Michael I enjoy all your video's. I no longer watch Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video & cable. My best part with your videos that makes me LOL Is the comments Esme remarks and how you love & care for Esme & Simon. The second part is all your camping gears & Argo. But my most favorite is the beautiful view and the different seasons when you & Esme go camping, and the enjoyable music that I love when you share your location of the outstanding landscape. The sense of Peace & one with nature is so beautiful. You are outstanding and at times you make LOL. Thank you for an awesome videos.

The ice cleats are probably a must in the field with ice forming on sloping surfaces.Any grip you do have will likely be lost as any edges on the tread segments quickly get rounded off.I've seen videos of excavators sliding side ways out of control,and that has the potential to ruin your day.The tracks should prove durable enough as long as you can avoid prolonged use on gravel and other sharp rocks.The increased foot print should definitely give you the flotation you've needing.This modification should return the Argo back into the competent machine it is.Have a great weekend Michael And Esme!👍😃
@TheEmporiumOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale - After my short trip down the alley, I could see how the tracks had little traction on hard pack. I haven't tried it with the ice cleats yet but I'm hoping that will help a bunch. My plan is to keep them on the snow and early spring melt (slush) then remove them to prolong the life. I'm told by the Argo guys the mud gets in the joints and pins, wearing the holes and making the tracks sloppy over time. I think the rubber tracks are more of an all year round deal - but we will see how she's goes! 😄. Best wishes Michael & Esme!

Non-permanent Loctite on the set screws would keep one from losing them in the field. Carry extra pins, set screws and locking collars, too. Perhaps snowshoes as a last ditch backup might save you also.

Looks awesome! Can’t wait to see them in action. Thinking about flipping the tires around. Does it make more sense to flip the around (I understand the offset) on one side? Or move them around to the other side (and flip them) so that the treat is still in a “forward” direction, and you have the benefit of the offset? Just a thought.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Good point - I flipped them around and then to the other side so the tires face the same way as before (if that makes sense). I was told by one of the Argo guys the tires actually bite better in reverse but they are fitted the normal way for swimming. I'm kinda tempted to buy 6x 25" mud lites for the summer. Traction would be much better! 👍

@markpinther92965 жыл бұрын
Awesome! We’ve all been waiting for you to install tracks on the Argo. Plastic though.... hmm.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, I debated which tracks to install for many months. Here is my thought process. I wanted Argo branded tracks for the warranty with the machine, installing 3rd party tracks might have caused issues. I only plan to run the tracks in the snow and spring melt (no mudding). The cost of the 18" super tracks was 2.5 x less than the rubber. I can extend the tracks if I switch up to an 8x8 by adding more segments. Plastic tracks are easier on the machine than rubber tracks. Rubber tracks run for long periods half the life of the chains. Performance on snow with plastic and rubber are comparable (so I'm told). I would have liked to install the Escargo tracks but I got no response from the Canadian manufacturer 🤔. Time will tell if I chose wisely but if they don't work out I can always sell them and get new ones.
@markpinther92965 жыл бұрын
TEO: sound like you did your homework. Thanks for the reply. I always worry about extreme cold with plastic stuff like that. Worst case, you bust a track in the middle of nowhere, the wheels would likely get you out -just not uber deep snow. Thanks for sharing your thinking on this. It’s very helpful and interesting. Cheers.

@TheEmporiumOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
I think they can be used all year round but I won't be doing so. It's easier on the machine without them and I'd prefer to use them for snow and the spring melt to make them last longer. no need to turn your tires around, just put them in the same spot but on the opposite side of the machine
@TheEmporiumOutdoors6 ай бұрын
You have to size them as per the instructions with the largest at the rear as I recall. Its a while ago now 😄
@BrnTanHides6 ай бұрын
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors Smallest at the front, then largerst, second largest and then second smallest at the rear. (according to all the instructions I read) But I could be misinterpreting the instructions. As for my first comment, i was assuming the argo in the video had beadlock with offset rims. The tread pattern needs to stay in the same direction. Thats why ppl would simply put them to the other side of the machine. Once again, thats what Ive read. No actual experience with tracks yet.lol Hopefully soon though.

Which motor do you have in this one? 18hp? 23? Thanks
@TheEmporiumOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Its the 700 model so the 749cc 23 HP - You will need at least that to drive tracks in the Argo. The 18HP doesn't have the power and is also carbureted and not fuel injection!

Can you leave the tracks on all the time even going through water or will that cause problems?

@TheEmporiumOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi BDWillis - I remove the tracks as soon as the snow has gone - The machine runs better on tires during normal trail conditions. The tracks are terrible in the water - very little propulsion. I have lots more videos showing track use with the Argo if you are interested! The rubber tracks maybe better but I have no reference point. Hope that helps!

nice unit...I am thinking of buying a used 6x6... any advice for me? how much were those tracks... what year is your unit?also should I stay away from the older units like 2000 and under? thanks, Gary
@TheEmporiumOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary - My unit is a Frontier 700 - 2018 model and there are lots of upgrades from the earlier years, like the offset rims, fuel injection and bilge pump as standard. The average life of a set of chains is around 300 hours and the parts are not cheap for new chains, bearing, shafts etc. If you buy second hand look for an Admiral transmission (HDI) model with low hours and fuel injection. The carburetor models are more troublesome. For tracks, the plastic ones are over $2K CAD and rubber ones over $4k CAD - so its not cheap. If you are mechanically inclined fixing up an older Agro can be a fun project - but do your home work on spare parts pricing. Hope that helps!
@minnesotaoutdoorsnorth5 жыл бұрын
yes thanks so much...I did see a maxx 11 for 3500.00 and it sold pretty fast...it was an older one...
