Technically, Genji can turn Hanzo's dragons against him if you deflect the arrow before it turns into the dragon attack. Also, I can't wait for you to watch "Honor and Glory" it's my favorite of the Overwatch Shorts.

"Ryuu ga waga teki wo kurau" Which is what Hanzo says means "Dragon, consume my enemies" "Ryujin no ken wo kurae" is what Genji says, and directly it translates to "take the sword of the dragon god". He's basically saying "suck my dragon sword" then he kills you. Genji and Hanzo are siblings in the Shimada clan(Japanese mafia family), and they had a falling out. Hanzo won and left Genji for dead. Mercy saved Genji's life however, but he was so far gone she could only do it by turning him into a cyborg. Being more machine than man was kind of a big deal to him, and he eventually found Zenyatta who taught him how to be more chill and accept what he now was. That is why he calls Zenyatta "master". He now wishes to save his brother, who is now basically on everyone's shit list. Bonus fun fact, it's hinted that Genji and Mercy have developed something of a romance. It is not possible in game for Genji to ult and just make Hanzo's dragons turn around, no. However, when Hanzo ults he actually shoots an arrow that travels for a few feet then turns into the dragons. If Genji deflects that arrow, which is tricky, the dragons will be treated as if Genji shot the arrow and will kill Hanzo and his teammates. Genji can deflect ANY ultimate that shoots a projectile. That includes things like Zarya's graviton surge. Ironically though, he cannot deflect Zarya's laser, which is the only thing normal people could actually deflect. Originally Hanzo had a sonic arrow, which he still has, and a scatter arrow. The scatter arrow was eventually replaced with the storm arrows because it just did SO much damage and if you just aim it a little in front of any character's feet, it will turn them into swiss cheese. Genji, if the player is fast enough, can deflect the scatter arrow itself as well as the shrapnel made from it, but other characters were kinda totally screwed. It was much less difficult to use than just shooting an arrow at their heads, and it did way more damage, so they swapped it out.

Re: the sword. Hanzo used to use a sword, in fact he was BETTER than Genji at the sword. He was better than Genji at pretty much everything. But the day he killed Genji with his sword, he never touched a sword again, which is why he uses the bow. That's the sword you see at the temple.

so fun fact... both were in the original version of OW... and not... In the original concept, Genji was a Cyborg Archer and Swordsman. But they loved too many concepts that they split him into Hanzo and Genji. Also, they did remove Scatter Arrows and replace them with Storm Arrows (6 rapid fire, albeit weak arrows). Some background Hanzo and Genji were part of a yakuza clan but Genji didn't like the clans activities and tried to break away. But Hanzo was charged by his father or the clan elders to kill him and restore the clan. And so Genji was seriously wounded in the attempt and so most of his body was replaced with cybernetics. But he saw himself as a monster and not even human anymore, but he eventually found the monk Zenyatta who helped him temper his rage at his brother and clan and allowed himself to be at peace with his body and it was shortly after that that Genji joined Overwatch to find a purpose to his life and to give something to the world. And Hanzo though he was ordered to he felt shame at having to kill his brother so he was exiled from the clan soon after

What happened, is Hanzo attacked Genji in a blind quest for power given by his father. He didn't realize what he had been sent to do at the time, believing that he was fighting for the right reason, and Hanzo used the then sword to attack his brother, breaking it in the process. After this, he swore off using a blade ever again. Genji narrowly survived, and Dr. Ziegler (Mercy) patched him up on the condition that he would join Overwatch under it's covert ops division Blackwatch and it's leader Gabriel Reyes (Reaper). When Overwatch disbanded, Genji went missing, hiding out in Egypt much like Ana did. Hanzo went AWOL, occasionally working with Talon, the same group that employs Sombra, Moira and Reaper, but always returning to his old home once a year to pray for his brother's forgiveness. While Hanzo is left unclear, Genji did answer the message from "Are You With Us", joining the newly reformed Overwatch along with Mercy. That's the lore behind these two as far as I know.

You’re not the only one that would like a movie 🎥🍿 made about the Overwatch Universe. However, I think there’s plans to have a TV series or something along those lines.

The overwatch videos are the ultimate irony in context. They are so well-made and so well written that they could be used to make a very interesting movie. And yet when blizzard decides to actually make a movie it’s live-action blend with CGI over some of the characters. Because movie makers are still stuck with this mindset the cartoons are for kids.

After he could no longer perform black ops missions he saught some sort of peace and relief from his cyborg condition which lead him to the mountain temples of Shambala. No reason for them to change McCree's name. No one associated the character, who has a crap ton of lore, to a random staff member. All Blizzard did was make the connection themselves, just making things worse. Not sure why one would support such a terrible decision.

Apologies for being late I had some irl things to do. Genji and Hanzo Shimada are apart of the Shimada clan. The clan is a criminal empire whos current head is genji and hanzos father. Hanzo was ordered by Sojiro (his father) to kill Genji because Genji was going on a path seperate from the clan and Sojiro saw Genji as a liability to the family buisness. Genji and Hanzo had a major duel that nearly took Genji's life, you can actually see part of both duels inside point b of Hanamura (it is actually Shimada castle). Every year on the anniversary of their duel, Hanzo goes to shimada castle to give insense offerings trying to appease his mind. After the first duel, Genji was saved by Mercy and she was forced to put him into a cybernetic suit to save his life. Genji felt like he didnt belong anymore and traveled the land until he arrived in nepal and got mentored by Zenyatta to help make peace with his new body. Neither Genji or Hanzo are apart of Overwatch officially. Hanzo left the family business following the duel because of what it did to him, which is why the shimada clan is enemies with hanzo. Genji is apart of Blackwatch, which is like the SAS of overwatch. officially blackwatch doesnt exist because they go on top secret missions that are controversial in the public eye if they were committed by Overwatch. If you deflect the arrow that hanzo's ultimate actually deploys by before it transforms into dragons, you can actually send it back at him

Many people don't understand why Hanzo doesn't still recognize Genji at stage where he says: "Only a Shimada can control the dragons" because He met many assassins sent after him after he left his clan but only now he thought, someone from his own clan/family came after him. So he acceptes his death.

in their youth, Hanzo was always the dutiful one training to take over the role of clan leader when his father passed. Genji did not care for the lifestyle, and wiled his time away at the local arcade. Their father favored them both, allowing Genji to be free, while training Hanzo to take over, seeing it as Genji making the decision himself he will not attempt to take the role. When their father died, other higher up members of the clan pushed Hanzo to tie up the loose end. Something they had pushed for his father to do, but never happened. And so Hanzo killed his brother, his duty to the clan. But this, broke him. And the Shimada clan lost both it's sons that day. Hanzo would never draw a sword again, and would only use the bow and martial skill. Genji survived, and was brought to Angela Ziegler, aka Mercy. Through cybernetic augmentation, he was restored. But he harbored great rage, both at his brother's betrayal, and the monster he had become. Gabriel Reyes, aka Reaper, still a part of Overwatch at the time, specifically the black ops division Blackwatch, took Genji in, and he joined in missions for the organization. This continued until one incident where a top Talon executive was killed during a mission, and the subsequent fight through Venice was on display for the world to see. Blackwatch was dissolved, and Genji wandered. He ended up eventually in Nepal, under the omnic monks there. And he would train under Zenyatta. His time there is not fully known, but he managed to find inner peace, and with it, the strength to forgive his brother for their actions years ago. And so he extended a hand, in hope his brother, could forgive himself.

I Don't know when you stoped playing but around April the Archives event happens allowing you to play as a member of Blackwatch on their last mission called Retribution.

Well Hanzo and Genji are the dragons... Hanzo fought his brother cause the clan's elders told him to talk to Genji and made him participate in family bussines but Genji wanted to live the life his father let him live before... playing games, being a playboy. But in the end this thang turned into real conflict and Genji lost. Hanzo loves his brother so much that he wasn't able to give him the final blow even Genji suffered so much pain. He let Genji die (but he didn't confirmed the death)... Genji was saved by the doctor Ziegler which Hanzo didn't know and thought his brother was really dead, that is why he gave him the offerings at the temple "..the den of ur enemies." even when Hanamura was originally their home Hanzo left the clan after the fight cause the burden was too much to handle. Mercy took Genji to Overwatch who gave him the new life in form of new body so he joined them. Hanzo declined the offer to be part of the organization lol. Hanzo believe his brother died that day so he didn't know the ASSASIN was actually Genji till he told him. There’s a KZfaqr named Gaijin Goombah and he does a series called “Which Ninja”, analyzing media’s most popular Shinobi to see which are good and which are bad based off of actual historical ninja. Genji is one of those and you’d be surprised how far from reality Genji is. I highly recommend this series if you want to learn more about other popular characters in media and some history at the same time

Over the years they have changed or even added/taken away conversations between the two brothers. Some of the harsh criticism ones are still there such as Hanzo denying Genji is his brother, but there's an alternate to some of them where it's more Hanzo denying his own forgiveness in that he doesn't feel that Genji should have forgiven him because what he did was too heinous a crime against his own flesh and blood. I personally like both the brothers, but playing against them is sometimes buttcheeks between Genji's hyper aggressiveness and Hanzo's dang logs.

Hanzo’s Scatter Arrow was replaced with essentially a Rapid Fire move instead. It added more consistency to the game instead of just randomly shooting the arrow into a hallway and murdering 2 people

Alright, lore dump, here we go. Hanzo is the older brother to Genji, both former members of the Shimada crime family. Genji, since Hanzo was the heir to the crime family and not him, was a lot more relaxed, so the elders sent Hanzo to straighten him out. Turns out Genji sucks at sword fights and that chipped sword and cut, blood-stained banner is a reminder of what happened. Genji was presumed dead and Hanzo was exiled/left out of disgrace, causing the crime family to fall into disaway. Genji was saved by Overwatch, specifically Mercy, spawning that little ship THAT IS CANON SHUT UP REPLIES. Genji then became one of four known Blackwatch members, in Overwatch's covert ops division. Genji struggled with his cyborg body, but after Blackwatch was disbanded, he wandered the desert and found Zenyatta, who mentored him and allowed him to come to terms with what happened. He later got a call from Winston, the Recall message and tried to tell Hanzo, while making amends, in the line "the world is changing once again Hanzo, and it's time to pick a side". Hanzo also uses a bow now because he is so guilty about "killing" his brother, he stopped using swords. Bonus lore about a possible new hero: After the Shimada crime family fell apart, the Hashimoto Clan started pillaging the little town found below the mountains of Hanamura, AKA Kanezaka. But the thugs have started coming back, more injured than ever. There is a letter from a woman, to her husband, who has been captured. The letter reads about how the woman is a swordmaster and the man is an expert blacksmith. There is also mentioned how their daughter loves her new, sharp weapon, gifted by her father. The dad is forced to make weapons for the Hashimoto as well BTW. Also, offhand remark about how the mother taught GENJI AND HANZO HOW TO SWORD FIGHT! Also also, both the mother and the daughter tended the Kitsune shrine. On the map there is some graffiti with a fox that spells Yokai, witch is a type of spirit, the Kitsune being a yokai and probably the most well known. So Hanzo and Genji use spirit dragons, we could possibly get a spirit fox user with a large, 4 bladed shuriken.

Man these cinematics are just amazing and the action and animation on this one is just the best to me and the story being told both of the dragons and the story of Genji and Hanzo, just a beautiful cinematic to watch. Also good eye on the Omnic being killed, and yet Hanzo spares the others. From what I understand those people were clan members of Hanzo, and Genjis criminal family. It may also imply Hanzo doesn’t like or see Omnics and robots as equal. I could be wrong but how he reacts to Genji being more machine than man may imply he is torn on how he views his brother now. I believe that sword at that shrine area was originally Genjis sword that was used in their fight hence the small bit of damage on the blade and why Hanzo would specifically go to that spot to honour his brother. Backstory I know is Genji and Hanzo were sons of the leader of the criminal gang in Japan (can’t remeber the family name) and Genji lived a very care free and reckless life. He didn’t have any interest in his family life style, work or any interest in running the criminal underworld. Unlike Hanzo who being the older brother took it serious, and would often be disappointed how his brother acted. One day Hanzo was ordered to kill Genji, and it was an order from their father I believe. So he did follow the order, but felt guilty in doing so since then. In fact Hanzo apparently was a great swordsman, but due to his guilt of taking his brothers life with a sword, he swore to never use a sword again, and only use his bow. Genji of course survived and he was saved by Overwatch, and in return worked for them, mainly in the black ops division known as Blackwatch, which was a covert team led by Reaper who was still normal at the time. But he was still young and angry and seems after the fall of Overwatch he searched for guidance and he got it from Zenyatta. Zenyatta was the one to teach him of inner peace and accepting who he was, as Genji was very ashamed and upset of being more machine than man. Even in the game you can hear them talk at times of his journey and he will call Zenyatta “Master” Another random fact was Genji and Hanzo’s father was ashamed of how Genji use to act that he was given the nickname Sparrow as an insult. And one of Genjis skins in the game is called the Sparrow, and the other that is just called Young Genji, which are both skins that show what Genji use to look like before he got his robotic body and before Hanzo nearly killed him. And on the map the cinematic trailer is in, when you spawn in the arcade and play as Genji, he would talk about how he use to spend all day playing the games there and being at the top of the leaderboards.

Now if only the game was as good as its animations (I mean you can't even compare them to TF2 animations but still, and OW2 is a real cashgrab)

I like Genji more because of his design, and do we want a an Overwatch Movie? History shows that video game movies don't do so good and the only decently good once to my opinion are Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, and Sonic the Hedgehog

Honestly- For how much grief I've given Overwatch? It makes me sad. Overwatch as a game had so much potential, of which was lost over time through poor updates and general lack of realization. I really do wish things would've turned out differently for Overwatch.

While it's true that Dragons is very good, I think The Last Bastion is the better animated short. Visual story telling is hard to beat.
