Gogo was a legend. She lived every moment, fought for her family and kept them safe. She's loving and caring. Through Trevor we got to know her and I feel grateful to have known her. Rest in Peace Gogo.

Trying to understand how you can absolutely adore someone you never met, and sincerely mourn her loss. I can only imagine what she's experienced in Apartheid South Africa, which didn't end that long ago. Yet, the embodiment of grace, gratitude, and faithfulness. What a treasure. When an elder dies, a library burns to the ground. We need to hang on to the wisdom and humility of our elders, in a world that is too fast and too cold. Listening to older people tell their stories about life. You learn from the past.

While this is a nice idea that does apply to the beautiful example of Trevor's Grandmother, there are narrow minded people in every generation, and age doesn't change that. I asked my grandmother what she experienced and remembered about the Civil Rights movement and her response was basically, "There wasn't any racism where we lived!" Before going off on a tangent about "reverse racism" and how people just need to work harder 🤦♀️

I was raised by my grandma. I went to abroad spent 2 years in the United States, always talking to her, I make sure I will send her money every month. December 2019, I told her that I'm coming home to see her because I really miss her, I spoke to her the day I flew from Dulles airport to Accra, I spoke to her in the morning, she passed away the night I was on my way to Ghana, she didn't see me coming back home and that always break my heart.

You heard her clearly say that she wouldn't even want to go visit him in that mansion you are talking about. I can see they loved each other and I am sure he never let her go hungry. Noah lost his gran and we lost a great historian. Listening to her again, tell her account of the years of Apartheid, you can not get in a history book. These stories, the feeling of that time, can only be told by first hand stories told by those that were there. Blessings to her for sharing, for helping raise Noah to the man he is today. We have all been blessed by her presence, Thank You Gogo.

We just got a small snippet from her. What her eyes had seen was something I'm sure. This is why we must cherish our elders and learn from them

My grandmother was possibly one of the funniest people I ever knew. We lost her about ten years ago, and I miss her every day. A Toast to all the grandmas out there and to the memory of those that have passed on.

My grandmother just passed 107 years old, she was my lighthouse of morality. A Quaker and a teacher... Trevor's gogo would have loved her, they would have loved each other, similar personalities. I feel like a flash back.

The love and admiration you have for her is clearly evident and brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. Bittersweet. What words do you tell someone who lost the most important person in their lives and family, the matriarch, your grandmother who loves you unconditionally. There are no words to express it, really. Thank you Trevor for sharing her with us. Such a powerful, wonderful person. She will always be with you. You carry her in your heart. I pray God's peace and comfort for you and your family.

Oh my heart! Gogo seems like she was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She reminds me of my grandmothers in some ways. My Ukrainian grandmother was sharp as a tack too until she passed and she tolerated nobody's nonsense - especially mine. My Korean grandmother endured so much living under Japanese colonial rule and then in post-war South Korea, but she has always maintained a quiet strength and dignity in everything she does. Our grandmothers are a wealth of wisdom, grace, and strength. We must cherish and learn from them for as long as we have them.

It took me a while before I could view this video. Trevor, the first time you interview your beautiful and wise gogo, I felt in love. I instantly adopted her as my gogo. Her loving memories will always be a part of my life. Although, gogo’s spirit has left her body the memories you share of her will always be a part of my journey and I will cherish those memories. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful and wise gogo with us! She had a heart of gold!
