...I use a Timberjack myself which is a cant hook with a leg. You can lift massive logs with it, and could roll them over the top onto the mill. They are used fro lifting logs for sawing as well to keep your chain out of the dirt. They are a 'must have ' tool for a lumberman.

@scottstewart3884
@scottstewart3884 4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking this.... Use the first few logs to build a frame of some sort so you can move the logs easier. BUT until then, if you have a convenient tree close on the backside of the mill, attach the come along to it, put the tow rope/cable over the mill, and pull the log onto the mill that way. (Or if no tree Make a post w/mill and dig hole for post ..) Keep up the good work though, No matter how you get it done, just do it as safe as you can!

@@trumpocalypsesurvival When we started our homestead we planned on getting a sawmill and milling all of our own lumber. It didn't work out that way but it's still a good ide for a lot of people -- especially if you can market the wood afterwards!
@trumpocalypsesurvival
@trumpocalypsesurvival 3 жыл бұрын
@@PlanetMojo it looks like so much fun. As you're making that Lumber though you should be building Work benches and saw horses so that you can make your life easier. You might want to consider getting a log Arch, probably a buck Arch because you can get all the accessories to hook into your trailer hitch and move logs easily. But that's a beautiful piece of machinery for what it does. I am so jealous. Feel trapped in my apartment building on the North Shore in Massachusetts I've been looking for land but it's too expensive in my entire region.
@PlanetMojo
@PlanetMojo 3 жыл бұрын
@@trumpocalypsesurvival I remember when we were looking for land. We were in Milwaukee at the time (like 15 years ago) and everything with in our drive to work range was already taken and very expensive -- so I learned to code so I could work on-line. We bought our land 230 miles away from where we started, and lived in a well equipped 10' x 12' two story barn-shaped shed while my son and I built our homestead. Where there's a will there's a way 😊
