Danielle should keep her certifications up to date in case she needs them in an emergency…like her first aide license and other things. Stuff like that will always come in handy, especially when you are waiting for the first responders and ambulance to arrive

Congratulations, Danielle! I know how hard of a decision that was to make! Your health and happiness needs to be put 1st always! If you're not happy or healthy you can't help yourself or anyone else! I'm not a nurse but have worked in hospitals, and in the medical field, it's not for the faint at heart! There's stress beyond measures! God Bless you and thank you for all you've done for those children and their families! Being a cancer patient who is in remission, I can not even begin to imagine how hard it is or how children can handle this horrible disease. I cry for them daily!

Jason, Stop interrupting Danielle! We like listening to her. If you WOULD listen more, YOU might hear what she is trying to say. She has talked or you have talked about the nursing job, she wants to talk about the SDR - she can jump back into nursing any moment. You don’t have that luxury. Becoming a RN - is a level of employment you can do at many areas. You’re more anxious than Danielle! Being an RN, gives you a lot of self confidence that few careers create. If Danielle feels she misses the money and security that $$ creates, she can jump right back in it. She is very lucky to have reached this level. Now, Jason, you: after another 5 years on You-Tube and run out of video material That will suck. Danielle has it all.

Danielle, From one healthcare professional to another. The greatest advice I can give you is keep up everything you can PALS, ACLS, NOWS, etc etc. Keep your license! You will thank me. The 2nd and most important thing is I have seen it in your eyes for some time now. Burnout sucks. I was a Paramedic for 28 years. Quit 3 times and on the last time I quit for good. The worst part is going to come, No one, not even Jason, will know what you go through mentally and physically. The outside shows, but on the inside, no one can see. Please consider going to see a therapist to help you through it. I am serious! Nothing affected me badly until I got time off. And sat and dwelled on my life and the things I saw, the faces that died in front of me, the people I was blessed to help. Everyone will say, oh, I don't need that. But those that do are happy they went and were able to vent to someone who listens and more importantly gives you ideas and ways to cope and deal with it.

Keep your license active, and enjoy stepping away. Nursing will always be there if you change your mind. I took a long break to raise kids and then went back 12 years later. Nursing is a very stressful job. If you can manage without it.... enjoy a less stressful life. (a retired RN) When I retired, I felt like I was on vacation for a long while, and I couldn't drive by the hospital without wondering what was going on there. I felt out of the loop. But I don't give it much thought anymore.

Jason can you not let Danielle speak? This was her news and I am sure she has had to make this decision for herself. She has one of the most difficult jobs there is. I just hope, Danielle, that this is your decision and that there was no outside opinions that were guiding you. I know that this post will probably be taken down because Jason can’t handle criticism. Yes, you are going to say oh, she just has a terrible life and needs to take it out on you. Yes, right now my life is pretty lousy. A year ago on October 6th my beloved husband of 46 years passed away. He was only 73. He was Agent Orange positive . He got this death sentence at the age of 19 while in Vietnam, he just didn’t know it. Because of this he had prostate cancer, Muscular Dystrophy, chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and had a quintuple bypass surgery a year before. We never got to have children and my only living brother is 300 miles away. I am not sorry to rant but this a sad time of the year for me. My birthday is tomorrow and my husband’s birthday is Christmas Eve. So if I get annoyed with you Jason it’s not without good reason. If you love Danielle then stop interrupting her. Tonight’s news was not about you. You always seem to make everything about you. She is your equal partner and you talk Too Much. Let her shine. She is a really sweet and quiet girl and keeps a lot to herself. She is not a child let her shine. Out.

@@jamesireland9188. I was just wondering if your wife is in a stressful nursing position. Because I'm sure she loves her job but a nurse in a doctor's office is different than a nurse in emergency or ICU unit and especially in pediatric nursing in a hospital can be brutal and it takes its toll on you. Taking care of babies year after year where some don't make it can be heartbreaking.

@@marywilson1442 yeah she was on cardiac unit for 4 years now she is in emergency room in busy Boston hospital. Some just can't handle the stress of it my wife said when covid first it I mean the first wave was the worst for her. And I'm not saying she doesn't get stressed she during first wave they were doing post mortem care dozen if not more every couple of days. She was working doubles constantly she would come home go right into basement and put her scrubs in washer and then come up and deal with two little boys. I would never say because of someone's position it's not stressful like you are everyone handles it differently. All I was saying is my wife loves her job but comment section always takes it the wrong way.

I am a respiratory therapist and I was in a children’s hospital working in the PICU and NICU. I just recently quit after some health issues and going to 3 different doctors they all told me I should quit my job. I didn’t even talk about my job other than saying where I work/what I do. I didn’t even realize the amount of stress because I became so used to it. Not to mention the nightshift has so many health complications with it as well. I first cut my hours, and although it helped it almost made the anxiety of going back to work worse because I had some more time to think. Nobody can really understand it until they experience it, healthcare is such a soul draining, exhausting field. Keep your credentials and you can always go back if you need to, otherwise enjoy life away from all the stress and sadness. 💗

She then went into medical coding . After a few short classes because of her nursing credits. That she carried over into that field. This helped her make quick work in getting certified .She now makes better money and works from home. She Loves the freedom it gives her. But also it's not as stressful as nursing .Might be something to look into. God bless take care.

I know where Danielle is coming from. I had to quit firefighting after 7 years. I was fine (ok) with fighting fires, but the freeway accidents were brutal on me. I was fine when I was out there but when I got home, I would cry like a baby. I wish Danielle the best and I know she will start to relax; it will take a little time by it does come. Congratulations on a new adventure. Enjoy every day that you are given together. A great big hug to you. Have fun and be good. ☺

Congratulations Danielle, You need time to relax and work off your stress and you did the right thing and you will see how it all plays out. Trust and Obey. Be a rancher full time may not be what you want either so you will soon find out.

Wow! Danielle, you gotta do what is best for you. I worked 25 years at our local hospital. I wasn't a nurse, I was a housekeeper and an English-Spanish interpreter. The long hours I had to pull were horrible on me. We, in housekeeping had to work a lot of overtime and then the added hours as an interpreter, all of that started affecting my health. Even my type of work was very hard and stressful. The last five years were the worst when it came to stress. My doctor told me that for my own good and for my health, I had to quit working. Then I had to deal with my management team creating a hostile work environment. At 25 years of being there, I had the most seniority in my department. So I gave my notice to retire and six weeks afterwards, they gave me a retirement party. I went to it and I never looked back. Best decision i ever made. Don't miss it at all. Good luck on your future together.

The great thing about being a nurse is that she can go back at any time. Agency work, etc!!!! My wife is a nurse. Just keep your license.

I worked as an icu nurse for 25 years+. Hardest job but most rewarding. Now retired/disabled. Just be sure to keep up your CEUs/ license so that you can get another job if ever needed. The emotional toll is hard, that was something my husband could never understand.

My son is an Emergency room nurse.. He served in the Navy/Marines as a corpsman .. Did two tours in Afghanistan.. First tour was in a trauma unit in khandahar.. second tour was as the Doc for a marine sniper unit… When he got out of the service he worked in a hospital and went to college to become a nurse while starting a family… He’s worked in a few hospitals in emergency rooms and is now working in a VA hospital … It’s a rough job and takes a toll.. he’ll be able to retire much sooner now that he’s in the VA hospital… Congratulations on making a choice that works for you.. Health care jobs can suck the life out of you.. doesn’t matter how caring you are or how much you want to help people, it takes its toll on you.. God bless and follow your heart…❤
