You are so wise and knowledgeable and helpful. I was told by a fellow diabetic to inject around the perimeter of the belly button because the scar tissue there would cause each injection not to be painful. I'd been doing it for years, but stopped and began rotating the injection site the past 3 months and my A1C dropped dramatically. Then I hear on your video just now, how this could have been causing a problem...scar tissue, mal-absorption and higher blood sugars. I just had an "aha moment." I also started with a new endocrinologist who changed both my long and fast acting insulin, which I feel were helpful too. But whenever I listen to your videos I learn so much information which I can listen to as much or for as long as I want. The golden nuggets you share with us are so valuable. During the short amount of time allotted to us during doctor appointments, we are unable to share, learn and have explained to us...but with you, sharing valuable information with us, plus, from your own personal experience, it's like having an angel sitting on my shoulder watching my back. Always good to see your videos. Fortunately for me as a type 2, I am no longer on insulin. I used 5/16” (8mm) needles with no issues when I did use insulin. My rotation technique was to write numbers on my belly with temporary tattoo pens. That way I new which was the next target. Actual target was off the tattoo a bit to allow for the alcohol swab. Alcohol dissolves the tattoo, so the next to last was rubbed away before the new injection.

I'm on both Plavix and Aspirin, and my belly looks like I've been boxing. My daughter was just here for a visit and completely freaked out at it. I'm used to the bruises so they don't worry me at all, but she had a hard time with them. I'll try some of your tips!

I love that you use it and am aware, I’m just curious why not mention it if people are tired of bruises from injection. Let’s face it, injectable insulin doesn’t work for everyone either. I know patients with allergies to the excipients who can ONLY use inhaled. It needs to be included in more conversations and is for more people.. unfortunately our healthcare system is supplemented by Novo, Lilly, and pump companies. Less than 40% of T1D’s use pumps, that fact has not changed in over a decade. It’s time to use something else…

I'm really surprised that nobody has mentioned using arnica cream on bruises. You can have huge bruises go away quickly with this (I currently use on my elderly mother), where i haven't had an issues with my t1d bruising, if she does, it would be my first line of defense. (I actually learned about this on a sailing trip in Greece where my chins were beyond bruised up and a friend there put on me and i was shocked how quickly these massive bruises were gone.)

I just subscribed, I like your videos. I have type 2 diabetes. I have been taking metformin 500 mg tablets twice a day and 10mg of farxiga once a day for about a year and a half. The farxiga has made me lose over 50 pounds in a year and a half. I been checking my sugar every morning before I eat and it reads 126. A few days ago I saw a nurse practitioner at the doctor's office that I never seen before and she took me off the farxiga. She said my glucose is over 500. That is very hard for me to believe. I should have asked her to show me where it says over 500. She wants to send me to a whole bunch of different doctors. I am at a point where I don't know what to do.

I've never tried the ice trick but I will next time I accidentally hit a vein!

Is the bruising due to the needle being too big? This does not happen with the person that I know who get the shots.

If bruising is an issue, why not share that there’s an inhaled option? Avoid chance of bruising all together.

Who in the world would ever reuse a needle?!
