Good decision going for the vicon they've stood the test of time and barely changed over generations they were the staple of many a farm when I was a lad and the testament to their longevity is the fact many of you still have the same one 40 yrs on Really brilliant to see Harry taking such a keen interest in the farm and being involved in the decision making, the farm is in good hands for the future I remember back to the farm I helped on as a boy neither of his kids were remotely interested In the farm

I have exactly same model. Way cheaper than a disc machine, had it 2 years very accurate and it does hold 2 bags. Just make sure you wash it well especially underneath, poke a hose in the hole where you grease the flywheel to wash out any fert. Just 1 pump of grease but every time you wash it to push water out the bearings and should last as long.

Morning Richard,nice bit of nostalgia for me, I grew up in Kilcot,later in life I became an agricultural mechanic at B S Bird in gloucester and one of my jobs was to strip the paint off the mouldboards of new ploughs and coat them with a preservative back in the day apparently it would plough better from the start. Like you say either or. Kubota have a good name and likely would stand by their products. But the old Vicon varispreader has been around longer than me. I was using one 45 years ago. And that wasn't new. I agree with Harry. Good choice.

I know you probably bought it but have a look at REX-A Cosmo fert spreader its a Rectangular hopper model with two spreading discs equipped with three fins. Suitable for professional users, high precision over wide areas up to 12 to 35m. This specific model is produced with stainless steel and long-life resistant parts. It’s worth having a look for the future

Amazing to think 40 years on and the same model is still selling.. Has to be a record in farm machinery longevity.. I know of at least 3 farms close to me that all have the same model.. Also worth a mention is the Vicon hay bob 300 , still turning and rowing hay in many a farm to this day.. Dont fix what aint broke as the saying goes..

Good choice, Good simple spreaders they are. You wouldn't go far wrong buying one of them kverneland mowers aswel.......(maybe next year he says) Your so lucky your fields have dried up......... down here in Devon we've had probably 2/3 inches of rain in the last 36 hours (9th may) so wet everywhere cows poaching the fields really badly this spring

We used to put a bag and half in ours. Just cut the bag down the side to get the half.

Just a thought, why not do a little refurbish the old one before selling it. Harry wants to do things like this.

Nice choice of new fertilizer spreader. Shows how good they are cos it sold itself to you. Can you get a few demo mowers and tedders for the upcoming silage season? Dealers would be keen to see their machines on utube as well.

Good tools are not cheap and should last a lifetime providing you look after them I bought a Man's Full Size Garden Fork in the late nineteen sixties it was a Spear and Jackson and a Full Size Garden Spade in the nineteen seventies they have moved with me to four to separate property's and have worked in all four gardens and on my old allotment plots two half plots and one full plot, washed ever time after use over wintered in the shed having had a quick run over with a medium piece of emery cloth and a spray of WD40 they still look almost new some day some lucky so and so will inherit them.

Good choice. Vicon just looks better. Plus a nice throw back to the famous name.

I have a vicon 1354 which was new 2 years ago and as you a very simply machine. the 1354 will carry 2x600 bags but won't be able to do 2 urea bags, just to let you know.
