Latinamerica as a "whole" its not the same. Its the same all of Europe. The brits are the same than the french and the germans are the same than the spanish? That music has nothing to do with Argentina at all. They want to portray the country as a typical tropical latinamerican country and Argentina its not like that.

I REPEAT its a region of 600 million people. there is NOOOOOOOOOOOOO way all countries can be similar. Argentina has strong southern european roots ethnical and cultural. Are you going to deny that? because if you do you never came to my country. I dont agree its the same at all. Peru its not the same than brazil brazil its not the same than mexico and mexico its not the same than colombia. All in all, I think this captures what distinguishes BA from other cities (even though many locals will cringe when watching the noisy carnaval parades, I do :D). Being a foreign student visiting BA you may end living in the cool part of town, spend time with local students, visit different sites of interest, but all in all I find the choices of places and people relevant, except for the lady. The music she dances to, the way she dresses has nothing to do with the folk music and traditional garments of Argentina. She's just a woman with a hobby.I don't question her choices, but that rhythm is not from Argentina, the instruments neither. Zamba, chacarera, chamame, milonga, tango are our rhythms, but not that. It's obvious she has never visited an authentic folk peña in her life.

buenos aires has more options to offer , puerto madero, recoleta, microcentro,la boca,belgrano,retiro, el rosedal, plaza de mayo,congreso ,etc... there are a lot of things to do ,one of my favorites things of BA is the tango ,it shows the mix of cultures and the passion of argentines

I have been to Buenos Aires a number of times - I enjoyed your presentation a lot. The only thing that I feel you have not included - is the fact that 'candoble' and the music that is played in the video is influenced in many ways by Brazil. I also love the boating that is available in B. Aires. It is a great city and I loved your angle of reporting!

Are you sure it's Buenos Aires? .... or is it a mixture of somewhere in brazil a little from montevideo with some of Buenos Aires ? .... Is a disaster this video. the woman dancing candombe seems to be in the wrong city.... Candombe don't identifies Buenos Aires. The candobe is Uruguayan.....

Sí obvio y eso que España (que es un país latino aunque los españoles de hoy lo ignoren, es decir, un país eurolatino) es en desarrollo humano casi tan desarrollada como UK. Lamentablemente los anglos tienen la mayor parte de los medios de comunicación y esparcen sus mentiras por todo el mundo. Algunos son tan ignorantes que creen que los españoles no son blancos por ejemplo.

@Cris Perez...Thank you for not expressing your cultural disagreements with the harshness of "...un negro inmigrante..." This reveals to me the possibility that the current term for the various cultures of Spanish speaking countries "Latinos" might be inaccurate. All the "hispanoplantes" I know seem to have distinct identities inspite of speaking the same language. Would you agree? Saludos a todos en Buenos Aires. Con permiso, por favor, una cosa mas. Es mi entendimiento que en Africa hay un solo pais de habla espanola, Equatorial Guinea.

@Jay Young, I totally agree. We share a common language but, once you zoom into each country, you notice our identiites are clearly distinct. And when it comes to Argentina, Buenos Aires (and, roughly, all the center of the country) is very different from the north. Interesante el dato de Africa, entiendo que sí, que Guinea Ecuatorial es el único país cuyo idioma oficial es el español. (creo que también hay un territorio, Sahara Occidental, donde se habla, pero no es el idioma principal). Saludos!!!

The women dancing candombe? We are in Argentina arent we? So what it is all about candombe, as far as I know Uruguayans dance this, any way perhaps she is trying to identify her roots. It would be intersting hearing her story. Sorry about the music featured in the video sounds more brazilian etc, etc, nothing to do with argentina. It was just her and only her story

Very little industrial manufacturing. Argentina is pretty much an agricultural products exporter. It needs to go up the value chain to secure its future.

Perdon, a todos los comentaristas negativos, desatisfechos con este video, les invito a producir una mejor introduccion. Me imagino que todo el video fue tomado en BA, no importa de donde surgio la tradicion, lo encontraron en BA, cosas interesantes para el espectador y que pueda antojar al posible viajante. No les invito lo mismo a los comentaristas racistas. Uds ya saben donde pueden guardar esos sentimientos, o, si no, quizas algun dia la vida les repartira cartas donde se encuentran en una enorme ciudad ajena tocando musica en la calle y aprendaran. Candombe, is a typical dance born in Uruguay. It is not very popular in Argentina really. It strucks me as interesting how they make pride of the poverty brought by "democratic socialism".

La mujer que baila Candombe no sabe que el "Fernet con coca" no es un aperitivo "Porteño" sino que como bebida se inventó en Córdoba. Por otra parte el Candombe se baila en Uruguay no en Argentina. Los Argentinos no somos los Porteños ni todos los latinoamericanos somos lo mismo!

The brits should have interviewed the guy who incidentally pops into the Picada bar scenes twice, that´s the one with the curly hair and the moustache, an artist called Daniel Santoro who is one of the most interesting painters ever born in the BA-scene, who depicts the mythological universe of PERONISM..ohhh wait, that does not fit into the cultural clichées of "latin american" art production....
