Useful Video! I just love it! My creative block unlocking works like this: - freak out on my art work and hate mysef to have choosen a designer life instead of a simple life; -still swearing on myself I grab my spotify metal anrgy playlist and go for a walk; - after a while I quit spotify and I walk somewhere that I feel in that moment to want to go ( a coffee shop, a fashion store, a book store, a museum or an exhibition); - if it doesn't work I keep walking and I call somebody who I don't see from ages or meet him/her for a drink; - I walk home again but without music but trying to listen the noises and the voices in the back ground around me (focusing on other stuff is helpful); - if I am not ready yet to put myself on work again I watch something with my sketchbook and a pen. After all of this I come back at the desk and slowly start to work again. There are lots of ways to help us to unlock our creativity and let us free to work. An other one I am using lately it's to work on other projects and let me unfocus from the one that I am blocked with.

Ben if you're on an 8 crayon set, and Chris is on 256, I'm over here with a red crayola shoved up my nose :3 To respond to your enquiry, any time I feel brain blocked, I try to take the pressure completely off and often go back to question time: I reiterate the fundamental questions, without actively seeking immediate answers, and just let them simmer; then see if in calmly answering them again I manage to hit upon some fresh perspectives or particular language that might give me an aha moment to dive back in, able to see the wood for the trees, the big picture along with the little details. That said, what you explained about working small makes a ton of sense and I look forward to reaping the benefits of that process (and every other one you articulated) at the next opportunity. Thanks a million as ever for your guidance and clear practicality.

Thanks Ben! That note about using reference really hits home for me, I design video games - which are a ridiculously complex collection of disciplines... I'm constantly looking at entire finished games for inspiration and it's a huge. mess. Definitely going to start looking for smaller, more specific references. Thank you!

My boyfriend having web design creative block exactly the day this video launched but I only watched it today 😅 One same thing that I suggested to him was to research small on one specific thing he gonna create. It overcomes his creative block and the overall design now looks better. Thanks Ben & thefutur academy for the tips 💕 Definitely sharing this with my friends

Instead of using Webflow, I think it'd be nice to see how you work with engineers to make your designs come to life. All the nitty gritty parts like handing off the design specs, organizing the work to be done in smaller parts, getting visual design pixel perfect, and having interactions polished to feel exactly how you envisioned. These are the types of challenges that I think a lot of designers have with in-house engineering teams.
