As an adult collector, my rankings would be 1) American Girl (best quality & durability, easy to customize, great storylines) 2) Adora Amazing Friends (nice poseability, very detailed hands and feet, often on sale) 3) Our Generation (huge variety of skin tones, hair colors, etc., very good value for the money, nice quality) 4) My Life As (vinyl upper body, cute outfits, good value for money) 5) Disney ILY dolls (fun, decent quality, good value). I mainly collect AG but have several of each of the others as well. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts, Elvira. I love 18" dolls so much.

As a European, I dont have access or money to get an AG or My Life As dolls/accessories. My favorite doll is Our Generation though. I love their face molds and their diversity in hair colour/texture, skin and eye colour. They are also cheaper than AG. I do wish that My Life As accessories and playsets were available in Europe. I think OG have great quality. They can handle to be played with. I only have one thats posable, and the "skin"-texture is a little different from the regular OG dolls, but I love that she can sit in a chair and actually hug/hold things. Your doll in the Christmas sweater is a Truly Me #28. I am a huge AG collector, but I only knew the brand existed as an adult. So no nostalgia factor for me. Still love AG the best of all the 18" dolls.

BFC Ink, or Best Friends Club dolls are really beautiful! They are slimmer and fully jointed, but their hair is poor quality. But finding ones in great condition is worth your while!

I'm into Ag because they are the most customizable, but my niece loves MyLife, and I absolutely love OG playsets better than any of the other play sets, with MyLife running a close second. They all have a lot of play value :)

Just at Kohl’s today they had the HUGEST Journey girl section 💕 I was tempted but I resisted.

I picked up 3 18 inch dolls from Goodwill over in Orange City for $4 each loved this video btw!

What about Gotz dolls? My daughter loves them and the quality is far superior to all these doll lines mentioned in my opinion. We are from the Netherlands but we also have Molly, Nanea and Courtney. But the Hannah dolls from Gotz have beautiful faces compared to AG, but the playsets from AG are better! AG is better in theming books and playsets and Gotz in doll craftsmanship. But that’s our opinion 🤭☺️

American girl seem to be going downhill in quality and design and up in price 🤔

I collect AG dolls so I'm biased saying it's the best. I usually get accessories and furniture from Our Generation though

I’ve recently stumbled across your channel and have been enjoying your videos. I’m a doll lover in my mid 30s and also a mom so I love the stories about you enjoying dolls with your mom, and you also bring up a lot of nostalgia from my childhood. I don’t have the space to ever seriously collect 18” dolls but I do still have the American girls from my childhood and I certainly have an appreciation for the size and doll-types. I ALWAYS lusted after the magic attic girls in addition to AG. I also always dreamed of having a My Twinn doll someday. Do you remember those? I believe, like the magic attic dolls, they were a bit larger than AG, but the idea of having a doll that took personalization farther than the “American girl of today” (I think that’s what they were called back in the 90s) was soooo appealing. I totally agree with you that the My Life dolls and the Journey Girls are both very nice sculpts and excellent AG alternatives for the price. I have never spent much time handling any of the more budget 18” dolls, but they seem lovely. I also never cared much for the Our Generation dolls, but since they’ve changed the sculpt I’ve fallen in love and am very tempted to get one. I completely agree with you about the pet peeve of the soft body showing. It has always bugged me about American Girl outfits. The ily dolls are super cute and the Disney princess dolls’ torso articulation is 😍. I just feel their face sculpts are a tiny bit off and they always look scared or surprised but other than that they are lovely.

The Disney princess and me dolls are the best dolls

I have eleven My Life dolls, and love all of them. I love the upper plastic body, because when you dress them in sleeveless dresses, and bathing suits, it looks so much better.

I think that the ILY are beautiful! I have one of the Our Generation dolls and they are so cute. I adore the price and they have great playsets. I used to have Stardust Classics dolls. Those were my favorite 18 inch doll line. There was a fairy and a princess and a little time traveler... I loved the fantasy element.

I don't really like that type of doll, but the Disney ones are the cutest and if I was going to get any of them, it would be the Disney dolls. I am interested to see what other dolls you have in this size range. Take care Sweetie ;)

American girl has a new 1920s doll now so all we need is a 1990s doll and we are good to go

Magic Attic are my favorite followed by Journey girls, Princess and Me, BFC Ink., and Our Generation. Never liked the teeth on American Girl, either!

I feel like my life dolls are better for little little girls like 3-6 and the American girl dolls are better for 6-10 or so, even though you can send a doll away if it gets messed up with AG but it'd be easier to replace one since the my life dolls are cheaper instead

I have one American girl doll. I always wanted one and i found her thrifting for only $2 she didn't have her skates but she had everything else and i had shoes that go perfectly with her. However for my budget, my life or our generation will probably be top tier for me because I have tons of them from thrifting. I do have the toddler princess dolls as well but not the same as they're all plastic no soft body like the others. The new Disney 18 inch dolls at target that look like they are Disney bounding are absolutely adorable too but they are a higher price point than our generation. I used to have a bunch of clothes for them but had to donate them unfortunately because of leaving a toxic home and i couldn't keep anything but my own clothing when I moved.

I love the Disney Animators' doll line.

I agree with you about the My Life Dolls they are the best for your budget 👍though I like AG dolls I stopped buying them because they are too expensive 👎 I still have my daughter's Belle P&M doll & they're all just beautiful😍 the only thing I didn't like was that they were so thin they couldn't wear normal 18 inch clothes so I think that was their downfall 😔 I had Cinderella too but her leg broke last year & sadly I had to throw her away 😞 I gave my mom my Journey Girls but I love them still too 😃 Never had Magic Attic but did have BFC Inc dolls & they too were very thin & couldn't share clothes but they were the prettiest of all in my opinion 😍 I've never liked the OG dolls either😆

I don’t know how to explain it but I feel like the faces on ag are much softer features and much cuter. Like the other two look dead and startled. You can see the personality in American girl. Also as a collector with the play sets, the og stuff isn’t proportionate to the dolls. I got the milkshake set and the ag one is big enough to for the dolls to actually hold. I’ve noticed all of their play sets are too small for the 18 inch dolls. I buy the clothes but they’re still much thinner.

The My Life dolls are scary in real life. They have such a stunned look to them 😮 I was at Walmart yesterday and saw a whole wall of them, it was the stuff of nightmares lmao. 💀 I would rather get a pre-owned AG doll for the same price… I recently bought an American Girl ‘just like you’ #24 for $15, and she’s in great shape. Also came with an AG outfit. There are deals to be had on the pre-owned market, you do have to spend time looking. The Journey and some of the Our Generation dolls are cute. The Magic Attic dolls are adorable! I really don’t like the Disney princess-style ILY dolls, nah. American Girl dolls have the best quality, and you can change their wig of it gets too sparse or someone decided to give them a haircut. The vinyl is super high quality, there’s no hard plastic.
