Great video, Adam! If you're still in town, you should cruise up to "Pioneer Park" off of West Washington above Old Town. It was once a cemetery, and after the last grave reached 100 years old, the city turned it into a park, basically just moving most of the gravestones to the back of the park. The parking lot has rectangular depressions from the caskets that have collapsed. Pretty wild. I was an SDPD officer for 30 years, and Old Town was in my division. We responded to numerous motion alarms at the Whaley House. LOL! As I was typing this, I looked up at my TV, and you were right there in Pioneer Park! Anyway, welcome to San Diego! Cheers!

With so many guests crowded, for the Whaley House tours, I doubt if there is any room for any ghosts to fit in.

In 1995, I took a self a guided tour of the Whaley House. I seemed to be the only guest at the time. There was a creepy vibe, but I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing,Adam. I think the actual tour was better.

@freakshowfilmfestival3591
@freakshowfilmfestival3591 Жыл бұрын
@@jasonwickens0813 We went during the day. The problem with try to ghost hunt there is it's on a main road, so cars are constantly driving by. Also across the street is like a restaurant/bar, so it's pretty packed. When we went it was during the day, so there were no curtains up, so if a car would drive by sunlight would reflect off the car and through the windows. 🤷 So, the other thing was, there is like a basic tour (which was like $10-$12 something like back in 2009) and then there was an expensive late night ghost tour. So when we were there they had plexiglass in the doors of the upstairs rooms. Now if you saw the Ghost Hunters episode, the plexiglass was gone, they do that for the super expensive ghost tour. Well, the problem with the plexiglass was, it's dark in there so if you go to take a picture with your flash, you aren't getting anything. I personally didn't see or feel anything, but it's like a happening place down there, so it's real touristy and busy, so how are you supposed to hear disembodied voices with all the crowd noise? How are you supposed to catch what you think are spirits if it's light reflection? It really is a good tour of a really neat historical house. But as for haunted, results may very. Lol if you go, hopefully you have a great experience. (FYI- that backyard is a little off feeling, I walked on the side of the house where those trees are by myself (because there was a picture in the house someone took a picture outside looking in of some "ghostly apperation" in the kitchen and I wanted to see if I could get the same results) and that backyard feels a bit weird. 🤷)

Thank you for sharing this captivating tour of old San Diego. I thoroughly enjoyed the guides and the well-preserved buildings, including the Whaley House. After watching your video, I started to consider whether my friend and I might have encountered the ghost of Mrs. Whaley during our self-guided tour. Nearly 19 years ago, she'd moved from MD to San Diego and was excited to show me and my (now former) Partner around her new hometown; with Old Town being her favorite. In the quiet central hall, with no other visitors present, we were discussing our deep empathy for the people who lived there and their tragic history. It was then that I noticed a woman standing with her back turned to us, dressed in full Victorian mourning attire and a black veil draped over her head. She was silently gazing out of the window at the end of the hall, dabbing her right eye with a handkerchief. She never turned towards us or acknowledged our presence, which we figured was just part of the role she played there as staff. She was quite convincing, but seemed totally real and quite alive to us. My friend whispered to me in astonishment, questioning whether we had seen her earlier. Although we hadn't noticed her before, we assumed she must have been momentarily out of sight. We believed she was there to answer questions and safeguard the historical artifacts on display, as she appeared incredibly real. Despite not feeling fear, as we had experienced the energy of spirits in old places before, we stopped talking and observed her for a moment. Looking back, we mostly felt a profound sense of sadness and empathy towards her, though at the time, we assumed she was a reenactor or staff member in costume. I have never shared this story or thought much about it in the past 19 years, but after watching your video, I wonder whether that woman was a living person or a ghost. Regardless, it felt as though she appreciated our respectful energy and our honoring of their memories. Thank you for sharing this video; I thoroughly enjoyed it. 😊

Thanks for this vid! Brings back some memories of my trip to San Diego from eons ago. I was standing outside the Whaley House way before all of that touristy stuff was developed around it. (I really can't believe how much the area looks different now.) The museum was closed for the day so I just walked around the front porch area. Tried to peek through the window (closest to the front door), but it was mostly covered by the curtains. As I walked back towards the front steps, I paused because I thought I heard something coming from the house. So, I ended up going slowly towards the front door, because I couldn't believe I was hearing what sounded like faint piano notes wafting through the air. Then, the feeling of the creeps came onto me so I backed away and went down the stairs. I knew there was some kind of piano inside the house, but wasn't sure where it was located exactly.

The ghost stories have changed over the years. I did a video presentation for junior high back in the early 80's. Was told by the curator of that time that Yankee Jim was hung on the tree, and he was so tall that he ended up suffocating rather than having his neck broken. During my tour I have seen door knobs on the back staircase rattle. Only problem was there were no knobs on the outside of the door, and at that time that was an emergency exit. You used to start the tour through the front door. There is no doubt that the house is haunted. But as I was watching this some of the older stories appear to be omitted. Great reliving some memories. Thank you for this.

Omg. I was looking forward to your vlog. Does not disappoint!! I LOVE Old Town. Raised in San Diego and still here. I've been going to the Whaley House since WAY before it looked like this. Old Town looked so original. Everything was free, too. Once on a tour I noticed the blocks on the floor of the kids room. I commented how they were strewn about like someone had been playing. I walked downstairs to get a companion. Going back to the room-the blocks we're now stacked to say A GHOST. I'm told I am mistaken or that it was a docent. 🤔 Thank you for all of the things you are showing! I can't wait to see what else you find!! Oh, at my wedding on the Presidio 40 years ago, my husband's grandmother and great grandmother were standing at the brick wall, looking over San Diego. How it had changed in all of the years. My husband's family has been here since who knows when. Early 1900's or late 1800's.

Used to go here all the time as a kid. Vivid memories of the Whaley house and the last memory I have of my great grandpa is making candles in that store. I even remember a story about how the ghost child would pull on the curtains in one of the rooms, we walked away from the tour to take a look and I swear the curtains were stretched all the way out as if they were being pulled. No strings visible, no fan present. I was a kid so who knows, but I never forgot that.
