When I make corn beef and cabbage on ST Patrick’s Day seasoning comes with the meat or you buy it in a bottle and it goes in the pot with the meat,cabbage and the potatoes and carrots if you’d like. That’s how we do in Massachusetts. I hope yours was seasoned because it is so delicious and of course the mustard only thing I think you were missing was vinegar for the cabbage yum

Montpelier VT is the only capitol city in the USA that has no McDonalds. Also VT outlawed billboards, which is why the views are so lovely on the highway.

They have a similar cogwheel to get up the Zugspitze in Germany. I was just there over the summer. Well worth it for anyone who gets there.

I'm a NH native now in SC. I remember while growing up our boiled dinners always included beets. The leftovers were turned into red flannel hash the next day topped with a fried egg. Haven't had those meals in decades. Would be tasty now.

I’m from NH and I’ve only made it to the top of Mt Washington twice (only once on the cog). I highly recommend looking at Mount Washington weather if you are ever feeling really bad about the winter wherever you are… it’s currently 14F with 66 mph winds 😰

We recently visited New Hampshire for Fall foliage this year! It was absolutely fantastic! The NH and Vermont mountains are so beautiful! 🙂

You can insulte your hose by using fun noodles. Cut the in half length wise. Put one on bottom then the hose then put the other half on top. In a pinch I've used old towels and wrapped around the hose or an old quilt.

I was born in Vermont and almost all my family is there....we ate boiled dinner alot growing up and still do. We make ours with a beef roast, potatoes, carrots, cabbage and rutabaga! It's super delicious and my kids love it!

The trick to bowling, is to throw the bowling ball with a good decent force, keeping lowest to the ground, and aim slightly to the left. Because more people are naturally right handed, so they don't take that into consideration, so think their right arm is dead centre. which is why the ball generally falls to the right hand side, and only knocks the last 2 down.

My older son lived in Burlington, VT for a year (about 11 years ago). Despite the really cold, very snowy weather, he loved the beauty and vibe of Burlington.

Hahahaha! Autumn in Vermont *means* freezing nights and warmer days -- that's nothing new or unusual. As a kid, it was normal to buy Halloween outfits to fit over snowsuits. Beware, though, when Winter *really* comes 'round, after the January thaw & thru until March, when the snot freezes in your nose both day and night! We went skiing and hiking in -10° or below - that's when we used wool, silk and down to keep warm! Brrrrrr!

I absolutely love Vermont! It’s my happy place, my husband went to college up there. You have to get fresh apple cider, cheese from Cabbot, chocolate from lake Champlain chocolate(their tour is fun). We enjoy spending time in north field and going to eat at the common cafe for grilled muffins and sandwiches from the Jericho county store in Jericho,VT

I have to say that I have a Ford F150 Old Body Style myself (left to me by my dad) - love that that's your rig- so cool. Those trucks are tough and honestly last much longer and are much confier than modern trucks. We live in rural Massachusetts and have family in VT. We are always astounded by how beautiful the rural areas of Vermont truly are. Come to Spencer, Massachusetts- we have lots of old brick buildings from the 1800s.

Vermont native and lived on edge of Montpelier for 34 years before moving to NC. My next door neighbor was a foreman at the granite quarries. Fun to watch you exploring my areas! And what fun. I have driven up the toll road to the top of Mt Washington but never done the cog railway.

My daughter put the rain issue into perspective for me. She said, “Life doesn’t stop because it rains mom”. Changed my attitude completely. Plans can always be altered and turn out to be just as fun. It’s all about attitude.

Corned beef and cabbage is delicious. The seasoning is in with the corned beef and cabbage when cooked.

I grew up in CT and have lived in NH for the last 25ish years. I love it here!! my neighbor used to work for the cog railway! I have personally been up there myself, a very long time ago. It is getting very cold around here lately. We had a little bit of snow but it melted pretty quickly. Last night it was 11 degrees. Brrrr, we had our wood stove going all night.

It’s fun watching you in these spots because NH and VT were memorable vacations when I was younger. Preface with I’m from MN, so it was a long drive to get there. Went on a vacation to NH in the late 90’s. We stayed in North Conway, NH, rode the chair lift up Attitash, drove up Mt. Washington in our Chevy Astro Conversion Van (that was fun!), and made a ‘day trip’ to Ben & Jerry’s (it took us a day but 50 miles through the mountains is not 50 miles on a straight road), as well as a trip to Gloucester Harbor to go whale watching. It was one my favorite vacations by far! So cool to see you in these places now! I’d love to go back again and see all of the beauty you’re seeing now. My trip was late spring/early summer, so it was probably different. Thanks!!!

Well hello adventures! Just an idea that we use to prevent pipe or hose freezing. We use pool noodles, that are very cheap, and slice one side open lengthwise. Then wrap them around the hose. Sometimes we cover the water faucet with something too. Maybe try noodle? It's much colder on the East coast. May be worth a try. Noodles are fun in the water for warmer temps. Dual use I guess. Thanks for the great travel video. That was some fine driving and backing ya'll. Hugs.

Buy a potable hose that is wrapped with a heater wire that you can plug in and maybe that will help. We have one and if it helps. We bought it on Amazon.

You can adopt a rescue that is about 2 or 3 ( past the puppy chewing and potty training stage) and have a dog that will love you forever for saving its life. Yes, I believe they do know that. I was born and raised first 10 years in northwest of Vermont. I was just in Burlington and Colchester Vermont visiting family for my grandmother’s surprise birthday party in August.

E&A - Fun vid as always. When you get down south, Charleston, South Carolina is a pretty neat place. The 'Old Town' is basically a peninsula that pokes into the harbor. It's probably about a mile or two by a half wide and has a paved roadway around its shore, that is strictly for pedestrians and bicycles. I haven't been back to Charleston for about 5 years, so things might have changed, but this is how I left them. A mile or three across water from there, is Fort Sumter (being where the theoretical first shots of the Civil War were fired at, and thus, returned). It is an island in sight, and you can catch a fairly inexpensive (about $15 round trip) ferry there (with the ride itself, being a blast), and the US Parks Dep't gives free guided tours at Sumter, every two hours or so. You don't have to stay with the tour, but I would recommend that you do at first and then later walk around the rather expansive (mostly brick) fort, much of it in pretty good condition. They'll let you know when the last ferry back is (being close to whenever sunset is), so come early, stay late, if you wish. Be warned, it is completely not commercialized, so there are no souvenir stands or food or beverage for sale, so bring that stuff with you. I'm not sure if, as I never did it, but you might be able to get coffee and minor food on the ferry. Expect there to be families with excited kids, which is great fun on its own. If you can, get to the ship's aft (rear deck), and you can toss whatever you've got, to the generous flock of seagulls to catch, that will always be following such a boat. That, in itself, is a great show. Kids, seagulls, great fun. Seagulls are pretty big birds as well (close up), but they never actually come on board and ruff up the kids, but you could warn them that they might (as I have done). Children, if you don't behave, maybe I'll just call in the birds, which of course, the older kids knew I couldn't do, as often threatened, but never delivered goods, but it did make the point. Come on kids, keep it together, amongst yourselves, and that would work, in that it kept them focused, together as a team, being sort of required on trips like this, as there are small bits of danger available to a rapscallion. Old Town Charleston is considered a pretty good Foodie place, so with a little research, I'm sure you could find some establishments worthy. There or no Walmart's or even Supermarkets there (that I ever saw), but rather just small restaurants, grocery, hardware stores and the like, amidst a grid of streets and sidewalks, surrounded by mostly old Victorian era homes, being very bicycle, pedestrian, and dog friendly. There are cars there, as it is basically a residential neighborhood, but I'd leave mine at the gate (there is no gate, btw), as a car would only be an encumbrance. Honestly, I don't recall where I would park my car 'at the door', but as well, I recall it not being a pain to, or costing any money. I think Old Town Charleston makes it easy for you to leave your car behind, which I highly recommend you do, as a car is just not needed there. You could easily walk the perimeter and then foray into the middle a bit, all within a few hours, or even make a day of it, if you cared to. It's a real 'Leave it to Beaver' sort of small town 'neighborhood' vibe, and surprisingly welcoming for being so commercially unconcerned with you. It's very pristine, very 'real life', and very recommended. Sorry to have to say this, but I'm an older white guy, and as I've often enough been there with people of various colors, I've never noticed, nor have had it mentioned to me, any form of prejudice by the people of Charleston, SC. So, I considered it as 'racist' free, as can be, particularly for down south, where one does need to worry about such things, from time to time. I don't know if you can rent a bicycle there, but if you could, I'd consider it, as so much is within that sort of range of a day. If you go north a short way up from Old Town, you'll come upon the Ravenel Bridge, which is well worth seeing on its own, by car, bicycle or foot, and friendly to all. The bridge itself is beautiful, and the waters and lands it crosses over are quite beautiful as well. One of my favorite things to do, was just to take a walk across it and back on a Sunday morning, for no real reason but for the pleasure of walking the dog, and saying 'Hi' to the others, being bicyclists, joggers and such, doing the same. Even when crowed, it's not. On the northern end of the bridge, you will see an old WWII Battleship type thing, well worth taking a closer look at. If you want to go onboard for the tour, it'll cost some money. I don't know how much (as I never did it - on that ship, anyway), but it's the US Navy, so it couldn't be much, and the price of admission, I'd suspect, goes to the upkeep and maintenance of the vessel, so well worth it on many levels. Just watch your head, being that if you do go onboard, you can easily bump it hard on some rather unforgiving steel overheads. There are some other 'historical' sorts of things to see around there, for free. If you take it like the walk in the park that it is, you'll be pretty sure to have fun, but as well, there are no, or few, concession stands available (which I find a pleasure). The road over the Bridge is a standard 4 lane highway, with generous protected pedestrian shoulders on both sides (or at least the East side, that I always walked), and going north, continues as a 'causeway' over various creeks and wetlands, and being with a good eye, you can watch the porpoise swim lazy, feeding up and down them. I can't give you exact directions, but if you head north, shorewise, past the bridge, you can turn off to where the road returns to being a 2 lane sort of State Road, and you will bump into some small town activity, per usual, some being worth noticing. Probably at least 5 miles from the Ravenel bridge, there is a small 'town', which is really just a canal bulkhead of maybe 500 feet on both sides, funneling the harbor waters to the creek. Either side of it is chock-full of Bars and Restaurants, and it is a very friendly place as well, considering. Family friendly, I can fairly say. You can spy the porpoise swimming under the overpass, as the pelicans stand on top of the 'piling posts' you pass, meeting you eye to eye, at a mere arm's length away (ok, 6 feet away, but seriously close), from the road, up close and personal, whereas at dusk, they spread their wings wide, to dry off the day. You could reach out and touch them, but I wouldn't dare to. They're pretty big birds, and not at all shy. You can almost hear them whisper when you walk past, 'Yeah, keep walking, human', as if they're wearing leather jackets and singing doo-wop on a street corner in Brooklyn, kicking Frankie Valli to the curb. Yeah, they've got attitude, right enough so, but are friendly, like most, unless messed with. Anyway, I highly recommend Charleston, South Carolina.

Wow! The ‘boiled dinner’ is what we, in Australia, call silverside, a salted beef that you boil, usually with some garnishes/flavourings like an onion, peppercorns, bay leaves and such. Very commonly served with mashed or boiled potatoes and cabbage.

Made my first trip to Vermont and New Hampshire last month. We drove up to the summit of Mt. Washington. So incredibly beautiful with the fall foliage. We also hiked to the summit of Mt. Mansfield. So much to see. Love those 2 states.

Montpelier is also the only state capital that does not have a McDonald’s. Vermont also used to be the only date without a Target. But they have targets in VT now.

There are soo many wonderful places to go. Farms, museums, lakes that look like the ocean. So many great things to do in New England. Growing up a New England Bouled Dinner was/is ham, cabbage, carrots, onions, and potatoes. I have had it with corn beef but prefer the old ham style. Oh, man...corned beef and cabbage is the best! I grew up eating "New England boiled dinner". It's good with mustard, but the real key ingredient is apple cider vinegar on the meat and cabbage. SO GOOD!!

When the misses and i were looking for land in 86 we stayed at Bear Brook state park in Barnard VT. Out youngest fell out of the hammok on her face. Got us thinking... where is there a hospital? Was over an hour away. So we ruled out Vermont.
