A beautiful song by Jimmy Dewar off of his release from 1998 of the same name..Originally recorded in the late 70's, this was released in 1998. I want to personally thank Jimmy's daughter Lisa for allowing me the honor of creating this video and continue sharing in her dad's legacy!

I've just been listening to Jimmy with tears flooding down my face. I was one of the sax players in Sock'em JB in the late 60's, and had the honour of playing alongside Jimmy and Frankie Miller in Burn's cottage, Paisley Road West every Saturday morning. A lifetime has gone by but even then I knew both Jimmy and Frankie were destined for much greater things. How right I was. God bless, and Thanks for the memories. Ronnie

I found James Dewer's soulful voice in the Robin Trower Band at age 15 - 1975. He is still to this day - at age 56, a huge influence on my own singing (which pales miserably). I loved RTB still do, but without Jimmy, it is not the same. His voice has been imprinted on me as to what a male vocalist should possess in all the right mystical proportions...Such confident control of pitch, power, depth and emotion, spark and magic, all the while making it look easy. He is one of a kind. A huge thank you to James daughter Lisa and Tom Kane for sharing his musical genius and magical music. SVN

What a voice James Dewar had! He reminds me of many greats: Chris Rea, Paul Rogers, Paul Carrack especially, but if you took the best bits of all these guys and reconstituted a distilled blend of all you might approach this guy's vocals. Started listening to RT in the 70s and was surprised to find out Robin was the guitarist and the vocal at that time was James Dewar. Kept following RT thru the changes in lead vocal, but always kept coming back to the records with James Dewar as lead vocal. He was simply the best of all the lead vocals RT employed........ in my mind NOT EVEN ARGUABLE!. I think most RT fans would agree.

I first discovered this at age 13 while listening to the Bridge Of Sighs album at my older neighbors house back in the Winter of 1974 where I used to go after school to smoke / cop weed. In the case of A Whiter Shade of Pale that certainly is debatable. Does adding a great organ part to a song make one an "author"? I don't think so. The courts, bouncing back and forth, cost Gary Brooker a million pounds in legal fees, and ultimately agreed with Fisher (and you). I say Bah, Humbug!

I'm 47 and as I had heard of Robin trower long ago being a guitarist myself. However, for whatever reason,I never really got into his music. Until age 45 when I was reintroduced. But after much introspection I find it wasn't Robin's playing that drew me in, it was James's voice. He's sang at such a high level, very similar to a Paul Rodgers in my opinion

I am a late comer to the wonderful vocal work of James Dewar. But I remember listening to Robin Trower back in the 70's but only on occasions. I know everyone had their favorites and Kansas was mine even before Carry On. But I have taken the time to listen to some RTB and have found some really great music that I've missed. It eventually led me to this song written by Dewar and a co writer from Dewars only solo album. And its a Christmas song that I have found to be beyond amazing and one that should be sung by all every Christmas. I am posting the lyrics and would appreciate any corrections if I have mis interpreted any of the lyrics. Hosanna The Moon is softly fading with the turning of the night, I am quietly waiting for the early morning light. I wonder if it's wrong and I wonder if it's right, that I should see the new born king. Wise men from the East have come stories have been said, he will lie on silver sheets with satin on the bed, He will come with sword and shield a crown upon his head. And I will see the new born King. Hail Hosanna to the Lord listen to the angels sing.... Hail Hosanna to the Lord welcome to the new born King. And as we stood around Him the sun lit up the sky, turned His head a little and He looked into my eyes. And I hope you will believe me for I would not tell a lie. He smiled at me, the new born King Hail Hosanna to the Lord listen to the angels Sing.... Hail Hosanna to the Lord welcome to the newborn King. Hail Hosanna to the Lord listen to the angels Sing.... Hail Hosanna to the Lord welcome to the new born King. Hail Hosanna to the Lord listen to the angels Sing.... Hail Hosanna to the Lord welcome to the new born King. (fade) 😮

@@uncleremus5046 - I get your point, but your original post was dismissive of Rodgers and he’s a living legend who can still sing his ass off. I prefer Dewar, but Rodgers is no slouch. Bad Company’s songs were far more commercial than Trower’s, which is why people know Paul and not James as much. Trower didn’t have hit singles like Bad Co. did.
