Had heard of the La Brea Tar Pits, and always wanted to go see them, but never had time in LA!! I';m grateful for your showing us this Wonder Of The World. Over the centuries I'd bed many many critters ambled into the tar, and couldn't get out!!! The more they struggled, the deeper they sunk!!

Enjoyed the La Brea Tar pits tour. I remember going on tour with our elementary school when they would take us on field trips. I guess our school got special permission to do that. This was in 1962 or 1963. Anyway, it was nice touring it again after so many years for me personally. We appreciate all your efforts and hard work that you do putting all this information together. ❤️🙏🏻
@UlyssesM4 ай бұрын
How difficult was it then? Was the tar thicker and higher?
@esthergarcia13734 ай бұрын
@@UlyssesM Don’t know if the tar was thicker or higher but I do remember walking into one of the older apartment buildings near the tar pits to visit a friend who lived there and tar was found oozing out of a tar paved street in front of the building in the 1980’s which I found odd. Then a series called “La Brea”. comes out on TV during the COVID pandemic..very strange things are still happening under our feet! 🧐😁

Went to the LeBrea tar pits in the early '90's. It was the last day of our Hollywood vacation. Upon returning home I lost my purse with the camera in It. It had, you guessed it, my undeveloped roll of film of the tar pits. I did manage to keep a couple of post cards. Loved seeing your vlog. It was almost just like being there. Thanks.

Nice coverage of today's La Brea tar pits. I grew up near there, and remember my mom taking me to see the then open ponds of goo, one of which had a scary statue of a saber-tooth cat coming up out of it. The arboretum and museum are gorgeous...am so glad the powers that be didn't make a tarpit Disneyland out of this grand leftover of our bygone geologic past. Thanks for your good work, dear Woo.

To just think about Ice Age animals walking around the blvd. where cars and people travel now.... AMAZING ! Wish I could travel back in time just to see it all in action. Knowing then what I know now though, I would try and keep the animals from what they all thought was a river or pond to take a drink of water... I would shoo them away so they did not get stuck in the tar ! Thank You Adam for this vido blog ! Really a cool treat.

My dad used to live near there before the pools were all blocked off and he would get tar all over his feet from poping the bubbles that were on wilshire blvd when it was a 2 lane dirt highway before they invented asphalt. he told me the pools were a lot bigger but they filled in alot so it wasnt so unsafe. I can't believe how big the sloths were compared to todays sloth. I think its the elephant that never shrunk. the horse got bigger from only 1' high. Mind Blowing ... ty that was a trip down memory lane.

I visited here back in April of 2012! I went for spring break my freshman year with my family, and when we were walking around on the inside part, we saw Jack Black there with his family! I even stood at the tar pump station when he was there with one of his kids helping them work the pump. It was pretty cool. And when we were walking outside there was a brand new very small pit opening up thru the grass that they had sectioned off and had a security guard by because there were kids running around outside so they didn't want any accidents happening. It's just an amazing place to visit. And the fact that the pits have been active since prehistoric mammals were walking around the area and the pits are still active to this day is amazing and mind-blowing. (*Edit: my keyboard changed sectioned to secondary so I changed it back)
