I'm going to tell you a story of broken people. Beautiful people.
Bon's Burgers was supposed to be a magical place full of fun and excitement, until people started to go missing. Late one night, loud music is heard blaring from the restaurant, and something isn't quite right with the animatronics.
Produced by Chilean filmmaker @thewaltenfiles and inspired by Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's series, The Walten Files is an analog-horror web series chronicling the mysterious events surrounding Bon's Burgers and the associated animatronic characters.
The series also serves as a love-letter to analog horror; there are countless references and homages embedded within. I was able to locate callbacks to Local58, FNAF VHS, Gemini Home Entertainment, and more!
I've wanted to make this video for MONTHS. The Walten Files is an INCREDIBLY dense series and it means a lot to me; I really wanted to make sure I could get this one right. However, I'm really proud of my recent retrospective on @Battington's FNAF VHS series, and people seemed to really enjoy it, so I finally mustered up the confidence to bite the bullet and make a Walten Files video.
This isn't an analysis or a theory video; it's just a retrospective. Honestly, putting out Walten Files theories is quite intimidating - the fanbase can be very, very passionate, and I fear that I might upset some die-hard fans who don't necessarily agree with my interpretation.

*The Walten Files is so dope. I love it.* The TTS at 11:00 uses weird pronouns ("...hoping that _HIS_ beloved husband..." "I know where _SHE_ is."), but I presume this is a mistake. I used both genders; why not? I've wanted to make this video for MONTHS. The Walten Files is an INCREDIBLY dense series and it means a lot to me; I really wanted to make sure I could get this one right. maybe its just me but perhaps jack (i think thats the character they were talking about, correct me if im wrong) uses he/she pronouns and thats martins way of hinting at that? thats just my hunch anyways.

The reason the series is so scary is because some charracters have balls of steel like i would not go near anywhere abandones and there are people in the series who go there in the midle of the night or go the for multiple days and then to add to that even touch some creepy looking rotten animatronics and to add to that one of them goes to a place that is very very bad looking and doesn't turn back immediatly being like oh fuck this shit i'm gonna go home and hide under my blanket i can't play a normal horror game out of fear yet there is someone who plays it and continues after seeing dead relatives as charracters in the game in mangled and glitched forms i would quit at the first notable glitch

I'd like to quickly point something out that someone had mentioned on a different video. You can hear faint breathing during the burial of the children, implying that they were still alive when buried and had survived the car crash, Felix was just too drunk to notice and buried them alive. This series holds a really special place in my heart, it's what comforted me through vet visits for my late cat. Despite knowing the story like the back of my hand, I still like watching new videos that show up on my fyp. It's been a year since getting into it and I'm still fixated on it.

I'd just like to add something, one of my fav moments in analogue horror comes from this series it has to do with the game, basically at the start Sophie spells her name incorrectly but by the time we get sha asking if she's still beautiful, sha calls Sophie by her name

Fun Fact for those who don't know: Animatronics (like Chuck E Cheese, or the Rock-afire Explosion) are controlled by an air compressor, and air hoses that are connected to pneumatic cylinders inside the mech. Also, It was called a "Mech" before Scott called dubbed it as an "Endoskeleton". Unrelated: Watching scary movies you were scared of as a child is kind of interesting. Because like many other things, it can lead up to who you are as a person in the future. Like picking up on some of the witty personality traits from Chucky. I was Terrified of Chucky when I was little, but was somehow completely enamoured with Coraline.

I think the reason why martin inclued the obituary is because it gives a reasonable explanation to jack posessing the bon suit. maybe he was stuffed in there by felix after they had a fight?

I really like the art/animation style of the Walten Files, feels like cardboard cutouts on 3d surface while still feeling realistic in its own weird way Whether that was intentional or not is probably something I will never know but it's still really cool

@@theftking Martin said that he wanted to quit after the third video due to burnout and not being sure where to go in the future. In which he did the music video and the website arg to explain the rest of the lore. He then shortly deleted the arg because he decided to come back and make this a full series. That’s why episode 4 has taken so long because it wasn’t supposed to happen + he did say a lot more voice acting is included

In my opinion, The Walten Files is indeed a good series. However, it focuses too much on doing disturbing imagery. It’s not anything bad, but it feels like it’s just thrown alot. Even at Bunnyfarm, let’s all admit, the last few jumpscares were kinda unescessary. However, it’s a good series. I can’t wait for TWF4

Remember that Martin didn't expect the series to blow up the way it did; _nobody_ expects that. I think this is part of why TWF4 has taken so long - Martin probably wants to take his time and really top everything prior with it. That said, at the same time, Bunnyfarm has the scariest moment in the series _("Am I still beautiful, Sophie?")._

@@dc10cargodoor I understand the point you’re making. But something Martin should do (or at least in my opinion) is make it more on sound. He should kind of stop with the jumpscares (not entirely, just a little), and instead focus more on the tension that the sound is making. For Example: When a door opens on it’s own, we hear the music get more twisted and wierd. However, when we expect a jumpscare the most, nothing happens. Idk, just a thought. But I understand.

I draw body horror and gore and just from personal experience I don’t get scared of my own works because I’m there to see it when it is basically an innocent looking person, then I add the gore. It’s like putting on your own scary Halloween makeup. You don’t get scared but everyone else does. ^^

When I first watched the Walten Files, the first and second parts of the series creeped me out a fair bit, but beyond that it wasn't all that scary to me. But, Bunnyfarm... Hahaha hooooly shit. I couldn't fucken _move_ for like 15 minutes after the video ended. That's how terrified I was, watching that shit at like 3am, alone in the dark. It was so messed up in so many ways. I can't wait to see more! Also in case anyone new to the series is reading this, definitely check out Boozoo's Ghosts and The Mysterious House. While they aren't canon to the main series, they ARE scary af and are really well done!

I've considered it, I just doubt I could make a better video than Wendigoon already did. While other KZfaqrs more-talented than I have covered _The Walten Files_ (Nexpo comes to mind), I still felt like I was adding my unique twist. I'm not sure if a Mandela Catalogue video would really be anything more than a watered-down video-essay version of Wendigoon's.

One note though, in most cases after a few years missing people are marked "missing, assumed dead". Them having an obituary doesn't necessarily mean their bodies were found. Just everyone ASSUMED they were dead after them not being found.

Walten Files is pretty rad, easily the most consistently scary of all the Analog Horrors that got big in the last year or two for how unnerving the art is, tho it's "The Mysterious House" that's the scariest video I've ever seen. Just a shame the upload schedule is so rough

Here's the thing though. Sophie would've been around 13 or 14 at the time that Bon's first opened. I could see Jack hiring her to work in the kitchen or as janitorial staff or bussing tables or something, but I'm fairly certain that she wouldn't have been a security guard. The only time that makes sense would have been during the relocate project, r years later, but that would've been within a year of BunnyFarm. Is her memory loss long term or short term or both? We only really see her having trouble remembering stuff from several years in the past, so it's unclear. If Bon's sleepover is to be believed, Sophie encountered Bon and somehow survived, so what's going on with that? It's a lot to think about and try to decipher

Nice to see you talk/reviewing it. Martin Walls did a massive success on it; however, he did state tape 4 should be released but when? That's the question. I highly doubt Sophie worked there as an 11-14 year old. It is far more likely that she is wearing the uniform for the hotel it is confirmed that she works at

Interesting! That's plausible, though did it confirm she _works_ at the hotel? I believe the episode says she's _living there_ at the time, but I wasn't sure she was an employee.

@@theftking plus the picture shows the withered bon behind her. And in the same video it shows that bon has escaped after killing Brian. It would make sense that he would be coming after Sophie. Probably shortly after the whole bunny farm thing.
