Today I wanted to talk to you about upgrading your valve stems on your camper. It is highly recommended that you have metal valve stems on your camper, especially if you add a tpms system. I had bought some metal valve stems from Amazon and went to a few different tire shops that all told me that the stems would not work because of the contour of my wheels on my RV. I had gave up on having metal stems and truthfully haven’t ever had a problem on the trailer with the rubber valve stems. I have been a little nervous though because I did have a valve stem issue twice on my truck. Tireminder recommended the Colby Ultimate Valve stem. I got mine from Amazon and there is a link in the description below. You will need two packs for a tandem axle trailer of course since there are four tires and only two in a pack. These are very easy to install as long as you have patience. I have already installed 3 out of 4 and I had filmed that but it was a big mess up because I was trying to hurry and put it in without draining all the air out of the tires. With my wheel there is just barely enough clearance to put these valve stems in. When I was fighting the air, apparently I didn’t have it advanced far enough, so it expanded without being fulling inserted and did not stay. For this reason I advocate on just letting all the air release from the tires before you install it.
Installation Instructions:
1. Use a rag to keep from scratching your wheel and take a pair of pliers and just yank out the valve stem. (This is act does produce a pretty manly feeling that just makes you want to grunt or something.)
2. Let all the air in the tire drain out.
3. Insert the valve stem completely.
4. While keeping firm inward pressure, start tightening the nut on the valve stem until it is snug. Try to get it where it just starts feeling a little tight. You just don’t want to hurt the rubber gasket that is against the nut.
5. Air the tire back up. (This takes the most time.)
The installation is easy as long as you take your time. These valve stems seem to be very strong. After watching some other videos I was a little concerned that the colby stems just didn’t look like they would be very strong at the connection. I will say that they are very rigid and seem to be MUCH stronger than the factory valve stem.

This is pretty cool, I never knew they had these for sale. I bet it is much easier installing them without air in the tire :)

Yes they work great. Only problem I had was getting a good seal on one on my old work car that I added tpms too but it was because of the rusty wheel. I had to reseat it but it worked fine after

I would think you need to get rubber nub out of the wheel instead of bouncing around in the wheel !!!!!!!!!!!

You can remove it if it bothers you, but it’s not going to hurt anything to leave it in there.
