This one is a whirlwind from the start. I get on a flight from our new home of Portugal back to the UK, firstly stopping in London for the Action Medical charity event called the Champions of CycleSport. action.org.uk
Incredible evening and they managed to raise £250,000. All in aid of little children with rare and incurable diseases.
I set about swapping out my destroyed trek emonda, which unfortunately was involved in an accident and is beyond repair with a snapped carbon frame. Which obviously means... IT'S NEW BIKE DAY!!!

The Emonda is marketed towards being more a climbing by but far from it… it only take one look at the aerodynamic profiles of the frame to realise it’s an all round weapon… one of the main reasons I love it so much is that it can do it all! Simple! 😁👍

Excuse my ignorance but is that a SL or SLR? im guessing the latter, lovely bike either way. Im 5ft7 and currently ride an old 54 Cannondale synapse, been looking at Emondas and thinking 52 might be my size, as they say you can make a amall bike bigger but not the other way round.

So obviously, Thomas, you are a fast cyclist. I don't quite know enough about bike geometry but I guess I attribute fast race guys to have a super aggressive top tube etc. This trek looks quite relaxed. Did you pick it for overall comfort rather than speed? Less back flexion in this position? Good to see you rolling again 🚲

Quite the opposite… my bike is set up in a very aggressive position, not really for comfort at all. The top tube could be any angle in theory it’s more about where your body is in relation to the contact points that changes a bikes geometry and feel. The frame is that angle because it is such a small size, so it has a low stand over height. Something I need as I have short legs… but this is also paired with a very short stack and a -21° x 110mm stem and 380mm bars, which gives it the aggressive “race” position. 😁👍
