Nobel laureate and distinguished professor of Economics at City University of New York Paul Krugman in an interview with Economist Impact SE Europe Events within the context of the 28th Annual Government Roundtable: ‘I must admit that I was surprised at what the Greek public opinion was willing to put up with. Many years of extreme suffering. In any case, exiting the euro would have been technically very difficult - I think Biden should step aside and I actually have a much better opinion of vice president Harris than many people do - If it were up to me, I would have already cut interest rates in the US’. Debt is never irrelevant, since it's one of the main tools/excuses for implementing austerity. Since there is no accountability on who and under which conditions created a national debt, lower classes can be blamed and punished while oligarchs get richer.

Mr Krugman seems completely out of touch with the younger generation in USA. This is the first time i hear that well educated young people do not get the job offers they would expect and the first time i hear young people graduating and staying in their parents home

Are you sure it’s not just…something you haven’t heard of? The situation of the young is worse than it has been in a long time. Metrics like home ownership, young people unable to start families because of financial reasons etc are profound and dire indications.

Things are not so Rosy in this economy you have to live it as a normal person middle class making under $40,000 to experience what it's really like these people that you talk to should go out and talk to normal citizens that have to buy a packet of ground beef for $15 which is not a kilo but half a pound if not less

Πολύ ερασιτεχνικό. Ο χώρος μοιάζει με κυλικείο, με κολώνα στη μέση, φως έξω, σκιές στον τοίχο. Το χειρότερο είναι ο ήχος, ειδικά του παρουσιαστή. Αν είχε πιει περισσότερο νερό ίσως να μην ακούγονταν τα χείλια του τόσο πολύ, αλλά θέλει και καλύτερα μικρόφωνα. Κρίμα για τον καθηγητή.

Η προφορά του ήταν το μεγαλύτερο πρόβλημα. Προφανώς έδωσαν στον Κρούγκμαν τις ερωτήσεις από πριν γραπτώς, ειδάλλως δεν θα τις καταλάβαινε. 😃

@@theatisgr...people living in the USA been very much used to strange pronounciations since half a century ago... It's not that it really counts...ad a matter of fact whole English speaking countries have bizarre pronunciations but nobody notices or comments unless these nobodies come from downtown greece .....right ? buongiorno a tutti

What happened in Greece is, the people there did not know the difference between a loan and a grant. They maxed their credit cards and when the bill came, they freaked out. Who was to blame for the mess they created, Adolf Hitler.
