We have a doe who appears every year. She actually approached me & made a “mewing” noise a few times. I stayed away (don’t want her trusting humans too much) but she seemed relaxed in our neighborhood. She brought her fawns & now they are grown & THEY show up. I talk to them in soothing tones to let them know they are welcome. It’s a blessing to see them grow.

There's a certain sadness, a certain bitter sweet reality to a young fawn or baby animal that has been saved by a human, growing up, returning to her family and nature and never quite recognizing him again.
