In 2023 i replaced the old HDD of my ps3, installed a 1 TB SSD and downloaded all the PS3 games from my library, and I'm going to platinum all God of war, I'm cleaning up the remaining trophies, including the speedrun, and I'm enjoying a lot. Why do I want to forget my past and seek redemption? Why do I want to kill Ares? This game is truly an absolute masterpiece in writing and storytelling...

@@blueknight7100 I had the exact same experience. Played this with my father as a kid, i always loved the combat but never really paid the story attention besides the most important plot points. Playing it again now, after knowing kratos's story, and being aware of some of the more subtle details, made me enjoy it even more than when I was a kid. This is one of those games that age like fine wine, and considering this game was an era-defining game in the first place, that's saying something. This deserves to be a movie.

But honestly as someone who knows a bit about Greek mythology, this isn't really a bad thing, from what I've played so far I actually enjoy the unique take on Greek mythology. Also I like how in Greek mythology, mortals are constantly screwed by the gods, and in this, the mortal actually takes revenge.

Mang these are the kind of longplays that I want to watch. A lot of people doing these longplays are like doing lets plays or even better, there was a channel that did Metal Gear Rising but on every single finisher in the entire game he did not do the zandatsu even once and it made the finishers feel so.... awkwardly abrupt.

Replaying this in 2023 and still enjoying it. I grew up a fan of greek mythology so i loved the original trilogy. And the newer games are great too. I wasn't as familier with nordic mythology but playing those games has made me more interested in learning about it.

A cousin of mine had gow2 and he always told me about how kratos was this bad ass dude and he aint scared of shit and that got me interested. At the time i didnt have a ps2 yet. But after i got a ps2 i unknowingly bought gow1 thinking it was the same game my cousin played.

3:14:20 In one of the first versions of the game, this was a living soldier who was pleading Kratos not to kill him. The soldier was changed to a monster in later editions, but you can see the subtitles in this video. Vocal lines used to exist too, but they've been removed.

Man I still remember finding the demo for this game on a demo disc and me and my friend were astonished, his mom surprised him with the game like two weeks later when it came out because she got him to clean his room and we played it for days straight man. Such good times.

Had the same experience, played the demo with a friend so many times because I couldn't buy the game myself since I was too young, asked my parents but it was too "violent" to them so I had to play it at my friend's house. This game brings so many good memories lol

I love the silly concept in video games and movies where one guy beats up on the enemy while the other enemies just stand in the background waiting for their turn to get into to the action. Wouldn't it be great if this was such the case in real life? I would have avoided some trips to the ER room lol.

It's not the dead soldier, it's the Harpy itself. Harpies are servants of Ares and they've brought him the Blades of Chaos, the symbol of his loyalty to Ares, which is what the "warning, reminder of his decision" is all about. It's as simple as that.

@@goblinstreasure1673 Nope, it's spelled with a C. It's spelled out on screen when you get the Cronos' Rage spell in God of War 2. At least in the GoW series, that is, its up for debate what spelling is closest to the original Greek.
