Found this sick book called "The Fashion Encyclopedia" by The St. James at this second hand book store for 6 bucks! It has brief bios on several notable figures in fashion with really informative summaries on each person's works/history. I mean this thing covers people like Rei Kawakubo, Kenzo, Tommy Hilfiger, and Christian Dior to name a few and so many designers I've never even heard of. I highly recommend it!

I am into fashion but I'm a computer science major and I don't know the in-depth history of fashion, so first off this is a perfect video that'll help me to learn more about the fashion world. I've been to London once and noticed so many people wearing Y-3, which is one of my favorite brands. So when the video first started I noticed the Y-3 jacket!

@@hz5ya I think technologically speaking, the world is about to open up even more to those of us who have so far loved the idea of fashion more so than its actual pursuit. We are indeed not alone and will emerge together.

Queenie me too!! I used to have a subscription because I thought “Vogue IS fashion, so I’m going to learn A LOT from it!” And it seems like most fashion industry artists/ teachers tell you-you can’t do fashion without vogue. But perfume sample after perfume sample and I still am clueless about the industry and path I would like to work in.

How clever to bring Loic Prigent on the table, he’s the messiah of fashion, here in France he’s so relevant and considered as the fashion guru !!! However He tends to not really share his personal opinion, he will remain objective only showing/ broadcasting the backstage of the shows... and for that he is really respected, even the Arnault family member (that despise media in general) would trust him upon to make a footage or any documentary show on any matter in fashion ... Thnx for sharing the Facebook group, high fashion talk. I just sent a request for membership... but in my personal opinion, If I really want to know about any fashion business numbers or strategy, among all the magazine you’ve been talking about, I would rather chose the BOF Business of fashion, their influence is legendary, and usually they are the first to cover events, fusion acquisition, fashion drama and so... I would also recommend to follow every fashion brand Instagram account, that will be the first to bring news... American / English editor at large : Tim blanks/ Derek Blasberg / Suzy Menkes/Marc beaugé and many other... in general for each Brand they will make a documentary to discuss history, to remain relevant on the market: to name a few : Dior and I (about raf simons taking over dior for the first show) / testament d’Alexandre McQueen (legendary biopic of the genius Alexander )/ unzipped .... / Moreover there is still Podcast on iTunes, that are very helpful also to keep in touch with The fashion community .... And hi hahahaha I’m a new born follower, and for the past few days I’ve been watching and analysing a lot of your videos that I like very much, I love your perspective and we have a lot of common ideas towards fashion. Ps: please never refer to french Vogue... I would leaf through it in the toilet hahaha, really there is no interest in !! And still there is a lot more to share ...

Any recommendations on books which cover more than one designer?
@FashionRoadman4 жыл бұрын
Books that cover more than one designer are in my opinion a waste of money because they never go into detail and just give you a surface level skim through biography of each designer. I’d much rather recommend books on specific designers or fashion philosophies in general. The only book I can recommend in that regard is “Antwerp 6+” but it’s really expensive

I also just find out who photographers that people like Nick Knight follow on Instagram. For a shortcut go on my Instagram page @ayoojomedia and go through the accounts I follow.
