Dan and Keith were must see TV. People worked their schedules around and switched from shows they were watching to catch Dan and Keith from the beginning. People subscribed to basic cable just for them. The show Sportsnight was based on Dan and Keith's brillance, which was evident to people outside the sports arena.

Dan and Keith had something, a rapport, a meeting of two minds that mesh, with humor that bounces off from one to the other, that has not been replicated. SportsCenter with Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick was the GOAT of ALL SPORTS SHOWS that came before or after it. I love Dan and the Danettes. The BEST sports show today followed by The Rich Eisen show. But DADADA...DADADA...with Keith and Dan was the BEST SPORTS SHOW EVER.

Dan for us 22 and younger who live in the State of Connecticut, Friday night was magical, as we’ve heard the stories and have seen the clips but never saw the actual thing. The reality of Friday night was that it was awesome for me to witness the magic that was once the best sports television ever. It’s the best SportsCenter broadcast -- albeit that SVP is awesome on a nightly basis -- since Stuart Scott died.

@Sam Forbes Amen. Patrick does the same thing when he has Adam Sandler on his show. Talking about the fun THEY HAD making a crappy movie. Inform and entertain, don't do a career self-fulfillment segment where you drool over the "glory years" when you "revolutionized" sports. Dude, you read highlights.

I respect Dan Patrick, he's the best at what he does. But this stuff...this self-reverential, egomaniacal focus on the years at ESPN, it's tiresome. I don't care. And here's a newsflash Dan P --- few people care about the feelings of the people at ESPN and the inner workings of a sports network. It was a highlight show, groundbreaking yes, but that's all it was: a highlight show. These folks in the media, you really live in a bubble where you think what you do and how you do it is so important. It's not. Just give us the content. Do great interviews. Provide informative analysis. That's what you do best. I do not care about you getting behind the SportsCenter desk and the story of how it impacted everyone. It's self-aggrandizing and embarrassing.
