Dale of Merchants jumped right into my top 5 of all time, just outta nowhere. I saw the box, thought it looked nice, saw that it was a deck builder and bought it because of that and wasn't expecting much. I own everything made for this game now, and I absolutely love all the variation and combos you can pull off. Perfect mix of light'sh yet deep and very strategic... and with lots of random fun, let's not forget :P

I also rate Dale of Merchants series 7/10 - it's a really cool design. I prefer it with 3 players (you have more animal combinations available). But I have to say that when it comes to deck deconstructon deckbuilders, I always preferred Valley of the Kings to this ;).

I would like to start with 2 sets... which combination would be good to start with? 1/2, 2/3, 1/3?

I have the third part of the series in my collection. I really like the design and style. But from a gaming point of view, I will share my vision and claim to the game. Played with different people (geeks, beginners, older and younger generations). Almost everyone plays in this way: they buy cards and then put them on the counter, not using abilities at all or very rarely. And while I sit, I play passives, actives to scroll through the deck, etc. the player who does not do this wins me. What is the problem? Am I playing it wrong or is everyone else?

bouht the first one, we love it, but DEVIR, the publisher here in Argentina never bought the second one. such a shame.

Dale of Merchants 2 was a miss for me and my group. I definitely prefer the factions in the first game. I wonder if this will be the same.

Dale of Merchants 1 is still my favorite. My game group has kind of settled on playing the Raccoons or Crocodiles as the fun cards with the Platypus, Squirrels, Pandas and Macaws as the rest of the set. I haven't loved any of the new animals in the Collection or the 3rd but I think it is likely due to not playing the much. My group just wants to play those 6 animals.

For me, sets 1 and 2 are enough. I've noticed every new set tends to offer one more of each playing style: copying, thinning, gambling, etc. I don't even like all of these styles, I now have two of each style, and these new ones don't offer anything I'm keen on. I'm happy with what I have, and unless they release some truly new playing styles I'm good.
