Very true, I’m simple and love dragons. I thought the scorpion dragons from Thunder junction were super cool. You’ll run into dragonborn all the time playing dnd so it’s literally their thing

Dragons are fun - until you have to fight one - or several. Dunno if printing "dragon" on a card makes it more fun in itself or is a big selling point for the set.. But of course it does give such cards just a bit more synergy with some dragon themed decks so I guess players who have those might find the new cards with dragons just abit more appealing than if they were not dragons.. The same with goblins, merfolk, etc.. It's kind of matter of taste if you find the dragons "fun" or "boring".. I think the scorpion dragons are not really either but maybe bit silly.. But if you think they're "cool" - that's fine. The downside of dragons may be that they are not some other creature type - expect - apparently now they are.. Like Bonehoard Dracosaur being also a dinosaur. The new dragonhawk I think is quite comparable to that.. Maight not be quite as bomby in limited (depending of if power 4+ and or giving haste is prevalent in the set but it seems like they're not) but might have more potential for constructed (kinda want to mix them with OTJ cards like Cactusfolk Sureshot) -- seems good.

Isn't implied that the dragon is Kolaghan?

@@madscientist2621 I read in another comment that Kolaghan got compleated so I´m assuming she´s dead and this Dragon is one of her "offspring" so not sure about that

@@zeropoint2594 oh ok gotcha. I'm not up to date on all of the story. I didn't know Tarkir was invaded? There is a Tarkir set planned for 2025 correct?

@@madscientist2621 yes and it seems like Tarkir get´s very important because with Bloomburrow we enter the Dragonstorm Arc which will involve Bloomburrow, Duskmourne a death race set early in 2025 followed by a return to Tarkir it´s the second arc in a three year story arc called metronome (the first part where the omenpath arc following Kellan and his adventures) and it looks like Jace and Vraska plan to burn down the multiverse to build a new one (yay another apocalypse we didn´t had one in a long time right)

Stick the bird in a Klauth deck and then you can have a bunch of mana to spend, or let the mana float for the burn.

@@madscientist2621 Lol, yeah, that was my follow-up idea. They want a lot of the same cards, and Klauth gives mana to spend the cards you flip. Doesn't change Klauth's primary weakness of a potentially slow start, but definitely has a lot of synergy to add to the snowball effect.

@@jamiep8002 I agree. Klauth is definitely a battle cruiser that needs to warm up. I tun Sunbird's Invocation and Kodama of the East Tree to get even more value. I've had turns where I put 50 power on the board and the table just forfeited.

Yeah .. I wonder if cactusfolk sureshot + this would be good enough to be competitive in standard.

You can only play 1 land a turn, unless you have a card on the board otherwise letting you play more than 1, so not so much help on the land issue, and you’re exiling cards that still require you to pay casting costs, and if you don’t play them, they remain in exile. Real power is on the burn aspect, still not worth throwing into Ur Dragon - coming from a $7000 Ur Dragon deck player

I'm not so sure...unless I'm misunderstanding the rules, you would deal 4 damage pretty much no matter who your Commander was so long as they have 4 power and were present for the ETB or attack. 4 is the minimum you can do with both this card and Ojer out, and Ojer's ability will rarely trigger because the damage happens all at once, not as separate instances (it'd have to be corner case uses, where you attacked without Ojer and then cast him MP2. Apart from the exiled cards you get to play, it's kind of a nonbo, and even then Ojer doesn't play a ton of big creatures, meaning you're not likely to have a lot of exiled cards.

@grimbeefers have out one of the double damages, and the 4 from Ojer's ability becomes 8. Or pump Ojer and the 2 matches his power and then doubles

@@teenytinymaracas33 yeah in most cases it's game ending damage unless your playing against a very strong life gain deck or someone makes it so there life total can't change at instant speed

@@teenytinymaracas33 if you get your three thrones you would exile the rest of your library and at end step deal damage equal to twice the number of cards in your exile to each opponent.

@@teenytinymaracas33 90% of the time this will win you the game. Just like throne into terror/scourge will.

It is a separate trigger created at the end step, it doesn't care whether or not the source of the trigger is still present so yes, you would still get the damage even if the dragonhawk got blown up!

I'm pretty sure there is a few commanders in izzet and jeskai
