As a diehard Celtic fan, I never rooted for Kareem or the Lakers or Bucks. I find him MUCH more interesting and have great admiration for Kareem as a person. Articulate, intelligence is off the charts, stood tall(pardon the pun) for his beliefs. MUCH respect. And he had the most unstoppable shot EVER!!!

Through the many years that I have followed the life and career of Mr KAJ, I have learned a lot. The best thing I learned was something I learned recently. Kareem has a great smile.

There are only a handful of players in the GOAT conversation and Kareem is one of them. He was so great and dominant in his prime and did so many things at a high level on the court including possessing the most unstoppable shot the NBA has ever seen. On top of that he's a class act and is a man of integrity, what more can you say?

Kareem' is THE MAN! In addition to being one of the best basketball players, he was also trained by the very very awesome Bruce Lee. He was so lucky to have trained with Bruce. Kareem is a true role model.

There was nothing wrong with the way Kareem handled the media. More athletes should be that way. It served him well. And it was very admirable.

If you want to start a franchise. how can you not draft Kareem. He gave you 20 years and played at a high level in his late 30s.

Mr. Jabbar is DEFINITELY underrated. Kareem's scoring is known, but folks forget his passing abilities. Kareem has more assists than the great Michael Jordan. Arvydas Sabonis is considered the greatest passer, yet Kareem has higher averages in assists than Sabonis' career in both the NBA and FIBA. The sky hook was lethal, but Kareem could do it all. Greatest HS, College, and Pro career. Greatness and longevity. Sadly, he didn't have the greatest relationship with the media during his career. I can't fault him for that due to the civil rights movement. Magic never won without Kareem. Big O never won without Kareem. It took years until the Big O Oscar Robertson finally won. Kareem won early and late in his entire career. In Kareem's 2nd year, he won it all for the Bucks. And at the age of 37 years old, Kareem won the Finals MVP. AT 37, Kobe was limping and out of the league where as Kareem won the Finals MVP. Sadly, folk remember Kareem in his 40s, but Kareem in his 20s was deadly.

Dan Patrick is the real deal. First-class professionalism and credibility in sports media. Listening to this conversation with the great, brilliant Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a joy.

What a great job by Dan Patrick with this interview. It could have gone on another half hour and I would have loved it. He made Kareem feel comfortable and his knowlege of the game generated great questions. I'd start any franchise with Kareem.

Had the honor to watch him play as Lew Alcindor at UCLA in my youth. Enjoyed every game at Pauly Pallivion in the 60's! To this day he's number one in my book.

That was great. I saw him at Brown Port shopping center when I was a kid and he had just joined the Bucks. I’ve always admired him as a human being and a man as well as an athlete. If I could meet one basketball player I know who I would want it to be. We’d probably talk about jazz.

I have only been to one NBA game in my life, but it was a doozy, Lakers versus hawks in the late 80s. At halftime when the players were loosening up I snuck down by the floor and got within about 50 feet of Kareem while he was doing stretches. It was so awesome just to be that close. It still gives me chills to think about

In the 1980's Mr. Abdul-Jabbar was a guest on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. He was asked who was the greatest athlete had ever seen. His response was very surprising, even to himself, because it was someone not in his sport. His answer: Roberto Clemente, right fielder extraordinaire of the Pittsburgh Pirates. As I recall his response, he noted Clemente's grace chasing a fly ball.

One of the best interviews I ever saw. Kareem is keenly articulate, transparent and humble yet stands up for his rights and defends his point of view. His insight is uncanny, he confidently explains the loneliness of Coach Wooden's loss of his wife....with certainty. He has the psychological power of Dostoyevsky and no doubt would KNOW what I mean and agree with me...or give me a tremendous different point of view....the guy is intellectual...who woulda thunked it???? My hero. God bless this gently wonderful man. And kudos to Dan for making me feel i was sitting right there.

Kareem is a class act and was a fantastic athlete and basketball player. I saw him go up against Bill Walton in 1977 in Portland when the Lakers had the best record in the league. I was watching, and I didn’t realize it at the time, two of the greatest centers ever to play the game go head on in their prime. It was fantastic and the blazers winning the title, I will never forget!

I grew up in So Cal in the late 50s, 60s and the 70s. Great time for following the teams of both the college and pros. USC had 10 natl championships in baseball from '58 to '78. Football champs in '62, '67, '72, '74 and '78. Dodgers in the World Series in '59 (W), '63(W), '65 (W), '66(L), '74(L), '77(L) '78(L)damn Yankees and '81 (W) YEAH. Lakers in the NBA Finals seven times and lost them all, damn Celtics. Finally won in '72. Rams were so-so until late '60s and late '70s They held their summer practices at my high school during the '60s. Finally the Bruins. UCLA won 10 Natl Championships from '63 to '75. Kareem and I are the same age and I was lucky enough to see him play twice his freshman season. First was when I had a college wrestling meet held at UCLA , between prelims and the finals the BruBabes played. What the freshman team was called. Then later at Fullerton Jr College they played against Walt Simon, a local phenom whos son Miles played for Arizonas Natl Champ. Yes Lew Alcindor became a very great player.

Kareem had a home in Hawaii where he stayed during the off season during the 70's. He lived about a mile from our house. I used to see him at Sandy Beach bodysurfing. I think he liked Hawaii because people didn't bother him. Everybody knew who he was, but respected his privacy enough to leave him alone. I later met James Lofton in our high school weight room working out and he told me he bought the Kareem's house.

I remember thinking when I was younger and seeing Kareem on the floor that this is the pinnacle of basketball. If you see Kareem it doesn't get any better than that.
