If by "winter" you mean a card game, then Winter is Coming! Cody checks out the zany antics of those kooky Starks, Lannisters, Night's Watch and more in this new edition of Fantasy Flight Games' Living Card Game!

Great video Cody. I have two core sets and have been enjoying this one. I'm about 50/50 on replacing Netrunner with this as my LCG. I'm hoping the great IP will bring in some players that might not otherwise try an LCG type game. Keep up the great videos. Oh and next time George calls tell him to keep it simple. I think all your great complex plots are only confusing him because he used to write faster.

Nice review, thanks :) Sorry to be a rule hunter, don't know if you played it wrong, or explained it wrong, just wanted to make some clarifications: 4:20 - 4:26... Any number of attackers that have the corresponding symbol. 5:13 - 5:19... The defender does not hand one power to the attacker if the attack is unopposed. The attacker gains it from the global pool. 5:20... Can't quite hear what you say here, but in addition to the extra power token, other normal challenge specific winning effect also take place if it is unopposed. So the attacker still kills, discards og steals a power, depending on challenge. I played a 3 player game the other day. Base game, Lannister/Tyrell deck, prebuilt from the rules. During the first round I got 7 power tokens through various buffs, that really kicked the game off and made it fun and exciting from turn 1. It also granted me a big fat crosshair on my head, but that's part of the charm. And I agree with Brandon Zimmer, I think the base game is excellent and complete for up to four players. That's what we have played with so far. Hope you are enjoying the game more, and keep up the good reviews :)

Thank you, Martin. It's been a while since we played it so I don't know if I got those rules wrong or if I just misspoke.

Another very small nitpick is that whoever has the highest initiative gets to decide who the first player is. It doesn't necessarily mean they ARE the first player. For example, a common Martell build actually wants to go second, so they want to win initiative to make their opponent be the first player that turn. But I really like this review. :) Well done.

I would jump on the re-launch, but honestly I just can't keep up with the product output. It isn't even the money, but just the sheer volume countered by the lack of time to devote to it. I am merely a casual player, no desire for tournaments, so I don't think this one is for me.

+Dean Liggett know late comment here but I figured should tell you, yes I am a person that plays this game in tournaments, however, the core set alone is a great game for 2-4 players. You could easily treat it as a board game and have fun.

Brandon Zimmer Thanks for the info. I have heard nothing but good things about the new edition. Maybe I will take the plunge.

hey are you sure its a great game for 2-4 players? coz a friend told me that i need to buy the expansions and that this game alone isnt enough to play even for 2 people? what do you think?

I have only the core set and I had a lot of fun playing 2 players and 3 players games (never had the opportunitty to play with 4, yet). And yes, the core set it's not enough for 2 players that want to play with tournament rules. But again, if you are a fan of GoT and just want to have a good time with friends then you don't need to buy any additional expansions, that little box is enough. :)

Great review as usual. Hope this doesn't sound too critical of you as I appreciate your high quality, well thought out videos, but I can't imagine not at least trying Magic. I think it would add even more credibility to future reviews of card games. I play Magic and board games in equal measure so I'm not a fan boy that can't handle someone not liking the same things I do. I just think it's too important and too influential of a game to ignore, especially for a great reviewer such as yourself.

You're not wrong, and I'm not saying I'll never try it, but to be honest, it just holds no real appeal for me. Maybe someday.

I'm coming into this comment late, but, just wanted to add unsolicited thoughts. I don't play Magic for the simple fact that it is a random collection game. You never know what you are getting in packs and individual cards can be expensive. It's that secondary marked for tcgs, ccgs that kill my interest in them. Even though they are great games, they are just too much to keep up with if you plan to play seriously. I bought some starter cards for Force of Will because I really like that game, but haven't gone further because of the same reasons. So many cards to choose from to make theme decks that can compete, and people can feel overwhelmed with choice and cost. Thus, as in this review the beauty of the LCG comes in to play. I now have a card game that is a complete game without an expensive secondary market to drive how I can afford to play. It is completely valid to not play Magic but still have credibility with reviewing card games. It's a different genre that caters to a different crowd.

Bad Karma great points. I would add that it's not necessary to buy Magic to try it. Also a single game of Magic takes about 10 to 15 minutes all things being equal. I just don't see a reason not to try it. He's honest about it though and that goes a long way with me.

Sure, just to try, I agree. Plenty of people have enough cards to let you try or you can try for free online. I was thinking beyond as something sustainable, but I agree with your point. And like you said, to others not playing Magic will not hurt his credibility. Now, if was actually reviewing CCGs like Magic, then yes, need to play so you have something to compare to with that influential game! Thanks for replying, take care.
