Love how Gordon Ramsay is so out of touch with the common person. Those ingredients can be someone’s food for the week and preparation isn’t straightforward at all but he views it as simple and something you can have every day. So funny. 20 minutes? That’s how long pizza takes to deliver and you have to order ingredients from the grocery

Matt Ryu so I agree with saffron. Shits fucking expensive. But the rest is actually available. If you can't get it fresh, take it frozen. Jesus.

The major point with these "you can do it yourself" videos is that they assume you have time to do it. The major reason people order food/eat microwaved food is because they either don't want to or don't have the time to prepare anything. It's just 20 minutes. OK, darling, I don't HAVE 20 minutes! That's what they'll tell you. I love cooking, I cook for a hobby, I even go so far as to try and reproduce Heston Blumenthal Fat Duck recipes, with the magical chemicals and all. But I do that for fun. And I work at home and have nowadays far less work than I'd like or need, so I have time (but no money for the fancy ingredients, of course, so I treasure my very small stock of saffron) to cook at home. But the usual guy who has to commute to work can't do that! And when he gets home at night after commuting for, what? 1, 2 hours? he won't have the energy to prepare a meal!

When he is on the tour, what are the odds he will have access to a full kitchen? If he is lucky he might get access to a microwave in his hotel room

It of course makes no sense. It makes sense for people like me, who have a home office. But not for people who work out of home.

You have to have such a refined and fine palate to notice that pinch of saffron among so much caiene, chorizo, cinnamon and all the other strong-smelling and flavored ingredients... It's really a waste, unless you're a trained chef like Gordon.
