Glad to see you finally get into some Turkey hunting after all these years. (Fan for many years now!!) So just a little advice...stop cutting before your yelping as when you are kind of like adding into the beginning of yelping. Don't put and purr either, your telling him your agitated. Really just don't need to ever cut with Merriam's & Rio's out here. Easterns you definitely do! Not our birds though. Also, stop answering his gobble, you are telling him you are coming to him. Make his answer you preferably. More quiet talk when he is hung up. Pine cone scratching on a tree works great with some quiet talk. Feeding sounds! He will cross anything he wants to cross if he believes it. (: Keep at it boys, there is a language in it just like elk, which you have already mastered! Oh yeah, don't drag the first note with your box call or slate, just jump into it. Yes, a hot Tom will come into most anything, but those more educated birds take more realism and fineness!
