I love this game solo! I could see it being frustrating multiplayer, though. Regardless, all those different card decks and card combos to find will keep me coming back for a long time! Highly recommend!

The very first rewiew i have seen from Tom Vasel was for Agricola. Now... for Halertau. After all this time i still love the Dice Tower rewiew! Thank you!

My first higher level game from Rosenberg and I had a lot of fun. Didn't do very well my first time, but pulling off huge combos is so satisfying. The solo works really well and you can play a game of it in a reasonable amount of time.

Keep the farming games coming, Uwe! They are definitely why he is my fave designer. I just wrapped up my 4th solo play and currently would say it's my 3rd favorite of his games behind Fields of Arle and Feast for Odin. Can't wait to play this one vs. humans!

I think the only Uwe game Tom loved right out of the gate was Caverna, which he could immediately warm to because it was essentially Agricola 2.0 and thus the game was already a favorite, in a sense... Glad he liked it and admits he might grow to love it, because I pre ordered it months ago gambling that Tom would give his seal of approval! There are few games he loves that I don’t. Well, okay Cosmic is... okay...

I’m not much of a Uwe Rosenberg ‘fan’, but no doubt he’s had quite a reasonable amount of variety. Theme wise, he does like farming, and his games are often built around engine building, but even critics, I think, would be hard pressed to tell me they are the same thing over and over. His other 2020 release was New York Zoo, which is nothing like the game presented here. The two games of his I find most fun: Agricola and Patchwork, are nothing alike in my opinion. And how is Heingist like Bohnanza? I dont see it Shanerion. That said, I cant stand Le Harve (Ive wanted to like it for years, but I find it nearly as much fun as doing a spreadsheet or preparing my tax return). I can respect Feast of Odin and Caverna, but have zero desire to own them. Bottom line: he is a well received designer, with a vast library. Good thing there’s a ton of more games for those of us that simply dont enjoy his work as much as others.

Sigh I’m sure I will play this and I probably will like it it just is hard to get super pumped for yet another farming game with a very similar look. But I love Caverna and Feast so prob will like this as well

I am excited to play this, but it really feels like this is a larger worker placement that still features that Reykholt mechanism where you are basically just trying to get enough resources to move your house. I am hoping there is more to this than that specific mechanism.

I really like the concepts of these games like Agricola. I actually own Agricola, but the idea of playing for *more than two hours* on a single super-competitive game is a big no-no-no. You need a player group that is so super-passionate that they will all want to learn the tips and tricks over multiple long playthrough. The idea is cool, but the play time is still way too high.

I have played this game solo 11 times so far, and it is much different than his other games. Those who complain about the cardplay either haven't played the game enough or don't understand how to take advantage of them. In pretty much all of the games that I have played, I concentrate on 2 things, which are both equally important to scoring well in this game: 1) getting enough resources to move the Community Centre 1 or 2 times each round (don't forget the tools!) AND 2) pushing towards fulfilling at least one of my opening hand gateway cards. I find that this latter strategy really helps get the cards flowing - which is the best part of this game!

I just couldn't shake off all his other games while playing this. When you've got Caverna, Fields of Arle, Odin etc, why do you need Hallertau? The card play ended up being more of a detriment then a plus due to the luck swings it has. He already has a bunch of awesome farming games, I think at this point we need to diversify.
@ilqrd.6608

I don't think there's anything wrong with farming games (on brand) as long as he delivers fresh new experiences. Not sure he did that here but I'm not sure what pasting e.g. a space theme on his games will do if he delivers samey experiences.
