People were not as aware about mental health as we are today. It's unfortunate. He needed therapy. There was so much suffering in his life. He needed to be surrounded by people who could genuinely love him too. People have surgeries all the time these days and it's crazy all the hate he got for it. Sad.

He did get therapy. He was forced to take therapy in 93 when he was in rehab for addiction. Supposedly he came to realize many of his problems were of his own making. Then when he left rehab, he went back to his usual mindset and it hurt him in the end. I do believe his family cared about him. They absolutely used him. But I believe they loved him and cared very much. The problem was that you couldn't force him to stay anywhere or do anything he didn't want to do. He had stupid money and the ability to ice out anyone (even family) who told him things he didn't want to hear. It's sad

I wished his father & OTHERS had taken a self-enrichment course in Black History & Pride, so he wouldn’t have placed his denigrating ignorance upon his children about their looks. There wasn’t one dam thing wrong about his children’s looks. They were beautiful as they were. @adriantrusca1245 he was too. I'm saying that he was at his very best looks-wise in the time period above. The lightening of his skin pigment (due to Vitiligo and later skin lightening methods to even out the look), and some excessive nasel reconstruction really altered his appearance. I think people add on a lot of BS onto what they think Michael changed, Michael also had lupus , so his health had to be managed. When you look at the entire scope of his life and all the abuse and trauma he endured, the changes in his appearance really make sense. Vitiligo must have been traumatic due to his insecurities with his appearance, but also imagine the impact it must have had on his own identity as a black man. And accepting that he would inevitably look less black. Now add losing his hair in the Pepsi accident and not only having to cope with the pain from the burns, but also having to accept that his hair would never grow back. If you really think about it, he handled it all with such grace. How very misunderstood this incredible man was. And the focus should have been on his resiliency instead of making him out to be an eccentric weirdo. MJ was a gift to the world, and deserved to be more understood and less judged. But still ,it sounded too late.

@gabitza1234 I really think all Michael ever really needed to hear was for his father to just tell him he loves him and that he was proud of him. There's a clip out there of one of his producers or managers (I can't remember which, sorry) telling a story from the day Thriller went multi platinum, and if I remember the story correctly Michael wasn't even happy that day and he told the guy telling the story "Ya know (name I can't remember) even with everything I've done my dad's never told me that he was proud of me not even once." I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist of what MJ said to him. It really goes to show just how much parental affection and approval matter to people and kids, especially.

And let's be honest, even before the vitiligo became apparent, Michael looked different pretty often even when brown-skinned. He had very strong features that became really striking the older he got. I think that's what made him so beautiful. A strong jawline, prominent cheekbones, stunning eyes. He went up and down in weight a lot, too, from the anorexia.

Joe knew how to be a disciplinarian but not a father. A real man and father can be authoritative, strict and command respect from his children without physically or emotionally abusing them. A lot of Michael's issues stem from the verbal abuse, especially the ones regarding his appearance/his nose. I don't know what was going on in Joe's head for him to think it was okay to attack his children's appearance the way he did, but he caused so much pain and suffering.

Vitiligo completely changed his body, he had 99% of his body covered by the disease and to hide the spots, he put on heavy makeup, which took hours and hours. Yes, he had plastic surgery, but what really made him look different was his vitiligo and heavy makeup. Remembering that he also tattooed the contour of his eyes, mouth and head to hide his baldness. The tattoos he made around his eyes and mouth made them appear larger. Not to mention that Michael didn't eat well and was completely thin, and when you get very thin, your appearance automatically changes. He also aged over time, and the vitiligo became stronger over the years. He fought through it all. In 1984, he also suffered burns to his scalp and this affected his appearance and his health, he would go on tour soon and needed plastic surgery. Not to mention, for many years, Michael suffered from depression, which was crucial for his appearance to change, so before you judge him based on his appearance, look and see everything he's been through.

Michael spoke facts. The cheekbones can be explained by the extreme weight loss and makeup and contour. It's heartbreaking but so very relatable because I think we all have things that were self-conscious about and he was dealing with that, but on a larger scale being in the public eye. He was a cute kid and teen and I wished he would've been more open with his struggles because that's what makes us as humans relate to each other and understand and it's unfortunate that he's no longer here to watch his kids grow up. My heart still breaks for his kids, and I admire how he tried his best to protect them from the public, which I'm sure he wished would've happened for him as a kid.

@@christaylor7916 it’s a felony for a medical examiner to falsify an autopsy report. You’ve made huge assumptions about his or her illegality unsupported by any facts. @@lisafink98 never said that it was falsified. I said that MJ could have simply been bleaching and not experiencing vitiligo. @@christaylor7916 Vitiligo is diagnosed by skin biopsy, not merely visualizing discoloration patches. Further, there is no such thing as bleaching yourself white. MJ inherited it from his father’s side of the family and he and his makeup artist fought like hell to hide it, at first covering the white and when that progressed too far, they covered the black instead. I told you, there’s an entire interview about it where she describes what they went through to hide it, it wasn’t easy. No medical examiner is going to conclude a deceased suffered from some condition without confirming it, they don’t guess when there is a way to verify, and in the event it cannot be verified, the autopsy note will say the condition is “suspected” or “suspicious for” or other such qualifying language. Here, there is no such qualifier and no factual basis to question its legitimacy.

They picked on this man so much, they really tormented him his whole life. I'm not even a big Michael Jackson fan, but even I can say that in the 80s with little plastic surgery at that point Michael was a great looking guy naturally - but regardless of that fact he could never see the beauty in his face because of the years of consistent bullying around his appearance. That is what pushed him to the heightened amounts of Plastic surgery, which is obvious had been done to his face as much as he was ashamed to admit it. I just wish he was more open about his vitiligo as well - so that people wouldn't crucify him for his skin. What he said was so true - no one said a thing about the millions of people tanning but instead they decide to pick on him. What a sad, sad life he lived - he never knew the love his fans showed him tirelessly - because as love crawls hate flies. I really feel like the years of his terrible mental health as a byproduct of being the most famous man on the planet really destroyed him from the inside out and caused him to do so many silly things unnecessarily. This world didn’t deserve Michael. He suffered a lot from people and their speculations. Very sad. He couldn’t have a good life with that great talent.

I wish Michael could have only seen himself the way many of us the fans looked at him. He was an incredible human being, and like Michael himself said in the clip 'why do people care?' regarding his looks. His main focus was his music, dancing, his creations, one of which is still the #1 best selling album in the history of the world.

I kind of believe Michael when he said he changed. A nose job can change your whole face. Plus adolescent we start shifting when we get older. I know, I used to have a fat face and was on the thicker side. And my whole face changed once I got in my 20s now. I still favor, but my nose is bigger wider. I’m taller more skinnier and face/shape looks different. Everyone changes differently. Plus he said he would sometimes not eat. That can play a big part too.

God rest his soul.. I miss this man very much! I’ve been a fan since I was like 5 or 6. Any time his music came on our floor model 📺 I would be glued to it, dancing and singing along, trying to be like him. He was a role model to me and I loved him and his music so much! He was such a pure soul! No matter how the media tried to portray him as a bad person, I still supported him and did not believe one ounce of the BS they tried to pin on him!

growing up we had music in our home all the time, for my siblings and me music was life! it is in our veins, our hearts and souls and it didn't matter what kind of music, we'd listen to country (my mom met my dad singing country in clubs) and soul, jazz, piano and when 2Pac came on the scene my mom was obsessed with him (she thought he was the most handsome thing to walk the earth) but i remember my child hood so much more vividly thanks to music and when i hear Michael explain what he went through just to entertain us, it's heart breaking! to think some of my best memories are intertwined with one of his songs and he had to bleed for me so i would have that memory. no one, regardless of how popular they are should have to sacrifice their own happiness so we can be entertained! i am so sorry Michael! once in a lifetime God gives us these Angels like you and Whitney, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., JFK, Abraham Lincoln and many others and we take and take and take of them until there's nothing left and we end up destroying this beautiful person, this gift God has given us and then God takes the gift back because we were undeserving. at least that's what i believe.

Gosh dang! Listening to interviews of Mike, being asked again and again about his appearance is downright VERY intrusive! Why can't we be much better in treating musicians and artists?? Why can't we just talk about his artistry and his genius in doing his music and videos?? I can feel the pressure being placed on him while talking about these things. The man didn't want to talk about this sensitive matter, his source of insecurity, so just leave it alone, please! Saying it in a present tense? Yes, because he's still being ridiculed by his appearance today beyond his grave!

it's an injury and the pain was much deeper and no one saw it, they just made fun of it without understanding, the scars from childhood are harder to treat but not impossible, talk to someone about it and Don't be too hard on yourself, tell yourself that you can't control everything in your life. I am speaking to you with full knowledge of the facts, I experienced the same thing.
