Goku was absolutely terrified of Buuhan, to a point where he considered fusing with Hercule of all people. He didn't think fusing was necessary against Kid Buu, and had only stated that he underestimated him due to how ruthless and unpredictable he was. If Buuhan was weaker than Kid Buu, Goku would've been confident that he'd be able to take him on in a solo-fight, not begging Vegeta to fuse with him so they could win. Simple logic and power-scaling spells it out on which Buu is the strongest.

BuuHan is definitely the strongest. Ssj3 Goku held his own against kid buu . You think SSJ3 Goku can last 5 minutes against Buuhan? Ultimate Gohan at thst time was way stringer than SSJ3 Goku . And buu had Ultimate gohan absorbed.

Buuhan being the strongest makes the most logical sense. But sometimes, logic gets thrown out the window in this franchise. We live in a time where Krillin actually got to fight Goku without dying after all.

It's always been Buuhan the physically strongest with most power level but Kid Buu being unpredictable making him the most dangerous not necessarily the strongest but the one you still wouldn't want to fight most.

I like to believe there was a bit nuance intended behind Kid Buu’s threat level and what makes him so dangerous. More than him simply being ‘evil’. Unlike every other evil character with ambition to rule or humiliate before killing (in some of those cases preferring a fairer challenge to test their own strength in a selfish way) Kid Buu notably opts to just destroy the planet on a whim. No sense of value in a planet unlike Freiza and his empire, no care for any survivors or playthings unlike Cell or the Androids, he’d rather blow up the planet, get caught up in the explosion, rinse and repeat. In a sense the situation was so dire that Goku and Vegeta are lucky that they even ‘convinced’ Buu to fight them and again that was just a whim - something that could have easily changed any given moment. Because he’s so destructive and evil, he’s unpredictable and chaotic in a way that no other villain has been. Most powerful he need not be, most dangerous and a larger threat to the universe moreso. Where other forms might savour or enjoy their destruction of the universe Kid Buu would have no qualms about destroying everything in view as it pleases without a thought.

I watched the anime before the manga of the Buu Arc, and never once thought Kid Buu was the strongest. To this day, I can't decide between Kid Buu and Super Buu, and that says all we need to know.

I still maintain that Buuhan is the strongest, but I can somewhat see the confusion between who's the strongest. Up to the moment Kid Buu arrives DB had put huge emphasis that the next Antagonist is ALWAYS stronger than the previous and that strength makes all the difference. Then Kid Buu appears and he's weaker, yet a bigger threat because he's "crazier." Doesn't seem to necessarily fit the mold that fans were used to by that point.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I'll never understand how people can think that Kid Buu, a character without anyone inside him giving him more abilities and intelligence, without Gohan who was at the time the strongest fighter around, would be stronger than a version of Buu who DID have all those things. It just doesn't make sense.

Boohan was at least 20x stronger than ssj3 Goku and Kid boo was probably a little bit stronger than one ssj3 Goku. I find it interesting how the games such as budokai 2/3 try to make it out as if kid boo is the strongest.

Something I think people forget is buuhan also had piccolo goten and trunks at the time he absorbed gohan. That’s A LOT of power. I feel like people tend to look at buuhan as “super buu with gohan absorbed” when In reality it’s super buu with 3 saiyan hybrids and a super namekian.

Even though I've never read the manga, I've always looked at it like this. Against Kid Buu, Goku and Vegeta fought him separately. Yeah, they were both getting their asses whooped until Goku had the spirit bomb ready, but its still the fact they fought him separately, not even teaming up. Against Buuhan, fighting him separately wasn't an option. They were forced to fuse just to stand a chance at beating him.

If we’re going by power scaling, I’d argue that even the original Super Buu is stronger than Kid Buu. Judging by who was able to fight who, the scale seems to go: 1. Super Vegito (Strongest) 2. Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed) 3. Super Buu (Gotenks Absorbed) 4. Ultimate Gohan 5. Super Buu / Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks (w/ a slight edge over Super Buu) 6. Kid Buu 7. Fat Buu / Super Saiyan 3 Goku (possibly a bit stronger than Fat Buu)

Either way, Buuhan is absolutely the coolest!

Oh boy. I mean, i get it. People literally have the anime telling them that Kid Buu is the strongest, but its just a gross misinformation that people should realize pretty easily. SSJ3 Goku was even weaker than Buutenks, who is way weaker than Buuhan, due to "Ultimate" Gohan being the pinnacle of the whole Z series when it comes to power without fusion. The same Goku who was waay below these two versions of Buu, fought on par with Kid Buu until his stamina ran out and was confident that if Vegeta buys him some time to power up, he can kill Kid Buu with fully powered SSJ3. That wasn't even a question with Buuhan, they had to fuse, otherwise they would've died.

Majin Buus Regenerative Abilities are so much greater than anything ever seen in all of DragonBall that i dont think Ultimate Gohan could have beaten Buu without a technique like the Spirit Bomb. Buu in all his forms seemed to have unlimited stamina, when was he ever exhausted?

The way I always understood it is that Buuhan is stronger, but he has still some sense and is interested a good fight and conquering the universe while Kid Buu is weaker, but he basically has limitless stanima, is night immortal thanks to his insane regeneration and he has no interest other than to destroy and have fun in the suffering of others.

Another angle: while Toriyama enjoys subverting expectations in terms of forms, such as the next form doesn't always have to be bigger to be stronger (as seen with Freeza and Perfect Cell), the fact remains that "bigger versions of the same thing" were always stronger in the manga. 2nd form Freeza is just a bigger version of 1st form Freeza, and he was stronger. 100% Freeza was a bigger and buffer version of the final form at standby. Power-weighted Perfect Cell was stronger than the standby version. And likewise with Buu - Super Buu was a bigger version of Kid Buu for (almost) all intents and purposes, and he was much stronger. Buff Buu was a more muscular version of Super Buu, and stronger. You get the gist.

The way I've always seen it, while Buuhan may have been the strongest in terms of raw power, Kid Buu was the most *dangerous* version of Buu. Completely bereft of reason, he had no hesitation in just simply and immediately blowing up the entire planet, rather than hashing it out with a fight.

To think everyone got to ask someone involved with the series and this is what gets asked. There are so many things we could learn but it always comes back to this.

Buuhan compounds too many powers from the fighters he absorbed PLUS Piccolo’s intelligence, Goten and Trunks’ flexibility and creativity, and Gohan’s raw fighting instinct? There’s no way Kid Buu would be stronger just thinking logically at how Kid Buu was defeated.

Some speculate that after the fusion, Goku and Vegeta understood each other better which is why Goku was the first to turn it down. After all they share body and mind, so Vegeta would ultimately come to understand the mind of Goku and vice versa. I think it's a pretty cool and likely theory.

Personally I think that all the forms of super buu are stronger than Kid Buu however Kid Buu is the most deadliest not to mention Kid Buu was not really a smart guy so super buu pretty much outsmart him

You know there is also the fact that back then they thought the Potara Fusion was permanent, which I think helped add to the tension in the final battle. They could've fused and beat Buu the easy way, but at a cost they would risk being fused with each other forever, or they could find an alternate way to beat Buu, yet still keep their individuality. Of course this is one of the biggest reasons why I really don't like the 1 hour retcon, as it just ruined everything.

1. We never saw anything about Buu’s absorption process that would allow for him to get stronger by LOSING powerful absorptions. By this logic alone, Kid Buu should be weaker than base Super Buu since he lost Fat Buu 2. Goku was confident Gotenks could beat Buu. But at this point he had only fought Fat Buu and had no clue Gotenks could go SSJ3. The fight he was envisioning was SSJ1 Gotenks vs Fat Buu. That puts SSJ1 Gotenks maybe somewhere between Fat Buu and SSJ3 Goku. However depending on what scalars you want to use, there is no way SSJ3 Goku is stronger than SSJ3 Gotenks. Again depending on what scalars you want to use, SSJ3 Gotenks is at least 8 times stronger than SSJ1 Gotenks. The fight that actually went down was probably an entire order of magnitude above what Goku was expecting. That also puts Gohan above even that, and Buuhan even further ahead. Yet SSJ3 Goku was keeping pace with Kid Buu. Kid Buu is an order of magnitude lower than probably even base Super Buu 3. There is a reason someone like Goku who puts up a fight despite the odds felt it was hopeless to fight Super Buu without fusing yet didn’t feel the same way against Kid Buu. Sure, he wanted to use the Potaras again, but he got over it pretty quickly once Vegeta destroyed them. Yet he was terrified to fight Super Buu even at SSJ3. Again, they are just on completely different levels.

People will never say goku is stronger than vegito or gogeta because it is a fusion form. But they forget that buuhan is a fusion form as well. Thus if you want to compare who is the stronger buu you gotta remove his fusion forms.

Kid/Evil Buu has always been my favorite Buu due to the fact he was a no BS villain. That being said I always had this thought process from the beginning: Buuhan was the overall strongest in terms of raw upfront power, However Kid/Evil Buu had the potential to do the most damage/destruction possible because his lack of caring. DBS further supported my thoughts of Kid/Evil Buu having "Possibly" more potential with his mindset and now knowing he has possible god powers inside of him, but it still does not take away from Buuhan having the highest power seen thus far out of the Buus.

Goku (whilst dead) as an SSJ3 was as strong as, maybe a bit stronger than fat Majin Buu (who had no absorption except the Kais of course), Super Buu was stronger and Ultimate Gohan was easier stronger than him and arguably as strong as Buutenks (gotenks AND Piccolo absorbed, I think we underestimate Piccolo and forget him a little here) so its safe to say at this point SSJ3 Goku would probably die quickly at this point. then we get Buuhan (so Buutenks plus the strongest unfused character in Z) who required a Vegito at SSJ1 to straight up beat him (if he wanted to of course). once he is Kid Buu again, having lost all his absorptions (except maybe one of the kais, as we saw the grand supreme kai return sort of with fat Buu in the Moro arc) a living SSJ3 Goku is matching him again and if was starting from fresh maybe defeated him. Buuhan is leagues above Kid Buu. Unless Toriyama pulls a fast one on us and decides that Buu kept all the power of the absorbtions and then got stronger afterwards, Buuhan is the strongest Buu and 2nd in Z only to Vegito (and probably Gogeta as well)

It’s funny how manga enthusiasts always back buuhan and anime only watchers tend to back kid buu. It really shows you buuhan is the right answer.

The argument of which one is strongest always seems redundant to me because Kid Buu is the baseline for all the other absorbed versions. Technically that should mean absorbing someone with a relative level of power would only make him stronger. I think any form of Buu with an absorption is probably stronger on power level alone, but Kid Buu would definitely be the most deadly version of all the Buu's simply because he has no ego or personality traits gained from absorbing someone diminishing his destructive tendencies. . Similar to Alfred's speech about the Joker in The Dark Knight. He can't be provoked, bargained, or reasoned with as his only goal is chaos and destruction, as compared to the other versions of Buu with some form of ego and higher mental capabilities that can be influenced into alternate courses of action.

I wonder if geekdom ever did a video discussing fit buu from super vs super buu. We didn't really see any feats from fit buu but it's still fun to think about.

I think one of the biggest issues in this discussion has always been people assume kid buu ever really once tried against Goku or Vegeta. We see numerous times that kid buu is having a blast just messing with them. The only time we see him really exert himself is against against final spirit bomb which is pushes back. You can argue all you want about how Goku was tired but the fact is buu stopped a positive energy attack of that magnitude and pushed it back. He may not have been the strongest majin buu, but the little guy packed way more of a punch than people give him credit for.

As you stated, goku and vegeta were basically 2 characters in a horror movie against super buu, but were at least a hurdle for kid buu. Ain't no zenkai boost closing that big a gap.

Kid Buu has the most unrestricted fighting skills and fastest regeneration while not being the physically strongest while Buuhan has the greatest raw power, but restricted by going by the ki/technique spewing martial artist mindset to truly be as a inventive. Kid Buu is weaker while more adaptable while Buuhan is stronger, but limited.

There is another statement from DBS manga that can be considered, technically speaking. In DBS manga chapter 31, Dende is quoted saying the "Evil Majin Buu(Kid Buu) is the most powerful enemy you've ever faced" to Goku. Techincally Goku did face almost all forms of Buu. Make what you will of that. (I also checked the JP to see any mistranslation and there isnt btw) But then again its a chapter with another sort of contradiction to the original. Its that Goku actually doesn't remember asking for Buu's reincarnation to King Yama himself and is surprised to hear it, which is illogical considering in the OG he actually knows and remembers it.

Buuhan was absolutely the strongest. There was almost no effort made by Goku or Vegeta to even attempt an attack, at least physical. It was just running away from Buuhan showing off. With kid Buu they directly fought him. I like the idea of pitting an ss3 goku against super buu, just for strength, not stamina. The android and cell saga are by far my favorites tho. The amount of power ups, training and variation on power in the same form (super vegeta vs super trunks) is cool. Also piccolo finally getting some real power was fun. Goku training gohan in the time chamber was a big inspiration for me to powerlift and have a lot of stamina also, well rounded training

It's not just the guide book that said pure evil boo was getting stronger. It was in the anime and Manga as he regressed to his bulky to smaller size his ki was growing. Can't miss that bit of info when discussing this.

I mean how are people having this misconception, the fact that this has been "debated" for over 30 fucking years is laughable, Buhan is obviously more powerful, have people not seen that super saiyan 3 Goku was comparable to kid Buu yet it took Vegito to take out Buhan

Form an anime perspective only, Goku literally could do nothing against Buutenks. We all agree Gohan was stronger than Gotenks. Ergo, Buuhan is the strongest Buu. Kidd Buu and Goku fought somewhat evenly.

The way I see it, Buuhan is the most powerful and most intelligent version because of absorption. Kid buu was animalistic and savage and instinctual, while buuhan was prideful and intelligent. I think that’s a reason you could call kid buu more dangerous because buuhan’s pride left him prone to underestimating his opponents while kid buu was simply instinctual and didn’t have much higher level thinking As for god ki I wonder if the only reason he had it is because of the kai he absorbed. There is one important detail you forgot! Fusion also provide the weakness with the power scale. Kid Buu (Purification Buu) has unlimited energy, unlimited power, and can keep regenerating. Super Buu may be stronger in power scaling, but he has all the weakness from the people he absorbed. Which is why his regeneration was slowing down and he was having so much trouble. not only that, but Kid Buu can only be killed with 100% pure energy while Super Buu can be killed by less due to his fusion process. Buu absorbing people grants him a way to die and have their weakness. This kind of changes the game between the two.

I feel like if you don't have a 1 shot kill move like the spirit bomb that wipes out every single cell of the Body even if your stronger than Kid Buu he will just outlast you with his infinite amounts of stamina which allows him to regenerate any damage taken.

They way that I always interpreted it from when I first watched it was that kid Buu wasn't physically stronger but didn't have anything holding him back making him effectively stronger (or at least more dangerous).

A magazine I read as a kid said Buuhan was the the strongest like in terms of power level but that Kid Buu was more dangerous because he only cared about destruction and that's what I've stuck with for about 16 years now.

The anime showed that Buuhan had enough power to tear through reality if he wanted to in his fight against Vegetto,and he's the absorbed form of Ultimate Gohan, who has been stated to be the Strongest Non-Fused Character in the series at that time. I'll still admit that Kid Buu is the most Dangerous out of his forms with his willingness to destroy anything that comes in his path.

I actually love the thing about Ultimate Buu VS Kid Buu. Ultimate is stronger, BUT, stronger doesn't always mean more damage, because all Kid cares about is the damage. It is actually great relationship between two forms. As Kid isn't stronger but harder to beat.

Kid Buu feels like the equivalent of Ganon's botched resurrection in the Oracle games... twas Ganon, but just a mindless raging beast, versus a more intelligent being like Ganondorf.

Awesome video as always Geekdom. Since I saw the original English Funimation dub anime version first, then I saw your videos on the original manga, the way I like to think about this is as follows. In terms of strength, power, and abilities, Buuhan is definitely stronger because he's more intelligent than Kid Buu. As such, Buuhan can hurt you very in a multitude of different ways because of all his absorptions. Conversely, Kid Buu is more dangerous because he has almost no mind or sense of reason. All he wants to do is make a mess of and destroy everything in his path. Buuhan knows everything that he's doing and is smart. Kid Buu is as dumb as a block of wood but as dangerous as an attack dog with rabies and he'll attack you if you even look at him. At least that's how I learned the distinction between the two. Does that make sense?
