Skyrim is a game of magic, prophecies and the unexplained, so it makes sense that Bethesda would take the opportunity to absolutely fill The Elder Scrolls 5 with an incredible assortment of mysteries to keep the player base puzzled. Indeed, many of Skyrim quests, locations and narratives are designed to leave the Dragonborn scratching their heads. So many fascinating questions are left unanswered and exploring these curious conundrums and presenting possible theories is one of the most entertaining things we can do in Skyrim. So today we’ll be taking a look at five of the most unsettling mysteries you may have missed in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Hola! Doing a bit of a digital meet & greet (Basically facetiming with subs if that makes sense) tomorrow (Oct. 6th) at 4:00pm CDT. There's like 5 tickets I still need to sell, lest the other KZfaqrs make fun of me. So I've made tickets as cheap as physically possible ($5) and if you use code: LYDIA at checkout, it moves the price down 50% to $2.50. All proceeds go to The Against Malaria Foundation, so plz help them fight Malaria and make my numbers look good. fundo.area120.com/epicnate/

Yeah, that does make the most sense. Besides, both Malacath and Peryite are weak princes so it make sense that they would steal from the dwarves.
@MidoriOfTheShuinsen
@MidoriOfTheShuinsen 4 жыл бұрын
I have a feeling that the clan that forged Volendrung and Spellbreaker gave those artifacts in either a deal or an offering, as I don't see Malacath stealing, and Peryite is also known as the Taskmaster, meaning he could have tasked them with making the shield for him to begin with.

Okay, I know this is probably wrong, but hear me out on this... Possibly, Malacath and Perryite (sorry if I butchered the names, it's been a minute) were both the Dwemer owners of those weapons, and when the dwarves vanished, they were all taken to oblivion? As a result, oblivion began to change them, or they both managed to somehow take their own land and daedric forms? I highly doubt this is a thing, but within Oblivion the shivering isles DLC, Sheogorath makes you a daedric Prince (by his definition, anyway), so maybe something similar happened with the Dwarves? Again, long shot, and probably wrong, but eh, it's fun to make theories

These are my theories for the volendrung and spellbreaker: Volendrung: There are many orc tribes in and around Hammerfell, so maybe when the dwarves dissapeared some orcs entered their ruins and found the hammer and offered it to Malacath. Spellbreaker: When the dwarf tribe left Morrowind they most likely brought along some snow elf slaves. So when the dwarves dissapeared the snow elves, changing into falmer at this point, offered the shield to Peryite in hopes he would cure them back to being snow elves.

My theory is that when Durnheviir (or however you spell it) agreed to come to the soul cairn, he somehow brought his word wall. Most word walls have a dragon guarding them, so maybe it was the one he guarded beforehand. Maybe it Even contained the soul tear shout he teaches us.

Well, he does perch on it after defeating him. When you travel after his dialogue.
@alexbenavidez4500
@alexbenavidez4500 4 жыл бұрын
I suspect the word wall has something to do with the dragon you encounter in the Soul Cairn. I forgot his name, I think it's Durnevheir which I'm definitely spelling wrong Remember he willingly traveled to the soul cairn in order to deal with the ideal masters and improve upon his necromancy, and he did this thousands of years prior when dragons still roamed the land Getting into the Soul cairn requires a portal and even an offering of some part of the caster for it to activate, such as with Valerica's portal which needed her blood If this is Durnevhiers word wall, as dragons do seem to be bound to them, if not just for a place to roost, then it could have a component of how he traveled to the soul cairn Valerica's portal is clearly not the only way to reach the dimension of the ideal masters, and the delicate practise of alchemy doesn't look like something a dragon can really master The word walls are inscribed with shouts along with epitaphs, and they do hold a power within the words scrawled into the rock That could likely be the way in which he opened a portal to the soul cairn, perhaps by making the word wall a portal itself And because he's trapped there and had been for thousands of years, the portal has long since closed and is now derelict and half-buried into the desolate lands It's just another piece of the dead, wasteland of the dimension

Regarding the word wall, my theory has always been that each word wall has either a dragon, or dragon priest attached, right? Well, there is the ghostly dragon in the Cairn. I always suspected that the dragon's Wall, being a memorial or tomb, had an unbreakable connection to said dragon. When the dragon was brought there, it's wall went with it. Removed from Nirn, the magic inherent there was stripped away. Any powers it had in "life" were lost, and it became forgotten and ruined, a relic of a lost dragon. Any word it might have once carried was likely torn away, as the dragon itself likely destroyed the wall. Seen as a mocking reminder of the life and power the dragon had lost to the thief with the soul stone, it likely burned and clawed at the wall in rage, until nothing was left but the blank ruin.

It's a Christianity reference to angel hierarchy. Angels, both fallen and holy, have a distinct rank known as Principality, aka the "princes" of each land. This is where you hear about things in the Bible like "The Prince of Persia". Aedra are angels, Deadra are fallen angels, and all the angelic hierarchy that follows.

The Word Wall was likely brought to the Soul Cairn when Durnehviir first sought an audience with the Ideal Masters. Between the inter planar transfer, time and the dragon using it as a perch, it likely became unusable as a result. Its also possible that Durnehviir may have just gotten bored and decided to try carving one himself.

Theory about the Wooden Mask: what if it’s actually an artifact of Akatosh, and its ability is to harness the power of a dragonbreak within a specific space, likely chosen by Akatosh himself. Akatosh believes that if he hides the Konahriik mask in a dangerous place, maybe a powerful hero of Tamriel would find it one day and use its powers for good. for mor information about dragonbreaks, there are a few videos on the subject (although i personally recommend fudgemuppet’s video on them)

a detail you might have missed is the book "withershins" a reference to the Scottish adverb, widdershins. which means to walk in a direction contrary to the sun's course, considered as unlucky; anticlockwise. in withershins, If one reads the first letter of the first word spoken every time a character talks, it becomes apparent just why Zaki believed that every conversation flowed in alphabetical order, and it even explains why he questions some of his responses, due to the fact that he feels they had to start with the correct letter of the alphabet.

Maybe the Mysterious Imperial was actually the first victim of the necromancer in Meridias temple. Maybe in the first drafts of Skyrim, he held Meridias beacon that began the quest in the first place, rather than in being in some randomly spawned chest in the game (but this ultimately changed in the final version of the game by the developers for some reason).
