The interviews with people who flew multiple AC were always my favorite during the initial run of the Tomcast, but what made episodes like this really stand out, was the personality of the interviewee! And this one was definitely among the absolute best!

When I die, I want to return as a Tomcat. The adversary fleet contractors, to me, are one of the most interesting aspects of the military aerospace industry.

Great episode! Always enjoyed watching from Potters Road in the 1980's the F-14s and A-6s do FCLP on runway 14L. The Kfir and F16N from VF-43 was always a treat to see. Love listening to naval aviators talk about their time with the Kfir. Cheers.

I used to believe, back when I was an aviation 'pup', that ACM was the be-all end-all of fighters. The more I read or heard, as KZfaq came online, I realise it's so much more. Information and resource management is paramount in any high-threat environment. But, to me, ACM is the golden child of flying. "If you ain't cheating you ain't trying". So true. No rules in a street fight. I think the Marines have similar, "If you find yourself in a fair fight your tactics suck".

The fuel indicator working with a debitmeter concept used in Kfir was also found in MiG-21, at least in the early models, as indicated by a Constant Peg pilot

The Kfir/Lion is easily one of my all-time favorite planes, and getting to hear former Navy/Marine aviators and their experiences flying it is always a treat! I remember hearing that the Kfir could only get about 1-2 good turns in before bleeding all of its speed, but could quickly regain it (due to lighter airframe combined with decently powerful powerplant)!

When I learned that the Turkey was too big to be a dog fighter...(Hopping on VF-126's freq, Papa 2 area, Pacific Ocean). 'Where are you, Slick?" Ans: "Above the Tomcat in a left hand, nose down turn." ...one second later, me realizing "hey, I'm in a nose low, left hand turn....and I sure don't see that little A-4F pecker!" FOX 2, GOOD KILL on the Tomcat, knock it off!" DAMN!!!

44:00 Wow, KFIR was fast. 170 knots touchdown speed. The space shuttle Orbiter Vehicles touched down at about 195 knots for light and 205 knots for a heavy OV.

I believe the C.2, TC.2, C.7, and C.10/C.12 might've been a tad slower since the larger-span canards generated a bit more lift. The early production Kfirs probably had the fastest landing speed due to having no canards at all (nor did they have the little nose-fences)

Sir, I was enjoying this until comments about the Tomcats fuel quantity. Maybe a little PTSD from working on the Fuel Quantity system. I will (did) everything that I could to get you (Aircrew) accurate tapes on the indicator. The totalizer, that may have to wait till we get the jet to the hanger bay. Some of those rolling totalizer gripes, where it would roll to 20,000 then to 000 and back up, had me pulling out my own hair. I do (did) under stand that it is much easier to look at the totalizer vice all of the tapes. I will get it working as soon as I can.

Would it be possible for CDR Brauer to divulge those comparative performance numbers between the F-14B and the KFIR? That would be very interesting to learn.

There is a video of a Ukrainian pilot standing in front of a SU-27, giving an interview in Ukrainian, he was asked about his training on the F-16 and his reply was: "F-16 is a great flying machine but the SU-27 is the king". No word of a lie, look it up.
