EVERY band? Unless it was recorded in the last 10-20 years, odds are they’ve never heard it. A major part of being a serious musician is understanding the history and too many people seem to revel in their ignorance.

I mean it's a good question Carlos Santana is the founder of the band Santana. He released music both under the band and as a solo artist. So it's plausible you would know Carlos Santana music without knowing Santana music (or vice versa) :D

Maiden and Santana are dead in sound quality compared to what we have grew up on, that’s the only reason I don’t like most oldies... I can listen for a couple songs but after a bit it just doesn’t satisfy my ears. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@kitoyobeni1 But, IIRC, Metallica didn't actually credit "The MISFITS", but the individual band members (at least when the tracks appeared on Garage Days Re-Revisited). Took me a bit of searching when I first heard Metsllica's covers to find out who it was, and then even my favorite record shop couldn't hook me up as their original output was rather hard to come by, and we were something like 6 years from the reunion.

great content guys I'm good with everything that has been said in the video, even the fact the Austin couldn't name a song by the rolling stones or iron maiden, but the pearl jam one got to me, maybe because I'm a pearl jam fan. give their song "black" a shot, after hearing the original you can get into the unplugged version, it got very emotional and iconic! keep up the good work brothers, love you both \m/ :)

@LWKGD Um.. the policeman has been convicted of manslaughter on the basis of evidence. He killed that man. I do not care if it was racism or not, police abuse their power like crazy and do not use it well. It's so funny with The Cure. I couldn't name any of their songs until I started listening to them last year. After listening to a few albums I realized I knew so much of their discography just from how much they've been in movies and TV, I just didn't know I knew them. If you guys want to check them out, I would recommend Disintegration. Also for some others I would recommend: Anthrax - Among The Living Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast Pearl Jam - Ten (You've probably heard every song on this album and you don't know it.)

The other day I was messaging a friend about music and he asked what music I liked, I told him I enjoyed metalcore, post-hardcore, deathcore, emocore, and stuff like Paramore and Panic! and even some Ariana Grande and stuff. I feel like The Cure were very ahead of their time. I think of them as like the "Orgy" of the 80's. I'm sure at some point you have both heard "It's Friday, I'm in love." That's them. I would highly suggest checking their catalog out though. Very good.

Pearl Jam definitely hurt me the most 😂 I named like 10 songs out loud the second I saw it. Also if you plan on listening to an album per band, go with “Ten” for Pearl Jam. It’s the album with even flow and Jeremy on it

honestly at pearl jam I just started screaming "NO, NO" at my laptop and didn't hear anything else in the rest of the video UPDATE: "cheap trick" "I don't even know what that is" hurt too UPDATE UPDATE: for me, the biggest band I "know of" without actually knowing a song by is probably Dream Theater, so I guess none of us are perfect

If you're up for hearing some Dream Theater to expend your horizons, check out the "Scenes From a Memory" album from 1999. It's a very well done concept album with a pretty good story about love, death, and reincarnation. The last track, "Finally Free," is one of my favorite songs of all time.
