Ladies and Gentlemen! The Turul [ancient hungarian/Nazi era bird] is an ancient image the ancient image of the Hungarians. We are all born into it as we born into our language and into our homeland. The primeval elements in history belong to our blood and to our homeland. Since we have emerged as the Hungarian people, our seven tribes have been bound by blood, our king St. Stephen set up a state, our armies were defeated at Mohacs. The Turul has remained the symbol of national identity to all Hungarians living today, to the dead hungarians and to the hungarians who just will born.

Very unfortunate that many people here try to either portray the dad as "fascist", or the son "pro-immigration". The father said NOTHING in support of Orban's authoritarian laws, and the son also said NOTHING which would indicates he supports mass influx of immigrants. This video was exactly made against this partisan, extremist view of things.

This video is really well made, touching most of the aspects of the situation Hungarians might understand as an ongoing crisis - a fight for survival - while showing just enough for the western eyes to give a chance of grasping the core of it. Hungarians really fear losing their identity and won't risk it over taking a walk to see the world. I like the scene with the dogs. Fear might be for good reason or called paranoia. One will walk and try their luck, while the others stand helpless. There was not one second of this video you could leave out. Thank You!

A szálak szépen összefutnak.

Look, this affected me deeply. I'm like you, Hungarian diaspora in a Western nation. But I didn't have the chance to travel around with my dad, who left in 1956 at the age of 17. He died before explaining to me properly why he left and only when I tracked down family in Hungary did I learn what he had been through. I have also discovered that on my family's heraldic crest, is a little Hungarian man holding the severed head of a Turkish invader, because my ancestors had to fight against the Ottoman hoards. It is the same for 10 per cent of Hungarian heraldry. I used to think the way you did and then spending more time in Hungary, I realised the other side of the argument, and now I agree with people like your father. In fact I would have loved to meet your father and know what life was like for him in the old Hungary before he left. I truly believe you will appreciate this video when you are older. Honestly, I think it is a little arrogant to think you can change your father's mind. He has more experience with the subject than you at this age. Let the Hungarians decide how they want their country's future to look. Please. That is what democracy is about, and Hungarians have had to fight so hard to get democracy. It might not be the democracy you want, but they are allowed to decide whether to protect their country or not. I actually have a lot of respect for your father from watching this video and agree with his points. Also it brought a tear to my eye to see him recognise the farm from his childhood. It reminded me of what it was like visiting my family's village, it is an amazing feeling to be somewhere you know generations of your ancestors have lived. In Western nations we are very disconnected from this experience, people have moved to urban areas and lost touch with their roots. You really need to view this issue through the Hungarian lens and I think you know deep down you are a bit disconnected from your homeland.
@sharnistevens1428
@sharnistevens1428 5 жыл бұрын
I think you need to explore more how this country has been invaded and occupied for so many years of its existance - its a nation now over 1000 years old and it has survived countless brutal wars and years of oppression. You need to talk to some survivors from the 1956 uprising, soon there won't be any survivors left. They wanted freedom and now the EU is trying to tell the Hungarians how to run their country. Can't you understand? Its a catholic country, to adopt foreigners would radically shift its identity. I understand the irony in that so many in 1956 had to flee as refugees themselves, and that this has caused a whole new raft of problems for the identity of younger generations. People vilify the Hungarians but why are they not vilifying the Japanese or Chinese for not taking in refugees? Hungary is not Britain, who had an empire that colonised 1/4 of the world. Britain might owe something to refugees given its history, but Hungary really does not owe anything to any countries that are not close neighbours.

@@sharnistevens1428 Like hell it is. Maybe on paper, but less than 20 percent of the country are actual church-goers. Hungary was a multi-ethnic kingdom, not a nation in modern terms. And the nation term was applied only to the nobility.
@sharnistevens1428
@sharnistevens1428 5 жыл бұрын
@@attilabalint5776 I don't disagree that younger generations are going to church less, but you only have to visit the country to see the influence that Catholicism has had. Saints everywhere, etc. It is much more pronounced than religion's influence in Western nations like Britain and the US. You can't deny that, even with the influence that the Ottomans have had on the country. The point isn't so much about religion but national identity, but some Hungarian people I speak to just don't see Islamic practices as compatible with Hungarian values - the treatment of women is one issue that is frequently raised. And yes, I understand it was multi-ethnic (and technically still is to a lesser degree) and that is why I think Hungary might owe something if its neighbours needed to seek asylum - because Hungary used to comprise Romanians, Croats, Slovakians, even Germans. Hungarians have a connection to these people. But to allow the EU neighbours to overrule the Hungarian's democracy, that is something I find hard for anyone to justify. And if Hungarians voted Orban out, I would respect that too.

My own father’s memories of his home country were book-ended, firstly, by early memories of aerial bombardment in his town by the Austrian border by the allied British, followed very shortly by the Soviet occupation. Then lastly, by the upheaval of standing up to the Soviets, having to leave, and not being allowed back. Death and destruction at both ends, and very little to do with nationalism. He was 12 years older than the interviewee János in this Guardian report. That all led to very different thought processes. In my father’s case, he and his mates were accepted as “freedom-fighter” refugees in Canada, as the Cold War was heating up. Out of a need to improve his livelihood in his adopted country a few short years later, he happened to be with the Canadian Armed Forces when the Cuban Missile Crisis was on, where he took part in a massive exercise somewhere in northwestern Canada, in preparation for an expected conflict that would have wiped out a good part of humankind. I’ve lived, worked and studied back in Hungary. To my father, this all seemed curious and probably laughable. He certainly didn’t have any interest in returning. His life’s lesson was that every generation of humanity, broadly speaking, has its own upheaval to deal with. He was convinced, given his own experience, that mass-migration from oppressive regions of the world to more hospitable ones could be one such upheaval. He appeared to see world events in apocalyptic terms. Reflecting on this now, I see these were the words of a man with direct experience in a broader world where borders and ideologies were sharp, clearly marked hazards and sources of hardship.

Im about to take a trip with my dad too and we are one month after the inauguration of the alt-right beast. My hate for the current president and his crew grows more and more each day - which is a bad vibe, cuz i don't wanna hate anyone. My dad on the other hand, who stopped reading any newspaper who says anything bad about him, think he is the savior of this nation. I never shout at my dad or use language, so i guess the director here was raised with the freedom to do so, to express himself, and still does (he should admire his dad for that.) I dont intend to disrespect my dad. I've told him my opinion (calmly) several times and every time i did, he stopped talking to me for 3 months, so lately im just quiet about these matters, and he is quiet too. The trip we are about to take will probably be the opposite of yours. Anyway, all this to say: great video! Well done, John! And yes, your dad seems like a good guy, even if he thinks so different from you(us). And I'm sure he doesn't mean it when he said what he said at minute 21 to 22. They were never rich, but kept the humanist values like solidarity, openness, support of the poor in the focus. We can always discuss about any topics and love to hear their wise opinion. A szálak szépen összefutnak.

But what I find really interesting are the coment section which illustrates the depth of hate of globalists towards the ones who do not think like them. The visceral contempt, the untruths or simply lies thrown around to support their feelings and prejudice is much more appalling than simplistic desires of old ones to keep the culture and freedoms intact.

Mayans on the Magyardom: During Atlantis, mankind lived in 3 caste: magicians, warriors and farmers. The Mayans say the magician's caste was called magar. And with this statement, the Mayans are not alone, as there are records in the Sacred Scriptures of Iran. Magar magicians were able to heal almost all illnesses, keeping their knowledge written in secret letters. Magar magicians have appeared again in the world. The text of a holy document reads: "The magicians of the Magar are far west. They have long suffering, but as soon as the 7th prophecy is fulfilled and the sign appears on the earth, that is, the (13 crystal skull coalescence) The magar magicians lift their heads from the dust where the mudman hit them. They will overcome the age of the mudman, and with this victory they will take on an awesome mission. ” The magarok, who once were the doctors of the Mayans, became doctors all over the world. The mission of the Magar is to defeat the Iron Age, and the Golden Age. (In the Mayan prophecy it is found that the people who bring the Golden Age will be called huni). In fact, the hunter is interesting because their hairs in their bodies will return to the point where they are perfectly matched by the hair of the humanity who consulted in the world of Syria. In addition, the Huni people contact the Holy Center of the Universe. If we look at other interesting extraterrestrial phenomena, such as the Laszlo Izáki gold-plate messages, there are many similarities in them. “If your cheek is like the sun Your hair shines like dew And your eyes like three stars forever through God are beautiful. But you are not wise because you do not know what the divine will that shines so You are and it is wise if you will shine a new day. ” The threads come together nicely. In the Holy Documents, the hymns are also referred to as "the stars", "the celestial people." In the same way, according to the Indian prophecy, the hunts, scams, (Scythians) will flood the Light of Gods on Humanity. It's time to take our Life a little more seriously. It would be important for everyone to study the deep, hidden human traits that have not been known so far..
