it's great to see someone who scuplts these film characters, as well as collects them. I always think afterrall if these characters are not available to buy anymore, or are too expensive why not be a bit arrogant & naive & make your own. Be it plaster, clay fibre glass vinegar & brown paper whatever. all it takes is enthusiasm & determination

Thanks, yeah I find them very inspirational when working on my own pieces.

Your work is amazing but i dont think you get enough credit for how good you actually make these videos, they are very in depth and high quality

Thanks for saying so. I enjoy making videos too, so I treat each one like a mini project too.

Great job. Alien Resurrection is highly under appreciated. It seems the audience could not handle any variation from the expected formula no matter how brilliant that might be.

These are beautifully done. All you need is a 1/6 Ridley with his hands inside with a pair of rubber gloves on haha. Love the size of these, I have quite a few of the hot toys closed ones and one open one but yours blows them out of the water.
@thedarkpower4 жыл бұрын
Haha, cheers dude, I've not seen the hot toys ones actually.

@@thedarkpower They're about the size of the plastic egg you started with. They are called snapkits and the egg comes in two halves with a colonial marine in each. Kind of evil kinder eggs:)

Love the Hellraiser pieces. Any plans to make a puzzle box. I didn’t see one. You can buy them but plans are out there and maybe another project to accompany the figures.

Cheers dude, hope you're well. Yeah latext is great for this kind of thing. I've been meaning to mould the skull I did a while back. I reckon it'd look great with latex all over it.

@@thedarkpower I'm good, even tho i have some health issues at this moment but overall im good :). I started experimenting with digital sculpting via blender and i'm slowly getting into it! I did take a little break from traditional sculpting and social media so I can concentrate on digital work for some time now...but from time to time I do switch to traditional sculpting because nothing can beat that :'D. I do remember the skull that you made, it came up looking outstanding! Especially with the orange peal effect, very cool! And yes I agree, with latex on the skull will looks fanscinating! I can not wait to see it happen! How are you anyway?

That was a really good point you made about the use of red to signify organics. Never gonna see the predator in the same way! Should have a green mouth 😆

Which DWR silicone are you using? I am going to order some to try but they have an RTV and an easy mould. Both are run cure but wasn’t sure what the difference is other than the ratios.
@thedarkpower4 жыл бұрын
Hey Christopher, hope you're well. I've been using the general purpose moulding rubber. The cured rubber has not got a particularly long life span, so perhaps not the highest quality, but the price point makes it perfect for single or low use moulds. www.dwrplastics.com/general-purpose-moulding-rubber.html
@themaninthesuitcase4 жыл бұрын
The Dark Power yes for the price it seems like a good option to just have around. Then I can get the more spendy stuff if the use justifies it.
@maximilians9174 жыл бұрын
Great video are you using clear latex ? Because the normal would dry yellow right so it would cover the paint job
@thedarkpower4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. No I think this is normal latex, so it is a little yellow - there's gaps in it so it doesn't cover too much and the colour kind of adds to the effect ;)
@maximilians9174 жыл бұрын

Awesome work!!! I'll have to try the latex idea. Do you seal it after or use anything to fix it in place?
@thedarkpower3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No it sticks, but it will degrade over time so you'll need to refresh it occasionally. You can peel it off easily though.
@Secret_Geek3 жыл бұрын
@@thedarkpower Awesome! Thanks Mate 👍🏻 What about a coat of Satin or gloss varnish over it. Will it still degrade?
@thedarkpower3 жыл бұрын
@@Secret_Geek That might work to be honest, I've not tried it though. I'd recommend testing it on something first ;)

do you like the Akien complete with agg kit from,,,ALIENS I think, made by ...HALCYON? its a great pose and I wish I'd bought it at the time. BUT what I did buy in 1979/80 was the 19" kenna Alien with retracting tongue, & even though there have been many versions of this character (more than 40 inc statues toys & kits)this to me is one of the best, im using it as referance to make a full scale bust 3ft long of this landmark character
