I had to put down my Jack Russell a few days ago. She was only 10. She lived through pancreatitis when she was 2, she lost an eye (glaucoma) when she was 9, and she ended up with chronic kidney disease and failure at the end. You would have never known by playing with her. Through all of Bella's ailments, she was a ball of energy and full of spunk until the end. Jack Russell's are awesome dogs. I've had two so far, plan on getting another Jack again one day. This puppy in the video looks a lot like my Bella. ❤ RIP Bella 🐶🐾

I have a 9 week old staffy boy who I've been training consistently. He can do sit on command, sit to be greeted by strangers or neighbours, down, sit and stay, recall, fetch and bring back. Hes really doing well really proud to see he behaves just like holly! 🙂

I have a 13 week old and watching this I see her doing some of the bad stuff mine does which is the constant play biting and biting the clothes. To me those are the biggest ad habits to tackle early on. Your hands will take a real beating until it subsides. Attention span at that age is short but it’s so crucial to start training right away otherwise they’ll own you and be very insubordinate.

This is about the best basic training video I've found. I'm getting a JR pup in 3 weeks as I lost my 14 year old Jack Russell Toto in August but it's been so long since he was a pup that I'm here to brush up my puppy skills and would surely appreciate some more tips and things. Losing my Jack Russell was just so heartbreaking and I kinda feel guilty for Toto who's buried outside but a jack Russell terrier is essential for my well-being in my life so appreciate your video. I’ve had two JRTs. They were absolutely the easiest to train and learned commands like SIT STAY in just minutes. On the other hand, chewing..everything..was an issue with our first. In speaking with a trainer, we were reminded of their pack mentality and were advised to get another one. Yes, we bought her her own dog..problem solved. One thing to note, since they are sight dogs and will chase anything, the command of LEAVE IT must be learned early on. They are so focused on the chase they will not recognize a car is coming. However, these little darlings make awesome agility dogs, and loved every minute!

For those with new JRT pups, i strongly suggest to do training before you give them food!! Have the food bowl in your hand and feed them pieces of kibble instead of treats! You can, of course, do more training outside of mealtimes but it helps establish that you provide the food, that you are in control, and can definitely help lessen food aggression for most dogs! Me and my JRT pup train at least a little before she gets her meal and she does well!! Manners training is a must with these guys!! We're currently trying to train her to sit at the door and wait until we say okay before going in or out! The out is a little difficult, especially when you know they need to go potty but when she needs to play, i make sure to make her mind her manners. These guys are incredibly smart and mine has picked up on tricks fully after a day or two!! She still needs to be persuaded by treats buut thats another story. They can also be stubborn if not everyone in the house is consistent. You remember the manners thing? If she barges inside, my parents will just let her and just sigh and shake their heads. It makes getting her to sit harder but c'est la vie
