Amazing vocal range of the lowest lows to the highest highs without breaking a sweat. I don't know what his octave range was but suspect if was off the charts and rarely matched by any other singers. You're absolutely right though that without him there are no Delfonics plain and simple. A great loss.

@riorich
@riorich 5 ай бұрын
I hope you mean on the record, that's not Earl Young on the drums in this video. Plus, Earl always played, his snare drum, with the drum stick reversed, so the big part hit the snare not the tip. The original recording was one of the rare ones with the full orchestra recorded together in Sigma (North), and the studio was small, so they had to turn the strings down, which was rare in a Thom Bell arrangement because it was leaking into the drum mikes. None of the original instrument players you see on here played on the original song. Wilbert Hart is missing here, was one of the original Delfonics. During the recordings Tommy Bell and Phil Hurtt sang in the background voices. You can hear his voice, if you know it. Maybe Bunny Sigler too. Earl I heard broke a lot of drum heads with that backward stick and ticked Joe Tarsia the engineer off.
