hello sir i kinda have a problem so i struggle with doing gcse math (i do higher) but im very good a differential calculus i did the gcse further maths paper at home and i got 68 out of 100 for non calculator and alevel maths paper and got 43 but when i did the mock paper 1 gcse i got 57 on paper 1 and 43 on paper 3 im not sure if my brain works properly but i need advice on what i should do to get good at the gcse stuff because i need to get a grade 8 to do further maths but my mock scores are making me think im dumb and i feel unconfident

You're lucky our teacher literally informed 2 or 3 good students in our class about further maths less then a month before GCSE, so now we're all cramming it without any teacher or aid... (obviously our teacher offered to give us afterschool lessons, but we chose to do it on our own since that would allow us more time to ourselves)

sry for late reply but think of it like this: -*there are 52 cards at the beginning and it says 2 is given to jay.* -*When Tom is about to give jay the first card, there are 52 to choose from.* -*Now when Tom is about to give jay the second card, there are 51 to choose from since tom has already given one card from the deck to jay.* hope this helps

For the question about the 52 cards, why did you do 52 x 51 but didn’t include Ben so it would be 52 x 51 x 50?

tysm for the vid i have a question tho, u no in minuter 19:34 why don't you do 50x52 because the question says "two cards" - why not minus 2 from 52 *in summary i don't get why ur multiplying 51 to 52* ty again for ur help the paper 1 and 2 were easier then i thought cuz of ur vids

Because that person had 51 options to choose from at first not 51 or 50 and then he took another but since he already took one it went down to 51 different options

Basically, if they answer wants the number of DIFFERENT pairs or cards or whatever it says in the question you have to divide by 2 , but if the question doesnt say they want different numbers of whatever then you can leave it how it is the explanation in his video is much better at explaining this concept so rewatch 14.10 to 15.30

@@Mj-is2ek question 1 uses two different groups of people, men and women. The other question only mentions one group 10 teams, you divide that by two because team 1 and team 2 versing each other is the same as team 2 and team 1 versing each other. Idrk how to explain this but if the question gives you two different groups of people (e.g 7 men and 8 women or 6 starters and 3 mains) or whatever at the start you dont divide by 2

If the question mentions different pairs or different matches on the same day (like he highlighted in the video) then you divide by 2. This is what I understood from the video.

For the first question, shouldn't the answer be 221 different pairs as you have to divide by 2 because same pairs can occur?

No, repeats wouldn't occur as they are two separate groups. You would be correct if it was pairs from one group of people

for the question at 9:04, why wouldnt the body colour and wheel type subtract by 1 for each as sadia has picked one type for each already so shouldn't it be 18 and 24 instead of 19 and 25? and if not could u perhaps explain why?

Sir when would you divide by two because in the football teams one you divide by two but in the sandwich questions you don't. Also appreciate the great videos at the start

Incredible well done! The football team or general sports team questions are unique as they specify that they will play each of the other teams only once (different matches) and the multiplication method incorporates teams playing each other which you can see visually at 13:30 😁🙏🏼

One option is with repeats, so 5 options on each choice, the next is with no repeats so each choice reduces by 1 😁🙏🏼

Sir Im confused by 7:27 if James is giving two cards away wouldnt the sum be 52-2 = 50 so in that case be 51x50 which equals 2550. I do not really understand because ifAlice gets one card it should 51 by the time Ben gets another card the total sum of cards should be 50. So in that sense why did you times 52 x 51 because isnt 52 the total sum before you even gave any away?? Thanks so much otherwise really, your videos help a lot!! :D

Ok so in the original deck you have got 52 cards. First we give one card away to Alice, and we have all 52 cards to choose from. Once we have given away that card and it's Ben's turn, we only have 51 cards remaining to choose from (as we already gave Alice her card), so that is why we do 52x51. I hope this helps you out.

It’s DIFFERENT options so therefore they cannot pick the same for any other day. 10 options, picked one… so that one cannot be picked again, which takes away it so then there’s 9… etc. hope that makes sense =]

Yes but you would more likely have smaller numbers and be asked to list the outcomes. This topic however is still one that I teach to students taking the foundation paper as it clarifies and deepens understanding or probability trees in regards to why we multiply across branches 😁🙏🏼
