You with Taylor Momsen and Lizzy Hale. Even if you don’t react to it since there is no actual video just the audio recording you will love it.

I was thinking after you reviewed Lzzy Hale a few times that Taylor Momsen should be next on the list! If you ever decide to do The Pretty Reckless again, I recommend "The Walls Are Closing In / Hangman". Super awesome section at the beginning with just piano and Taylor, as well as a cool bridge of all Latin lyrics. Showcases her voice really well and one of my faves from them. I'd also recommend "House On A Hill", which has a more acoustic feel to it and really places Taylor's voice in the forefront of the song.

I can never understand how everyone but me lumps TPR in with Halestorm and ITM... I truly hear no similarity. I can admit that Lzzy, solo, has a ton of talent and a powerful voice though TPR is more of a "original" hard rock sound (in most of their songs). Maybe it's a generational thing since I'm old as dirt and would compare TPR with Heart, Joan Jett, PJ Harvey and Lita Ford... maybe even Joplin.

This is pain and anger and sadness coming out. I love it. The release of all of the emotions that we struggle with. It's beautiful, angry, sad and pissed off all together. It expresses the emotions that we as people have a hard time dealing with. It's amazing, beautiful and heartbreaking and a struggle all at the same time. A song I can truly say is a great release.

I actually wonder if she would do a reaction to In This Moment since she's reacted to Lzzy and Taylor. The band has an awesome cover of We Will Rock You and it showcases each of their voices quite well. The band's lead singer, Maria Brink, also has some vocals and a beautiful range. I recommend Fighter, River of Fire, or Roots to start with but it's honestly all great.

Have been listening to Taylor for quite some time now, and they have evolved into something truely great. Her vocals, writing and emotion that she has put into her music just makes it all the better. Hope you have the chance to experience her energy in person. And hopefully see you going through her other works as well. 'Only You' comes to mind, 'Absolution', the really short 'Burn' and 'Blame Me', just a short list of the many songs you can feel her rawness come through.

There was a rumor, which I happened to believe, that this song was made for the last James Bond movie, which was #25. She shot that down with the story of it being based on personal events, but listen to the music, it's a loose variation of the James Bond theme song. My theory is that she's singing from Miss Moneypenny's perspective.
