Good story. Can relate to this as I've dealt with something similar in business. It hurts now but the lessons learned definitely have helped moving forward.

Unclear what happened but I sense you are being to hard on yourself and others. Lower your expectations of self and others. Whatever happened you gained valuable experience from doing something. Most do nothing and brag about their accomplishments. I hear gifted kids and see red flags all over. I was one once. Thank goodness that narcissism on behalf of others is finally over.
