My brother had one in the 80s, it was way ahead of anything on the road. Smooth, quite quick and a head turner too. I really liked going for drives with my brother, not to mention he was an ace driver and learned alot from him being in the car with him. This video brings back magical memories.❤

Hey Mitch. You definitely need to wear a respirator when cleaning a car that had or has mice in it. My brother is a paramedic and said it can be deadly for your lungs to breathe in the toxic air due to mice. Be careful and we love you. This detail was a blast to watch. Amazing before and afters 😍

Not only have I seen this car before but I used to own one. I had a 1987 XT Turbo in Red. The car was like a space ship on the inside. There were no dials at all, only buttons and switches. The height adjustment was a really cool feature. It would give you 4" in the front and 6" in the rear for clearance. The entire dash was all digital and the glow at night was impressive. It handled very well in the snow with the 4WD. I remember taking it when I went skiing. Never had an issue. Owned it for a couple of years until I bought a New 1989 Turbo Trans Am in Black. Now that was a car!

Amazing! I used to own one of these... electropneumatic suspension, and pushbutton 4x on the fly! The 'hill-holder' was a treat to have with a manual transmission, too. Nice work, this really takes me back. Good luck getting it stuck in a snowbank, one winter I hydroplaned in slush off the hwy in the Pine Pass. Went 15' down a bank, steered straight the whole way down, and when we towed it straight back out I was able to drive it into town. No problem. Second all-time favourite to my Datsun 260z.

Such a worthy car for a full restoration. You just don’t see many of them out there anymore, and from what I’ve read about the XT, only 98,918 were ever produced in total for the worldwide market over its short, 6 year run - 1985 to 1991. It’d be a real shame not to have someone give that thing the love it deserves…

You sir have an amazing talent! I drove one of those cars in the early 90's. It wasn't a bad car to drive. The problem that I had with it was the fact that most people would stare at you while driving it. As a rare car collector, it is a car that I would most likely buy. The Subaru's of that time were very well known for rusting rather quickly. A lot of them didn't make it much past 10 years old due to rust and being very unsafe because of the rust. It's a cool car that I hope does get driven again.

Geek, I'm only into this vid for 5.5" . . I like your narration, and the way you cover all the bases. I used to do detailing among other tasks for a major Chevy dealership, and I was taught how to do this; I kind of miss this work.

100% I want to see more like this. This was absolutely incredible! I loved seeing this being restored to some of its former glory after sitting for over a decade outside in the elements. This was one of my favorite videos you have done. If you are able to find more cars like this, please do! FANTASTIC!!

I detailed our three cars this summer. I had bought the Detail Geek brushes that go in my drill to scrub the carpets, seats and cloth surfaces. The worst spot was my sister in laws car (1990 Miata one-owner) where she had spilled coffee into the carpet bunches of times through the years. I ended up pressure washing that area over and over and over until the water came out clear. The brushes did an amazing job just like you see in these videos. All cars interiors came out looking like new. Highly recommend those brushes!

I've always been interested in detailing cars knowing how disgusting some cars are it still interests me and this channel really pushes those interests more. I'd really love to start my own detailing/restoring business someday but im clueless when it comes to using the right tools/chemicals on the right conditions of the vehicle

Great job Mitch! I think you should do more of these kinds of details. It's good fun and gets the car a new lease on life. I remember going to a Subaru dealer when it was first introduced in the states and seeing this on the showroom floor. The sales people were pretty proud of it and were showing me how strong the door was by opening it and sitting on top of the window ledge. Quite impressive.

Looks great! You EARNED EVERY PENNY! The facts/details you shared about the car along the way were great. I have a friend that works at a Subaru Dealership, has a couple WRX’s and shared this with him. A quick follow up as to what actually happened with the vehicle would be cool.

I love weird '80s cars... always amazes me how a car gets abandoned or just left. A 200,000 mile junker I can imagine, but this would have been a looker back in the day! We had the Subaru in the States with the windows that only rolled down halfway, weird car but it's a collector's item now just like I'm sure this one is!

Hi Mitch. MITCH HERE! I was in my late teens when this car came out! Fun commercials! "Whooptie-doo for my Subaru!" Gramma would exclaim after stealing it and rallying it in the backyard creek. I was intrigued because it had a "pistol-grip" shifter, just like my mr. Norms challenger!

Yeah, an update would be great. I'm assuming the mechanicals can be sorted pretty much, but the body looks like it has severe rust issues and finding replacement panels is going to be difficult, even finding a donor car isn't going to be easy. Your work at getting it looking as good as it does is amazing as always.

I've owned 3 of those back in the mid 90's and they were fantastic cars. Even back then folks didn't know what to think of them especially when they saw the Subaru badge on the hood. I can remember a trip to Maine when I had to stop for some groceries at a Walmart along the way and when I came out of the store there was a crowd huddled around my car remarking "It says it's a Subaru!" and another remarked "That's not a Subaru! It's not ugly enough!". I had to explain to them that this was their (Subaru's) attempt at a sports coupe, and was more about aerodynamics than horsepower since mine wasn't a turbo charged model nor was it 4-wheel drive. It however could easily do well over 100mph (I personally had it to 120), and as the speed increased the car became even easier to handle due to shape of the vehicle which would cause the air stream to push the car down essentially turning the entire car into a giant spoiler. I'm into classic cars now with owning 2 Corvettes, but would love to get my hands on one of these as I believe it would be a giant hit at car shows considering how unique they were.
