The Stupid Easy Songwriting Tip No One Ever Talks About

I'm gonna say it-writing in an 8-bar loop could be holding you back!
This stupid easy tip is going to force you to write better songs. This sounds SUPER gimmicky, but it's not. It's actually a pretty obvious and simple technique.
Somewhere along the line, music producers screwed this whole songwriting thing up. We got consumed with trying to create a whole song in an 8-bar loop.
I'm guilty of it too...so I'm pointing the finger at myself!
Sure it's possible to turn an 8-bar loop into a full song, but does that mean it's going to be a GOOD song?
Odds are, you're going to be missing some ESSENTIAL pieces that are needed in great songs and productions.
Artists like Skrillex, Fred Again, Rezz, John Summit, and many many more (across MANY genres) all do this same thing...
Let me explain! (enjoy the video)

hahahaha great timing!! but this is seriously the most gamechanging obvious tip. If you were to sit down with a guitar and start strumming/singing you'd automatically think of writing a full song with verse/chorus/prechorus/etc. But for some reason with production we love that 15 second 8bar loop 😅
@stefdazzle3075
@stefdazzle3075 Жыл бұрын
@@TheCosmicAcademy it is! Yeah, for sone reason we as producers tend to just make those loops. But even better, if you make 5 breaks and 5 drops, and you don't really all the idea's, try to combine some of those idea's. Maybe a certain drop or idea works better on a certain break! ;)

Great video! I write Future/Bass House style tracks, often a fusion. I also sometimes accidentally have this 2 song idea approach, however, what I then find tough, is getting them to transition from one to the other. So that would be an incredibly helpful video on its own. I try to use parts from each idea so they marry but its still not always easy
@TheCosmicAcademy
@TheCosmicAcademy Жыл бұрын
Thanks!! What you can try is once you have your two sections…try and put them on top of each other! They don’t have to work / fit perfectly but there should be continuity! You can also try having an element or two that appears in both sections/ideas! Thst becomes the bridge

@@TheCosmicAcademy I always start with chords and build the melody around those. I need to get into the emotional state I am feeling in that moment to know where to take the track. Alternatively, I ask myself, "how or what am I feeling right now", "where are we going to take this next emotional journey..." and then it's go time.
