MY FIRST TIME CYCLING OFF-ROAD!

Something very different for this episode… I spontaneously decide to enter the UK’s biggest off-road event, on my road bike. This is my first time ever attempting any proper off-road and not only that… I get involved with the very popular and unique event Battle on the Beach.
What an incredible event it was… definitely picked a good one to give myself the taste of the gravel life. I had soooo much fun.
This episode follows us over the whole weekend down in South Wales, the event itself takes place at Pembrey Country Park. I meet up meet up with some friends and on the first day we decide to do a bit of a course recce for the race the following day. We also check out some of those great local welsh roads.
Then it’s race day… I was pretty nervous about this, but I got stuck in and did well considering not having any of the correct off-road equipment.
I thoroughly enjoyed this event and I’d definitely recommend it… I certainly will be coming back next year. Probably the most fun I’ve have on the bike in a while.

Maaaaan I’m in love with this channel ha, only just got on a bike few rides in and love it. Finding time with the kids is hard but this in the eves keeps the buzz there, when I’m fit I wanna tag along on a ride

When I saw Lawrence's video earlier in the week I was looking forward to enjoying this one with my Sunday breakfast (a bit of a ritual now). We have 1 or 2 rounds of the welsh Cyclocross League take place at Pembrey, you should get that new bike & come back later in the year for those! Also, next year at Battle On The Beach, do the time trial in the dark the night before, it's so much fun 👌

Top vid as ever ! I’ve been road biker for years but “ accidentally “ bought a specialized diverge just before Xmas . Anytime bloody love it . Good to mix it up and have a laugh. There one called glourios gravel down your way . I’ve done 2 of there events this year up here in Peak District. They put on a good day.

So the right tool for the job would have been an mtb pedal and shoe combo… because of the different design they are less likely to get clogged up with mud!

murdering the road bike on that terrain :D Might be worth considering getting a gravel bike. To put it to perspective, you CAN have only one pair of shoes but it wont last nearly as long as if you had one each for running, for working and for anything else :D

Have a butchers at Glorious Gravel, they do a lot of mixed surface sportive's, good fun and well run. Suffolk X is sandy too
